How does /k/ protect their funs from burglars, gungrabbers, and snooping guests?
I'm about to build an AR and start expanding my collection in general, but first I want to get a decent safe that will provide enough space for at least 4-5 years. I'm also in an apartment currently, so some 30 gun, 800 lb vault isn't entirely practical in my situation.
Would appreciate any recommendations/advice on the matter. Pic related is one I'm considering, as well as Mesa safes.
>>28264679
Stack on 8 or 14 gun "safe" it's made of sheet metal, and won't stop anyone with 5 minutes and a crow bar, but it works.
>>28264725
That's basically what we have at my family's ranch house, where most of my guns are now.
Being in the country I'm not really concerned about robberies there so I guess that's enough, but I was hoping to get something a little more substantial than that for city living.
Your basic stack on safe will stop a novice burglar from steeling your guns. But does nothing for fire.
One of the best deals for the money is a 24 gun fire rated safe. Pic related.
You can find them on sale for $400.
Small enough that they do not require special equipment to move. Heavy enough that one guy won't take it.
So what did you guys and Nutnfancy say about modern budget bolt action rifles being superior to milsurp rifles like the K31?
Judt admit it, a modern budget bolt action is nowhere near the quality, accuracy, and sturdiness of a quality milsurp such as the K98, K31 etc.
>>28264331
Well no shit.
They're still good guns though.
>Listening to nutnfancy
The guy is a total moron. Always rambling about his "project" and taking 45 minutes to tell you what could be said in 10.
>>28264331
Nutnfancy is a mouth breathing casual. The guy quite literally loves to listen to himself talk- which is why in average his videos are 45 minutes long.
Side note: My next build is going to be a Remington 700LR in 300 win mag.
I saw a used Norinco copy in good condition, but waited a day too late to get it...I crie everytiem
>>28264324
No flaw
I wish i could have pic related
>tfw Winchester doesn't make these anymore
>tfw wouldn't get a chinkshit copy even if I could
Damn you videogames, stop making me want guns I can't have.
>>28264324
They pop up eyery now and then on usedtobefunbroker and armslist. Try for a later made one. Few improvments.
I have a late 93/97 myself from Norc/IAC and it's great. The trench model I'll get around to getting eventually.
How do you guys maintain guns that you rarely shoot?
Oil and silicone impregnated sock then stored in the safe with rechargeable dessicant.

At tovarisch pitors doma, In the pool of cosmoline he was birthed in
>>28264245
Simple; stick them in a locker with a damp-rid/moister absorption packet and leave everything in rest (hammers in the rest position, all springs at rest, etc). If you want to use Break Free long term it's good. But why wouldn't you be using them? If you don't need them, why have them?
Oh no! This 90 kg buck is 200 meters away! What caliber is best to convert him into food? Consider the price of ammunition as well.
>>28264031
>Brrrrrrrrrrrrt
>>28264031
.308
I recommend a 16-inch gun. That buck has a lot of antlers and it could be dangerous if he gets close.
>10mm vs 9mm
I'm looking for a woods carry general defensive pistol. I have decided to go with Glock because reasons.
I want a 10mm because bears and pigs shit, but used 20's and 29's are a lot harder to find and more expensive than you garden variety 9mm Glocks. I'm not really interested in .40 since it's so close to a 9mm in performance but still more expensive to shoot. Also, the whole point of 10mm is so that you can shoot full power loads, not that ".40 in a longer case" pussy shit. But is a full house 10mm too much for such a lightweight gun?
Or should I just go with a 9mm, pay less for the gun, pay less for the ammo, and actually be able to practice more with it and thus have better shot placement? My only other center fire handgun is a .45 and while I love it, I told myself my next gun would have to be something cheaper to shoot.
I could buy a new gun and get whatever I want, but that's just more $$$ and it seems like a waste to buy a Glock new since there's so many good used ones. I'm pretty dead set on a Glock because I live in CA and it's one of the only decent handguns left on our stupid roster and still available at non-inflated prices. Motherfuckers ask $800 for used M&P's around here, I'm not going to support that bullshit.
G20 and Cor-Bon for the woods. G19 and Hornady for the hoods.
The other thing I've considered is building from a frame. That way I could get a long slide which I think are fucking cool and it would end up not costing much more than outright buying a new glock.
>G20 complete lower $250
>LW Slide (stripped) $175
>LW 6" barrel $100 or $150 (ported)
>Slide parts and other small stuff $150
So we're looking at 675-725 for a custom long slide Glock, where a base model Glock has a $650 sticker price at most LGS's.
For innawoods carry I would go with 10mm. It's not TOO expensive to shoot and it has more stopping power than 9mm so it would have more protection from medium to large sized animals
Pikes and Spears are objectively the best type of pre-firearms weapon.
Prove me wrong.

