>Australia's next generation of submarines will be built in Adelaide in partnership with French company DCNS. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told reporters on Tuesday it was a "momentous national endeavour". The recommendation of a competitive evaluation process and the experts who oversaw it, as well as the Department of Defence, was unequivocal. The French offer represented the capabilities best able to meet Australia's unique needs, Mr Turnbull said. "This is a great day for our navy, a great day for Australia's 21st century economy, a great day for the jobs of the future." The project is expected to generate 2800 Australian jobs. "The submarine project alone will see Australian workers building Australian submarines with Australian steel, here where we stand today," Mr Turnbull said. Advanced manufacturing technology and skills were key to Australia's economic future, he said. Defence Minister Marise Payne said the submarines were necessary for Australia's national security. "It reflects the fact that we are a maritime-based trading nation and both our national and economic security are linked to the maritime environment of our region," she said. Mr Turnbull thanked German firm ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and the Japanese government for their "high quality" bids. He said the combat system would be sourced from the United States. Senator Payne said the process had been robust, strong, methodical and rigorous. Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Tim Barrett said the country needed 12 submarines which were "regionally superior". "Navy will now work with industry, strongly, to make sure we deliver on that promise to government," he said. Originally published as France wins $50 billion submarine project
Well, the French did some good underwater renovations on the Rainbow Warrior.
Anyone know anything about the sub design itself? If they're converting it to conventional power, that seems like a conversion clusterfuck waiting to happen.

>DCNS will propose a conventionally powered version – named the Shortfin Barracuda Block 1A – as its pre-concept design for competitive evaluation process (CEP) phase of Australia's Collins-class submarine replacement. “While exact details remain confidential, DCNS can confirm the Shortfin Barracuda is over 90 metres in length and displaces more than 4,000 tons when dived,” said Sean Costello, CEO DCNS Australia.[11]
AUSTRALIA OUI!
that allows this. And it's not even a shitty Thunderbolt.
Shouldn't a reloading die fix that?
Assuming you were Jewish enough to bother.
>>29739276
Yes because it is remshit.
>>29739293

Hey y'all, I'm the same anon who was working on a stock refinish two weeks ago. I put up a thread last time and it seemed to go over well, so feel free to chill and discuss whatever. Tonight I'm going to try and install some replacement parts on my shotgun
One last part before I take everything apart again.

Anyways, there's a raised bit on the spacer that prevents it from sitting properly. I'll have to have one of my friends file it down, I don't have the tools for that right now.
Here's the trigger assembly. Time to see how the new one fits.
where does /k/ buy their bullets? I'm not talking about the whole cartridge just the bullet.
Any sites that give free shipping? sales on bulk?
specifically I'm looking for .223 Hornady 75g BTHP
>>29738749
>Free shipping
Not when they can only use ground. If you do see free shipping they figured that 10 dollars into the cost of the ammo somewhere.
>>29738827
figured as much. still looking for sites that offer good deals on bulk. midway is pretty hit and miss and I don't know of any other site really.
>>29738897
sgammo is my go-to. They ship fast and are american/family owned if that matters to you. aimsurplus is another great option.
Getting my first handgun tomorrow. Been finger fucking a Kimber 1911 .45ACP at my local LGS.
Does /k/ have any experience with it? How's the reliability? Accuracy? Any pro tips?
Yea, don't buy a kimber. Overpriced with poor QC
Damn near any 1911 is better, especially when comparing costs
>>29738712
Enjoy your rust and shitty MIM parts
>>29738712
Fingering a Kimber, lol
Buy it and it'll fist your asshole.
>Soviet submarine K-278 Komsomolets
>"The boat sank in 1989 and is currently resting on the floor of the Barents Sea, one mile deep, with its nuclear reactor and two nuclear warheads still on board."

Greatest deathtrap since russian submarines.
The nukes already got stolen by the way.
I have 3 ar15s. It is getting repetitive. What else should I look into? Scar seems overpriced mil-spec stuff. How about a stg-44 repro or a FAL?
semi
>>29738608
AR 10
>>29738625
same thing
and more expensive
scar 17S or an SBR AK or a lever action .45-70
/k/ Ar Pistols, meme or must own?
>>29738538
Do you like to have fun?
>>29738538
I think most people buy them with the intention of putting a stock on it but they don't want their gun to remain at the store waiting for the paperwork. But you could also build one with a hand if you felt like it.
>>29738538
Holy fuck I don't even know what a meme is anymore
Is this thread a meme? Is /k/ a meme?
...Am I meme?
I'm looking to get my Dad a 1911 for fathers day budget is around 1700. This is going to be shot and not just a safe queen. What does /k/ think ?
Talo Exclusive Colt Combat Unit
http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Pistols/Colt-Combat-Unit-Rail-Gun
>>29738535
Springfield TRP if you can find one for that price point.
Your dad is old, he'll appreciate that it's a Springfield. And the finish is beautiful. And my God the serrations will make it feel to him like this was actually made to shoot like a mofo.
Other options are the slew of really good other-ly brand 1911s such as STI and Wilson Combat, but the manufacturer names won't strike him like a Springfield or Colt will.
Other anon's suggestion of a Colt 1911 is good as well. A plain old Colt Rail Gun might be another solid option.
He's your dad. Get him a 1911 with some Manufacturer legacy. As stupid as it sounds to us, it will actually deeply matter to him. A bad ass 1911 made by a (to him) unknown manufacturer might just seem like chink shit.
>>29738759
That
Does anybody else play? I find it fascinating disassembling the guns, seeing how they work. Shotguns costing a lot of exp is annoying, though.

>>29738499
what?
What has shittier gun laws, UK or Australia?
>>29738403
Australia by far, the UK gets airsoft,semi-autos and pump shotguns. We don't
>>29738588
wait you guys can't airsoft?
and your nerf guns are heavily limited too, right?
you should just let the emus and kangaroos take over at this point.
>>29738588
Really?
Aren't those new nerf guns banned too?
/k/, you have been given a crude Oil tanker(any size) with the purpose of arming it and armoring into a makeshift warship. What do you use to armor it? what do you arm it with? What will you use it for? You can modify the structure of it any way you see fit.
>>29738401
A bomb. Masquerade it as a relief aid ship/transport/whatthefuckever. Fill it with the explodey bits of your choosing. Drive it to the blockade or port of highest significance. Boom.
>>29738434
if you can get that much high explosive, I'm impressed.
but yeah, bomb strategy for sure. preferably with a nuke.
or load it with basketball americans and unload it at a shithole of your choosing.

Arsenal ship. Satlinks, radars, and fucktons of VLS. Save a little bit of deck space to operate rotary-wing ASW drones.
