Heya /k/ommandos,
I'm seeking a shotgun I can use for both home defense and hunting birds/deer. The thing is I don't know much about shotguns so I figured I'd come ask you guys. Ideally I'd like it to be a double-barrel ( either over/under or side/side ) but I'm open to everything priced at $1500.00 and under although I'd ideally like to spend no more than 1k.
Pic related: The 687 Silver Pigeon III from Beretta which is out of my price range and the Stoeger Double Defense which is currently is the shotty I'll buy if I can't find anything with your help.

Just get Mossberg 500-something. Any model pretty much will do.
Pros:
-costs mere 200$ at lowest. Generally less than 500 anyway.
-sexy pump.
-5+1 or higher capacity.
-easy to pimp with aftermarket furniture.
Cons:
-none?
I got a 500A very much like in the pic related; 24" barrel, muzzle-brake vents on top, sweet OD polymer furniture. Pops clay and birds alike, and never has failed on me.

O/U's are the best shotgun for wing shooting, but there are better options for home defense. So if you think youre going to be shooting skeet and going dove hunting as much as possible, then an O/U is great. If it is just going to sit around for home defense and you only fire it a few times a season, then it's probably not worth it and should get a Benelli autoloader since you're already looking to spend that money. Mossberg 500 are fine for the cheaper price, though. It's kinda like saying you're willing to spend $60,000 on a car and someone tells you to just buy a Civic and mod it.

I see myself using the o/u once or twice a month at my local gun club in addition to using it for home defense and fowl/buck hunting. I'd simply like a well-rounded o/u if there is one out there. The problem with me is I have NO clue about Shotguns at all. I don't know how to tell what gauges/shots are meant for what animal, etc.
Can we use pic related ( http://www.weatherby.com/products/shotguns/over-under/orion-over-under.html ) as an example? I actually found these new for well under the MSRP in my area and they seem to have good reviews but I have no clue to tell what types of things I could hunt with this. On the other hand it is nice-enough looking for me to hang on a wall in my home in a place where I can access it easily if I should ever need it to defend family/friends/myself. Their website says it is good for upland birds/clays but how did they come to that conclusion?
I am the kind of person who agonizes on choosing his firearms. Battle rifle/DMR? Love the .308 it's devastating, even in low capacity compared to it's intermediate friends (average 20rd mags vs 30rd mags), universially available ammo, but weight of ammo and rifle would not lend easy to long hauls and fatigue would set in (for the average joe).
AKs? 7.62x39 offerings offer a great punch but fmj will ice pick, and SST doesn't have the same barrier punching abilities as it's fmj counterpart, also heavier than 5.56 to carry in a loadout. Not to mention that while it is accurate enough, there is something to be said for the more accurate AR-15, and while AK-74s are a thing I've never been particularly interested. Not to mention that the AK suffers when it comes to being as modular as other offerings.
AR-15? More modular, lighter weight, less recoil than others, accurate, but for some reason 5.56 doesn't inspire confidence especially against barriers or in brush where 7.62x39 or .308 would normally not have as many problems.
Help me out /k/. My rifle's purpose would be camping and SHTF, range fun and riding along in the car, my environment is 100 miles within the DFW, Texas area so it could be light forests, to cities in SHTF (which is a pipedream I realize but I don't count it out)

Tell me what DMR is supposed to mean.
Be advised, I'm ready to laugh my ass off at and correct you because I think I know what you mean.
The only reason I put DMR and Battle rifle in the same category is because my concerns are the same, but if I have to define DMR, it's the squad level rifleman's rifle that can reach out further than normal engagement distance if need be. The caliber isn't necessarily .308 (some are 5.55) but personally I perfer them in .308. Correct me if I'm wrong.
>>29357594
OK, then I will not be snarky.
I was an 0311 that played in sand. I assume by DMR you meant Designated Rifleman? Yes?
It's a theory. Never utilized. We all carry the same gear. If GI Joe spots a dude, he wants the kill so he's gonna shoot.
I scored higher than the other Marines in my squad on the rifle range. I told them I was the DM. They didn't care. Just like you don't care.
It's assuming shit is like a preplanned mission like a Rainbow Six game. In reality.
>fuck! I'm getting shot at
>shoot over there!
Got my tax refund in and am interested in my first firearm. A handgun specifically. Mostly for personal protection and worst case scenarios. Will not be carrying it normally.
I know absolutely nothing about guns. I am looking for something that is easy to use and very reliable. I want to bury this fucker in muddy sand for a week pull it out and not have it jam. Look to stay under $900
What do you recommend /k/?
Obrez
If you want it for protection what's the point if you don't carry daily?
>>29357015
Home invasion or general havoc. Job doesn't permit weapons on location and I don't want to leave it in my car all the time.
Anyone else think these things would look great with a magpul carbine stock?
>>29356525
pls no
>>29356525
At that point it'd be almost unrecognizable at a glance, but would look cool as hell.
Fuck the haters that are purists over a reproduction firearm that's meant to be tricked out by the owner.
>>29356643
>but would look cool as hell
damn straight it would, and it has already been confirmed you can do it

One could always keep the original for when he wants to play nazi
We have seen that Russia is capable of projecting its Air power into Syria. However, Slavaboos and Muricafags aside, could the Russian military invade Syria sustain a large military presence for years similar to what the US did in Afghanistan and Iraq?
Will bump with Russian military photos in the meantime.
for what purpose

What's that thing called when governments start cutting orders to save money, but that just pushes up the cost per unit leading to more cancellations, pushing up the cost, which leads to even more cancellations and so on?