Crossbow.

I'm being asked to appraise 3 NFA thompsons today, problem is I know jack shit about them. Just looking at what they're going for online.
>1921- ~40-50k
>1928 ~20-25k
>1928A1 ~25k+
Does this seem right? Are there any models I might run into I'm missing, I only know that one of them is a 1928 and nothing else so I'm kinda flying in blind. Help me out here /k/.
>>28263822
Also how much does the condition of the finish affect the price on these? +/-
>>28263822
>I'm being asked to appraise 3 NFA thompsons today
Why? You seem to not know anything.
>>28263822
Just like real estate is location, location, location, firearms are all about condition, condition, condition. The overall fit and finish will greatly affect the price of a gun.
Look at high end auction houses like James D Julia and Rock Island and see what NFA registered Thompsons sold for. That might be a starting point.
So /k/, I posted a thingy here last week asking for any info on getting an MI-6 working that came from Chernobyl. Some of you suggested I just go and buy one for dirt fucking cheap from the slavs. Well, I found one. So who wants to join me on a quest to get the /k/ copter working?

Yeah, no.
Hey /k/ just bought my first rifle and handgun. What do I need to keep up with proper cleaning. I can't decide what to buy and kind of unsure. I would prefer to purchase something that includes stuff for various firearms.
tldr;
Recommend me some cleaning products and stuff.
>>28263437
Boretech or KG will clean the best with little work and no damage to your guns, some KG stuff needs to be cleaned with gloves tho, also for oil motor oil works fine for lubing but for rust resistance clp is a decent oil, tetra for grease, also eezox or corrosionx for storing guns , you will need special jags but its all worth it for super clean guns, or you can try electrolysis
>>28263437
really OP a bore snake, shop towels, CLP(any kind really) and a tooth brush will be all you ever need

Are these true?
What parts aren't quite true, if any?
"When you're being watched, what you need is contrast: A background that will make the surveillance stand out. "
Take that for example. That's true, except of course to apply it yourself is more for situational awareness.

Basically this means that with bad physical security, a set of clothes can help you get into a building. Be it maintenence, IT, janitors etc.

You have very different rifles in that list. For instance, is your preference a x54r or x39 caliber?

Hello /k/, Germany there. Wanted to buy my first EDC knife. Which are best, need it for everyday-stuff and protecting myself from rayfoogees. I did boxing for six years, but I'm afraid it's not enough anymore. And it's shouldn't bee too expensive, if possible <60€.
I've owned an M16, and it was good, but not great. The folding mechanism got loose and sloppy after a year or so, and my retarded friends (lived in a frat house) always picked it up off my desk to play with it and couldn't figure out the secondary lock, so they just forced it closed and fucked it up, you can take it out and it still works just fine though
I've since moved on to a Kershaw leek, and its my favorite knife I've owned so far (not that I've had a huge amount)
>>28263319
afaik the german knife laws for carrying are like this:
-a folding knife can either be one hand opening or locking, not both
-fixed blade limited to 11(?) cm
-auto knives limited to 7(?) cm
-no ballisongs or otf knives (can't even own them)
Not a big chance of getting caught with it unless someone would be going around swinging and showing it off. Or it's just been used stabbing 4-5 guys
K/ommandos!
I'm seriously debating onna PTR 308 with the paddle release. I had the chance to play with one recently and fell in love with it.
Do you have any thoughts or opinions on it?
Inb4 heavy and bulky. I'm a big guy.
>PTR 308
Do you mean the PTR91 or the Century C308?
>>28263283
PTR 91.
I'm artarded but I've heard plenty of horror stories on the Century based guns. I had the pleasure of disassembling a C51 to find shit welds and a ground bolt face. mismatch rollers too.
Enjoy a semen demon.
