Are boats the ultimate SHTF bunkers? After all, any land-based installations can be smoked out, but boats have the entire oceans to hide in.

No you dumbass, they require tons of maintenance and resources to operate. You'd be better off with a well stocked bunker.

The Ocean is a big place, admittedly at the same time there's only a couple places to take on supplies so if a pirate is going to be anywhere it's there

What are /k/'s thoughts on making it easier for people in cities and denser suburban areas to shoot?

>imagine how much easier it would be to get people into shooting if ranges were as common as gyms
>more people innacity than innabasicallywilderness
>more poorfags than richfags
>vast untapped reservoir of potential support, shooting buddies, logistically easier group outings, rebels against tyrannical government, etc.
>if you build it, they will come
>mfw i can't shoot muh raifus without driving an hour each way (to any of several damn nice ranges, but still)
>mfw my future job opportunities will probably be in mostly urban areas as well
>expanded gun industry might make guns and muh 22lr cheaper too
>chicken and egg: anti-gun urban governments are in position to prevent construction
>laws have to change so infrastructure can change so views can change so laws can change
>physical constraints exist--need enough room, ventilation, noise, backstop, etc.
>but good gyms, e.g., have physical constraints too--need to make sure the floor can deal with having weights dropped on it, neighbors don't mind the noise, ceilings are high enough, ventilation --so the constraints aren't insurmountable in principle
>also legalized silencers will help with the noise
>mfw high schools in Sacramento and San Francisco used to have shooting ranges in the basement
>mfw it can be done
>I hear SE Florida is kind of like this but that might be a meme
>same with switzerland

tldr has anyone even been far so as decided to want go shooting ranges as common and easily available as gyms?

Short of building a new airport 4 blocks down or running rail tracks down your alley, I cannot think of a quicker way to depress housing prices than living near a gun range. Indoor would work, but good luck setting up 100y rifle ranges indoors.

Out door ranges in crowded city areas would be even more tough:

1. De-regulate suppressors
2. Prepare for the booty-blasting anger when municipalities _require_ a suppressor on any gun range within city limits.
3. Build a 10m high berm and still go out of business when Francis Schmukatelli still manages to somehow put a .30 caliber bullet over the top

/k/ is there anything wrong with Pietta Percussion cap revolvers? The fact that they're so cheap is what appeals to me but also worries me.
It won't blow up.. Right?

I don't think the reloading process would bother me too much, because The history and aesthetics just rub me the right way

Also, I don't own any other black powder weapon so what else should I get?

I haven't seen any concerns about kabooms in Pietta revolvers, but you could try checking out some of the western style shooting forums to see if they've had trouble.

The price is mainly due to rougher finishing.
>>
>>29749480
Down side is you can't convert the brass handle ones over to metallic cartridges other than .22lr.
>>
>>29749480

Funny you ask OP, I just got my 1858 pietta army two weeks ago.

So far I only got the time to shot it once, put like 30 rounds into it with no malfunction.

It was round balls (.451) with prepacked powder, some pyrodex derivative i'm guessing seeing the lack of smoke.

I'm gonna order conical and hollow points bullets, loaded with regular black powder, and see what type of homemade paper cartridges are the best for it.

Tl:Dr, Pietta is good stuff, don't buy a brass frame, go full metal, and enjoy.

So, I've decided that by the years end I'm going to buy a new rifle. I've narrowed it down to three choices. All three I equally want.

So, opinions and first hand experience with any of theses three are welcomed in helping me make my decision for setting my goal.

1.) Steyr AUG with a top rail instead of a scope

2.) Beretta ARX100

3.) CZ Bren 805 S1 carbine.

What will happens if a nation's leader knows next to nothing about warfare or Foreign Policy? Do Generals take over from there? Our president for example is the Commander and Chief of our Armed Forces. What happens if they don't really know how to properly allocate our military power based on our current foreign policy

I really like these ACE skeletonized stocks, and I want to get one for my AR15, just I want to know what I need to get.

I know that I need to get an A2 Buffer tube, but can the carbine length spring and buffer fit in the standard a2 tube?

Getting ready for a fight. If those Bay area cunts are itching for one, by God we will give them one

Hey /k/

Living in chicago, under 21, just turned 18, looking forward to getting FOID, and legally being able to purchase a gun. So I am filling out the app, going along fine, actually one of the easier governmental apps to fill out, when I hit this one section, this one fucking section. A parental fucking affadavit. Without my parents consent, I cannot get a gun license in Illinois, its impossible. And my parents are pretty fucking liberal, they would never sign the form. Whoever designed this rule deserves to be fucking fired. So /k/, one question:

wat do?

A few years ago I read a story on reddit that kind of stuck with me for some reason.

A (future redditor) submarine sailor was on his sub and for some reason (technical or human error) the sub started diving suddenly and uncontrollably. The was a guy who was supposed to do his job and respond to this event to stop the dive and level out/surface. Instead though he just crouched down and quietly panicked and wouldn't respond to anyone while the sub continued to fall. Other people had trained for his position and they stepped up and performed his duties and the incident ended there except that the panicked sailor was quietly transferred away when they got to port 2 weeks later and was never heard from again.

I always liked this story for some reason. Anyone have any more like this? Military related or otherwise.

just realized I said 'for some reason' 3 times, also I made it sounded like the panicked guy dissapeared forever when really the reddit guy just never found out what happened with him,

Such is life.

I run a grocery store for a living. We brought on another manager who was a little older and thought he was superior, knew everything, etc...

Then one day the power goes out. I know running a grocery store doesn't sound exciting but when you have 150 employees, 10s of thousands of dollars worth of refrigerated product and suddenly the whole world is looking at you, "What do we do?" "When's the power coming back on?" "OMG we're going to lose the product!?" "Give us all direction now!" and if you screw up, don't handle it right, you have a major embarrassing loss that everyone knows about.
So anyway, about 10 minutes into the power being out I see the guy with his emergency manual in his hand just walk up to me blank faced after I've been directing people already and he's just like, "What do I do?"
From then on he recognized me as the alpha.

Original hand-fitted parts together were not interchangeable. Modern production and design allowed for interchangeable parts, which was less of a bitch to handle. You didn't need to number the parts, because they were no longer unique to the weapon.
>>
>>29749052
Then why do milsurp guns sometimes have mismatching numbers?

hey guys

moving to chicago for a job, think i might need my first gun for self-defence. you know, just in case. I also am a big fan of recreational shooting, I usually go skeet shooting with my grandfather's remington from the late 1930's (one of the last models you could get in the US before the war, in great shape, my dad and I fixed it up as a father / son thing).

i was looking at either a sig sauer p220 in .45, or a p229 in 9mm.

What should a total gun noob look for in his first piece of hardware? I want a solid, reliable, high-quality piece of gear. Anyone know the differences between the Sig p22x models?

>>
Get the p229 or a p226 in 9mm you will never regret this purchase
>>
>>29748992
The only good gun Exeter makes is the 320. I'd go 226 if you can find a German one
>>
>>29748992
9mm is cheaper. Handguns are hard to git gud with, you'll need to practice a lot.

Muzzle discipline is key, religiously keeping your booger hook off the bang switch will get you killed. Your presentation of the firearm should include taking it off safe and having the distal phalange of your digitus secundus resting on the mechanism which actuates the firing sequence.

Don't start squeezing her unless you are ready to bang.
