It's one of those things where he might be right about 1 or 2 things but it is so buried in hyperbole it becomes meaningless. All of his proposed solutions would have ended up causing bigger problems down the road.
Based on what I've read, the only thing he really got right when he was with the DoD was the A-10 (writing the basic requirements), and that was because he was willing to actually talk with Skyraider pilots and Stuka pilots about stuff. Even then, his insistence on using the cheapest avionics possible really hindered the Warthog until it was upgraded.

Help me /k/, my friend is an indoctrinated liberal, and is convinced that an ar15 upper reciever is a firearm. What do the laws and regulations regarding upper recievers? His arguement is that under U.S. code, Title 18 chapter 44 states:
(3)The term “firearm” means (A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon; (C) any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; or (D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm.
What laws and regulations specifically govern ar15 upper recievers? The law seems pretty vague.

What's the best battle rifle option for less than a thousand dollars? It has occurred to me that that's an empty slot in my collection at the moment and I'd like to correct that.
I've been looking at the VEPR in 54r but the lack of reliable magazines larger than 5 rounds is a turnoff.

Soup freindos, I'm now the owner of a Type 99 except my type 99 has no ground marks where the mum should be as there is no mum this is weird to me. What gives?
Also why are rounds so unnaturally tight when unlocking and locking the bolt? Is it a headspacing issue?

If you live in USA, Canada, the urban areas of South America and 99% of Europe a real SHTF scenario is extremely unlikely to happen.
In most places the worst you might experience is a power outage that lasts a couple of days and some people braking into shops because they know the security systems will not be working.
This is true even in case of natural disasters since the people who are not rescued within the first 48h would were probably in a situation where they would not survive even if they were the best of weekend operators.
If you live in any of the areas that I mentioned, statistically speaking learning how the stock market works and investing your money is a much better way of prepping than learning survival techniques and spending the money on operator gear.
At best you are just a guy who likes camping, and if you can admit to that it's all good. But at worst you are a paranoid maniac who watches too many zombie movies.
