does anyone utilize throw away guns? Scenario: I don't want the police to confiscate a nice gun for evidence in the case of self defence. Why not keep a nice, custom gun that we know is accurate and reliable, but also keep a shi**y gun in the same caliber. If you need to shoot someone, do it with the good gun, then hide it. Bring out the crappy gun and lay it at the crime scene. Make sure the barrel is dirty and at least the number of rounds you shot is missing from the mag. Police will take the crappy one for evidence and you keep the good one. I plan on getting a hi point to use for my throw away but I guess as long as caliber matches anything will work.
The fuck? How would the fired rounds match the barrel?
If they fire the throw away gun in the investigation, which they probably would never go that in depth into it, the rounds fired from the hi nigger won't match the fancy gun.

do you really think local police will run ballistics tests when they have the 'smoking gun' in front of them?
>>29446536
see above. they wont bother to do that.
How come Jihadists/terrorists/freedom fighters/moderate rebels dont become deaf when none of them uses ear protecting while firing their AK's?
>>29446244
Who says they aren't deaf?
They are always yelling at each other in the war footage.
>>29446244
who says they don't?
>>29446244
Because shortly after shooting them, they tend to blow themselves up.
I highly doubt that they are concerned with health and safety with that in mind.
Why are they fitted with 3-round burst only?
What's the advantage over full auto?
Why does it seem to get so much criticism on this board?
How can it be fixed?
>>29446191
the M16A2 rifle and carbine, and M4 carbine used a 3 round burst under the idea that controlled burst fire was more effective than panicked automatic fire. additionally the 3 round burst was selected because very often two of the rounds would hit the target and one round will likely cause a wound. soldiers in the field during night ambushes would become blinded easy by lots of automatic gunfire, and likewise the 20 round magazine would very quick run dry.
other burst mechanisms exist, but the reasons for their use are largely the same: controlling the rate of fire so that there are more rounds on target than wasted as noise - the purpose of a rifleman is accurate point shooting, not suppressing fire (that's the automatic rifleman's job).
most submachineguns and carbines retained full auto as they were expected to be used in close quarters at short ranges and the more ammunition you fire the more likely you are to hit at close ranges.
>>29446191
>Why are they fitted with 3-round burst only?
The idea is that it prevents soldiers from wasting ammo.
>What's the advantage over full auto?
It prevents soldiers from wasting ammo.
>Why does it seem to get so much criticism on this board?
Because most countries allow their soldiers full auto and being limited to burst fire makes the M16/M4 seem inferior to other rifles like the G-36 that can go full-auto. Also, the burst fire mechanism itself is poorly implemented and it actually reduces the reliability of the weapon system.
>How can it be fixed?
Swap out the lowers for ones that allow full-auto.
We didn't like it when they were first introduced either. When I was in, we had full auto A1s. Everything was hunky-dory. Then they gave us this 3 round burst crap. It is a disadvantage in a counter ambush. Depending on where the cam last set, you may only be able to fire one round when you pull the trigger instead of three rounds. It's a shitty configuration.
Can any academic types lead me to some peer reviewed articles that support teachers being allowed to concealed carry weapons? I\ve tried looking myself, but the database that my school has the password for is extremely biased to the left on this issue.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
>>29446009
Specifically for the purpose of being quick to respond to the threat of school shooters would be great. Thanks, /k/.
Please help me convince my rather liberal class.
>>29446009
I use scholar.Google.com to find sources for my uni papers , thank me later nigga
>>29446017
Huh, never even knew this existed
Does a country really needs air defence (beyond SHORADS, Manpads and AAAs. why AAAs? because fuck you that's why) in the presence of strong air force?
I mean, any self respecting air force would have the capability to intercept (and destroy, if necessary) any objects/entities that intrude its airspace, while their air defence is limited to point defence only (to guard strategic assets ie airbases, power plants, key national installations, etc) to guard against surprise buttsex
>>29445790
Layered defence
>>29445790
Yes.
>>29445790
Yes, because Russia and our air force is not big enough for 1 vs 1 slugfest
Hey /k/
So I just got out of the Marine Corps, and I've been thinking about Joining the French Foreign Legion. Any advice on how I should go about doing this?
>>29445548

