I once went to the black part of town and asked if there was someone who would be willing to sell me a handgun in working condition, just because I am beginning to despair of finding one from a reputable seller, and don't want to wait until I turn 21.

What does /k/ think of the oldest active-duty warship in the world - the river patrol boat Capitán Cabral of the Paraguay navy? It was built in Holland in 1903 as a tugboat, was overhauled into a warship in 1908 and shipped across the Atlantic. It remains in ACTIVE service today - not just symbolic "service," or as a museum ship.
The ship is 33.90m (111ft) long and has a displacement of 206 tons, sailing on a Caterpillar 3408 diesel engine installed in 1980 to replace the original steam engines. It is armed with a Bofors 40 mm gun, two Oerlikon 20 mm cannon, and two 12.7mm machine gun emplacements.
It last saw heavy combat in 1989, during a coup in the capital Asunción. Since then, it has mainly been used for river patrol/anti-smuggling operations and disaster relief. It typically carries a complement of 25, though it can carry an additional 55 passengers during disaster evacuations (Paraguay has a lot of floods).

I have 5 guns

What are ways to remove the rust?
I know dome must've been in the family from when my grandfather was a kid
I want my kids to be able to enjoy these as much as I know I will, and even more than my grandfather has.
There is a 12 gage, a .410, 2 22's and a 30 30

Buy a cleaning kit with brushes for each caliber. Get some Hoppe's #9 and some gun oil. Follow the instructions. Resist the urge to scrub the shit out of them; overcleaning is a thing. A damp rag, followed by a dry rag for the wood. Some oil (3 in 1 works fine) for the metal. Any sporting goods store that sells guns will have patches, rods, and brushes for the appropriate bore size.

Yes, but the 1911 has no "spec", so don't expect anything off-the-shelf to drop in perfectly.
If you can find a part from the same manufacturer it will likely require less or no fitting though.

So would the Navy or the Army be a better choice if i want to go to school for engineering?
I'm considering joining the military so I can start a career path. I have nothing going for me in my life right now and would rather not be some warehouse worker my whole life.
I don't think I could join the Air Force as I never graduated highschool and I've heard they only accept a few GED holders.
Suggestions?

(Naval intelligence, aircraft mechanic, nuclear engineer etc.) you do have to do really well on your ASVAB tho to get any good technical job. I never explored army career options tho so I may be mistaken.

What does /k/ think of fancy or semi fancy stocks for milsurps like an m1 garand?
My garand stock is quite worn, the rifle itself was built in 1954 so just after Korea and I doubt it went to Vietnam as I bought it in socialist Canada
I dont want to refinish the original stock-i'd rather keep it original but buy another stock to replace it.
