got done hanging out with my ranger acquaintance, he shed some light on selection, RASP/RIP/ROPE, and his actual missions.
i asked how bad is the washout rate, i had heard it was close to 70%
>easily. probably close to 25% on the first day
of course PT is bad, but HOW bad?
>the most grueling experience of his life. his PT instructor qualified for the Olympics. twice. in track and field. you need to be able to keep up with his sub-10minute 2mile over to the field for PT, do PT until failure, then the same run back to barracks.
there's a lot more, but these are a couple things that stuck out and I've heard people ask about stuff like this here
December 8, 1941.
One day after the day of infamy, the United States of America declares war on the Empire of Japan.
You have been nominated by emperor Hirohito and prime minister Tojo to be the chief of the Japanese military.
What is your plan? What does Japan have to do in order to achieve its goals? How to do so?
What are my goals?
No really, what are my goals?
>Complete dominance of the Pacific
hahahahaha fuck off
Destroy the Panama canal.
Bombard Alaskan oil refiniries until they're out of business.
Utilize muh hindsight to get Manchurian oil
Don't deploy carriers piecemeal
Create an ASW frigate to protect the merchant marine
Keep building Shoukakus, don't fall for the armored flight deck meme
Institute an American-style pilot training program, to lessen training issues over a war of attrition.
Blockade Australia and minimize the number of scattered island garrisons requiring resupply.
Try and nail American carriers with the full might of the Kido Butai, but don't spread them too thin.
Try for a negotiated peace after in late 1942-early 43

"HOWEVER DO NOT EMAIL ME AND WASTE MY TIME TRYING TO BUY SOMETHING YOU CAN NOT AFFORD IN THE FIRST PLACE." - The description
The guy wants to trade it for a Benelli m2 or an SBE 2
Do western militaries have a rapid replacement system if things get destroyed?
What if 30 MBTs get destroyed in a single engagement or 10 fighters get shot down simultaneously?
>>28911728
remember pearl harbor?
that absolutely devastating attack that nearly crippled the American fleet back in WW2.
the vast majority of those ships were back in functioning condition and ready to sail within a month.
The US carries more than 20 fighter jets on each carrier and still has more waiting on the main land. numbers are unquestionably one of the US military's greatest strengths.
now Europe on the other hand...
yeah that might be damaging to the capabilities of an individual nation.

Ever see pics of The Boneyard in AZ?
All of those aircraft can be made airworthy in weeks. They have similar areas with Abrams and Bradley hulls.

Pic related. It's on my keychain, so I have it on me the most. Still carry a bigger folder with me most of the time depending on the task or feeling. Big believe in one is none two is one.
Pretty much carry all the time
I usually carry a CRKT, but recently picked up a Spyderco Tenacious and have been carrying that for a while

What? Really?
>>28911168
Good bait.
So I agree that the M1A2 Abrams is pprobably one of the best tanks out there, but my question is just why it can't fire ATGMs from its tube yet?
>>28910697
Meh, when someone makes a tube launched ATGM that's the equal in performance of a regular ATGM like a TOW2 or even a Kornet, it'll be something worth striving for. Until then, APFSDS that have great penetration throughout their engagement range are a better option simply because of the logistics involved. It also doesn't help that all ATGMs are HEAT based and any tank past the mid 80's has absurd amounts of HEAT protection.
In other words, it'll happen when it happens. Though I think it's safe to say that at this point the entire NLOS ATGM concept is rapidly eclipsing the usefulness of tube launched ATGMs.
soviet tanks were only developed with bore-launched missiles to make up for their inherent inferiority in a 1v1 fight with NATO heavy-hitters (inb4 vatniks). This is the exact reason that the Sheridan had a missile, to make it more of a threat to much heavier tanks.
clearly, because NATO MBTs still lack bore-launched ATGMs, NATO armor strategists still feel their tanks are inherently superior to the ex-soviets'
however, with new threats like the Armata coming on the stage, and considering the fact that Israel now has bore-launched missiles, it's becoming somewhat a better question.
now I don't profess to know much about current-gen armor, but my question was always "How come no NATO tanks have external TOW launchers like the Bradley?" because that would be a much easier change to implement.
>>28910697
You know it's coming sooner or later.
This is what the military thinks it will be like.
No, bombing skyscrapers is not a good idea
Imagine fires fucking everywhere.
Sigs. That long trigger pull has always bugged me. Is it designed so that you always have the slack taken-up? Does a SEAL walk around with his trigger half-pulled all the time when in combat? I started to imagine it like a clutch lever almost- something you keep tension on. Am I over thinking this? I've never fired another pistol like it.
>>28909708
I'll school you since I too was confused as fuck and the p228 was my first gun I ever shot and I know how confusing it is.
It's specifically designed to be carried with a round in the chamber. The heavy Double Action pull is meant to be at ~10-11lbs so you don't accidentally discharge it because its so heavy that you need to make a concious effort to pull it.
After that, every other shot is a crisp and light 4lb Single Action pull. There's guns like the 1911 that are Single Action Only (SAO) but instead of a Double Action pull, it uses a manual safety instead.
And yes, seals and everyone else train on the DA to SA transition. The sig's Double Action is actually very smooth for a DA trigger pull. It's one of the best DA/SA production guns you can get really. I've practiced enough with my p226 where the DA isn't a problem at all.

I pull the DA in one continuous pull, no staging

It seems most people that carry a concealed handgun on a daily basis opt for some compact or even a pocket pistol. How cumbersome is a full sized service handgun? I carry a K-frame with a four inch barrel on my waste in all seasons. This is saying something, as I live in the Mojave desert, and daily highs north of 105 degrees are par for the course. Summer wear is typically baggy cargo shorts, a wife beater, and a short sleeve button up (I find that colorfully patterned Hawaiian shirts do well to break up the outline of any object one might have underneath). I don't find my gun to be overly difficult to carry, and I have never left it at home due to discomfort or weather. I'd like to know if full sized handguns are really difficult for most people, or is it just a matter of laziness?
Full disclosure, I'm a 6'1" 200lb male, so my dimensions may skew my view on this issue.
I'll be expelled if I'm discovered to be carrying. A single-stack 9mm makes sense until I graduate. (It's legal in my state, before the swarm of noguns start calling me an idiot criminal)
Not every person's situation is the same as yours OP, that's why they make different kinds of guns.
>>28909425
6'3" 210lb nerd here.
>Summer wear is typically baggy cargo shorts, a wife beater, and a short sleeve button up (I find that colorfully patterned Hawaiian shirts do well to break up the outline of any object one might have underneath).

>because nobody suspects the guy in the Hawaiian shirt of concealing a gun

I'd give Lilly MEINE Hosen if you know what I mean.
I'm looking for a lightweight, reliable bolt action .308
Any recommendations?
You can never go wrong with a brand new Remington 770.
Remington 700.
A general budget would probably help.
I hear many good things about the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard series, and have been planning on picking one up at some point. It's reliable, light, and cheap.
Let's be serious for a minute.
How many former SF/Force Recon/SEAL/Rangers live in a sub $50,000 bracket after they leave the military?
Pic related was supposedly a former SF guy living in crack houses. I doubt the military would leave a member of SOF in that bad a shape.
>>28908873
You'd be surprised how little the military cares for people after they separate
The only time they ever contact former service is if you owe them money