The good news is that the Canadian government really doesn't have enough pull to affect the actual price of the F-35. I personally think they'll end up buying Super Hornets just so that Trudeau can keep his retarded campaign promise and still keep some commonality with the US navy.

War would be totally cool if you
>couldnt lose limbs/ suffer extreme pain, just die or be alive
>it was fought in a 20ºc temperature
>enemy would not torture you
but as long as foot trench or heat shock , isis torture or losing both arms exist
fuck war
>Wae would be awesome if it wasn't war
You're dumb. War is not comfortable. It's brutal.

So... Basicly call of duty?
Get the fuck out
So after asking /out/ about hunting rifles/shotguns I got sent here. Long story short...
>Dad has been asking me to go hunting with him for the past few years.
>I lacked the money to do so.
>I got tax refund of 2k.
>Figure I can surprise him for his birthday by sending a pic of me with a hunting rifle or shotgun w/ hunter's safety certificate & dressed in orange.
I was looking at just rifles until somebody mentioned a lot of areas in Wisconsin were "Shotgun only" areas. I'm not opposed to a shotgun because it opens up hunting waterfowl to me. The thing is I'm not sure where to really begin looking for good firearms.
I'm open to any suggestions you have for rifles but as far as shotguns go I'm fond of the way over/under look/work. Ideally I'd like to spend no more than $700 but if need be I'm willing to spend more.
Can you help me /Kkommandos? I know I'm not talking about tactical firearms ( feel free to pitch some of those to me too though ) but I'd really like to put a smile on his face for his birthday and finally give him somebody to go hunting with.
Rifle: Remington 700 or Tikka T3
Shotgun: Savage Stephens 555
Those should be a good place to start
>>29355512
Second the rifle, but alternately a mossberg 500 for the shotgun. Is there a range that rents guns in your area? If so, go there, shoot some guns, get which you like best.
>>29355384
Poorfag mode if you want to save money. Savage axis/ruger american and maverick 88 or mossberg 500.
Avoid remington

Where the hell is it legal to own a grenade launcher? Can you imagine hunting with one of those?
How hard is it really to get into special forces?
Delta, Rangers, JTF-2, etc.
What do they look for? Do you go to them and tell them you're interested? Do they look at how you interact with your fellow soldiers? Is there testing done aside from stuff on the range that would make them pick you over someone else?
Are they essentially handpicking soldiers with specific traits out of the platoons or is it kind of open to apply for the courses? I heard anyone, including Canadians can apply for the Rangers course.
>>29354655
Whats with all the canucks shilling JTF2 at every fucking oppertunity.
>>29354668
They're the best we have in Canada and incredibly elusive. Hard to find out much of anything about them in comparison to other special forces but last I heard is they're training Kurdish snipers right now.
>>29354655
>what do they look for?
They look for you. They look for this random post. Thats how they know if youre serious. You'll be contacted later.
What are your opinions on the M113?
>>29354199
Amazing when not compared to other more specialized vehicles. Good for those who don't wanna spend much but wanna have a multi platform vehicle. Just don't expect that it having a gun means that its gonna be an unstoppable killing machine
The armor is shit but I just love how they look.
The Gaven is a quality platform.
Is SAD SOG really as spooky as everyone thinks it is?
>>29354076
Yes, very spooky. Here's a recent photo of them
>>29354076
Probably just dudes. Worked with normal CIA and the dude was actually quite outgoing and liked stupid shit like Family Guy and whatnot.
You turn game face on and off, and sometimes it helps to have a non-spooky personality.
Most spookiest dudes are DOD civilians anyway.
>>29354228
Why DOD civilians?

Ongoing asset expansion and combat capability upgrade for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), both to counter external (PRC) and internal (both commies and secessionist rebels)
>AW-159 wildcat to complement aw-109 for ASW duty
>2 ex-USCGC Boutwell from USA
>2 modernized C-130T to bolster PAF tactical transport capability
>LCH (landing craft) from Australia
>more M113s from USA via EDA
Other than that, AFP are also looking for more capable MPA to complement TC-90 MPA from Japan. Both EADS C-295 MPA and Bombardier/Elbit Dash-8 MPA are considered.
Other than that, the army is looking for new helmets for the infantry as they are just not enough combat helmets for everyone.
Landing crafts for PN
Helicopter Carrier for PN
2 additional C-130 for PAF
What is the purpose of co-witnessing?
>>29353877
if your shit's fucked up, no problem
Being still able to aim accurately once your EOtech inevitably draons its batteries and does out
Being able to shoot straight when your dumb optic runs out of battery.
Dont buy red dot sights
They are for FAGS
buy acogs or similar scopes instead :^)
How hard would this be? Presuming we can get all the gear we need out there, what consequences would it have? What countries would try to intervene? Does Sealand have any form of military protection of it's own? How many /k/ommandos would it take?
some say that this legendary Cold War-era operator operates from Sealand so I wouldn't try invading it.
Just look at it. There's no way up if they don't want you up there.
>>29353446
UK would have none of it and they'd send out elements of the Royal Navy to tell you to piss off, actually firing on the Royal Navy is just going to give you a severe case of dead.
