Would you ever consider buying a 'smart' gun?
Do you think the technology will reach a point where it's reliable enough to depend upon for your life?
when all niggers are deported to africa or sent up chimneys
>>28468649
Nope. Guns are not phones. Jamming fragile electronics required to make the weapon function will result in a lot of broken guns.
>>28468649
Fuck no, even if God promised it'd be 100% reliable: I wouldn't get one on the principal that the concept is fucking stupid.
Why do glocks suck so much cock /k/ post here with why. In a debate currently.
guns do what their users make them do

Imagine having an muscle car in all steel. The curves, the sound, the feel... romantic.
Now imagine a smaller car, made of lighter materials, and with a cheaper tag come out and you now have to drive it.
It's not that it's a piece of shit. It's actually a good car.... but it feels like shit.

>An inert U.S. Hellfire missile sent to Europe for training purposes was wrongly shipped from there to Cuba in 2014, said people familiar with the matter, a loss of sensitive military technology that ranks among the worst-known incidents of its kind.
>This particular missile didn’t contain explosives, but U.S. officials worry that Cuba could share the sensors and targeting technology inside it with nations like China, North Korea or Russia, these people said. Officials don’t suspect Cuba is likely to try to take apart the missile on its own and try to develop similar weapons technology, these people said. It is unclear whether a U.S. adversary has ever obtained such knowledge of a Hellfire.

Thompson/center pistol in 7-30 waters with a kydex iwb holster
I swear this isn't bait, first off.
Honestly, why carry a gun for self defense? If the primary purpose of a self-defense firearm is to "stop" the attacker rather than kill them, and most of these scenarios occur within 0-7 yards at the very most, why isn't a taser a better choice?
Smaller handgun rounds common in carry guns like .380 or .32 acp are not actually excellent "stoppers", especially against larger targets. A taser will drop almost anyone, drugged up or not, in a second.
I'm not trying to imply that you're obsessed with killing someone by carrying a gun. But I still think a taser is a less-lethal, equally guaranteed method to bring down an attacker. Since you can only carry handguns legally, and you should always bring a long gun to a gun fight, why carry one at all?
>>28467028
Because when I shoot a nigger, I want him dead.
Guns kill people quicker than tasers.
You're more likely to tase yourself than shoot yourself.
Guns are more effective deterrents.
Let people carry guns, quit creating kill zones for shooters.

I've asked this before, but I never really got anything satisfactory. Is this a meme caliber? Or am I subscribing to the 12" of penetration meme, and it's perfectly fine for unarmored humans and mid-size predators (dogs, coyotes, wildcats)?
Nothing I see on the market both expands reliably while penetrating 12" or more in .380. The few things that might satisfy those requirements not feed reliably in any of the guns I've tried them in. For example, the Hornady XTP or pic related.
Why isn't there some sort of semi-bonded hollow point design that can offer expansion at the tip without compromising penetration, and in a round-nose design that actually fucking feeds and cycles reliably?
What should you, or do you carry in your .380 for self defense? Should I just give up on the lower recoiling round, and just carry a subcompact 9mm or .38 special?
shoot an attacker with 3 rounds of .380
shoot an attacker with 3 rounds of 9mm
shoot an attacker with 3 rounds of 45 ACP
how much of a difference do you really think there will be? I choose not a .380 for conceal carry but rather I chose a small subcompact that just happens to be in .380
Ruger LCP, Tarus TCP and SW Bodyguard are perfect size for pocket carry and they are all in .380. On paper 9 and 45 are better but I dont want to the bigger pistol on me to carry. Sometimes I have a 9 on my side on a holster but mainly I have my .380 concealed.
.380 is a perfectly effective self defense round at the range it's intended for
I assume the lack of customized loads is due to feed issues

So is there any real reason to use a shotgun over a modern tactical rifle in modern combat? And I'm including all forms of combat in this, from home defense to a full blown war zone.
I know shotguns still have their place in hunting and sport, and their fun as fuck to shoot, but in terms of fighting other humans they seem objectively inferior to an AR or AK. Less than a third as many rounds, heavy as fuck recoil, shorter range (I said shortER sperglords, I know they are still effective past video game distances,) louder, and unless you have the money to drop on a reliable auto you're stuck with a manual action. The only thing they have in their favor is raw power (but there's a reason we use intermediate calibers as the go-to nowadays), and spread.

>>28465441
Who the fuck uses a shotgun in modern combat anyway as a main service firearm?
>>28465441
Oh, and I forgot, slower to reload and heavier ammo.
>>28465451
Fair enough. Is there any reason other than legal restrictions?
Can someone explain to me why anti-ship missiles are considered so deadly? I thought in war, ships would hit each other with shells that were much larger and had more explosives in them, and AP shells could penetrate through armor belts.
>>28465341
HE is more destructive than a big chunk of steel like those cannon shells
Things like exocets or harpoons wouldn't do anything to a battleship though.
>>28465341

>Comparing a battleship's shell to a lighter weight missile like an Exocet

Tell me then admiral, why don't we see battleships being used then?
Are Revolver manufacturers required to install internal locks by law? Or is it merely caving to political pressure? Is it a state by state issue?
I think it's only specific manufacturers that do it. I know Ruger doesn't.
The same conglomerate that owns S&W also owns an integral gun lock company/patents. S&W management publicly sided with Clinton on gun locks for this reason and perhaps others, and they remain on new S&W revolvers to this day.