Prepare to get raped by dindus
I'm looking for a .22lr 12g under-over, and I recently came across the Chiappa M6-22. Anyone on /k/ have experience with it? What are your thoughts?
With all the people on here who talk about NDing, I think it's likely that hunters have fucked up with these combo rifles. Imagine that rabbit that got slammed with a load of 12. Or the boar that got pricked by a .22.
Is it cheaper than the savage?
The few reviews I've seen were not very good, as expected of Chiappa most of the time. Their typical mix of interesting idea and shoddy making.
The rails are plastic and have been seen shearing off under recoil with an optic on.
The sub caliber adapters are expensive for what they are and not very accurate, but you can get the rifle without them.
Still not ure about the durability of the stock in adverse conditions, but for everyday use it should hold up.
Alright /k/.
So my buddy had a garage fire and his stupid self left a bunch of guns to be burned.
The mak90 he owned was the only " survivor. "
It's mostly coated with the shit the FD used to fight a fire, and some rust.
What is the best way to remove this gunk?
I am not currently trying to get the gun to fire as I comprehend the fact that fire + metal can be dangerous.
It will be a mantle piece, but I want it to look good.
Thanks in advance
>>29445137
shoot it
>>29445141
>I have nothing to contribute
If it is ever test fired, its gonna be from a bench w/ a vice and 100feet of fishing line.
I enjoy all my fingers tbhfam
Flush as much of the foam residue off as you can with clean water, then paint thinner, then motor oil.
Scrape off what rust you can with steel wool. Rinse with water, dry it, and use http://www.homedepot.com/p/Loctite-16-fl-oz-Naval-Jelly-Rust-Dissolver-Bottle-553472/203009241 on what you can't get off with steel wool.
Rinse it off well and then cold blue it or paint it with something like duracoat or cerakote.
Hey /k/ what's a good legal shotgun in North Carolina?
>>29445040
I mean pretty much anything that's legal in the rest of the country you can get here, we don't really have any laws besides the regular Federal stuff with shotguns, or are you asking more environmental wise?
Quick hijack.
I have a buddy out there, and are there any decent ranges near Jacksonville?
SPAS-12, like everyone else.
I'm moving back to America in a couple of months and was looking for a first carry/first ever handgun and the p64 pistol and Makarov both really caught my eye. Anybody had any experience with either of these? Is 9X18 too much for a first handgun?
Links:

Ghetto as fuck. Literally why tier.
Get a LCR or LCP or something you goofball
I have a Makaroni.
9x18 isn't too much too handle.
Its a reliable small gun with an unique charm.
I can only recommend getting one.
>>29444981
>Is 9X18 too much for a first handgun?
hahahahahaha no its on the weaker side of things
all in all its a outdated choice for ccw but if its what you got its what youve got
Pic related. Literally everything you need in a neat little package.
those taste like crap

Whats the shelf life on those little bastards.

>Should the military replace hot combat meals with moderate menu variety and varying textures with a single flavored diet block extremely slim in either menu or texture?
So buying pic related on tomorrow from armslist. Had 100 or so rounds through it so far, comes with 120 rounds 1 30rd mag, box n manual, and ironsight. For $600. Now I will be hasguns and I'm quite excited. Advice? Did I fuck up?
build a PSA and get the sexy fn barrel for the same price
>>29444366
A used DPMS Sportical for $600 is pretty shit anon.
meh/10, you didn't fuck up, but its not that good of a deal. My work sells new ones for $539 pretty consistently, and the 120 rounds are worth about $40-50.
And since we're on /k/, moist nugget, atf pls go, and OP is a faggot
hey /k/, /v/ here looking for a little advice for a newbie to firearms. I wouldn't say im the best, but im pretty decent and FPS and im looking to start approaching actual real guns and shooting. what kind of guns should I get? are there any kinds of cool special ammo clips like bolas or incendiary ammo that are obtainable by public?
Basically i need help learning how to get into the hobby. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated.
pic unrelated. a cupcake for your trouble, thanks!
Greetings, /v/irgin. You might want to start with .22 LR assuming it's available in your area. Maybe something like pic related.
>>29443998
>that plastic frame
>that soft rubber handle
>that red spot
That gun looks kinda like a toy. Is this bait?
>>29443998
Not OP and purely hypothetical, but what if 22lr isn't available for whatever reason?
Just got back from my LGS and checked this thing out. Why does it cost almost $2000 dollars? What am I missing here
You're getting fucked. It's listed at $1200 on Springfield's website.
>>29443726
Nostalgia.
>>29443764
kek really? this gun store does not have competitive pricing then. It's one of only two in my area though so maybe that's how they can get away with it
If I already own a 1911, is there any reason to also have one of these?
>>29443549
Just get a CZ in 9mm m8.
Because you like it
Because you want to try a new platform
Because you're familiar with.45autos recoil characterists
Because ammo commonality
Because it's a pretty good gun.
Unless your only buying guns for SD or very specific reasons, the main reason to buy another gun is because you like guns. Thats part of the hobby
>needs a reason to buy new guns
