Would the US Officer Corps be better off if you removed all avenues of entrance that don't require enlisted service?
Basically, the only way to become an officer would be OCS, Green-to-Gold, and the only applicants to West Point, Annapolis, and the Academy would be those who are already enlisted in their service. There would be no officers who were not prior-enlisted.
>>29778084
No. Being a peon is an inefficient step in learning to be a manager compared to training specifically for the management role, not to mention that the Army would lose the ability to attract a lot of their stronger talent if they had to enlist prior to the subsidized college.
To be honest they should either dismantle or totally overhaul the service academies. Their academics are a joke and like half of their purpose is as a retirement home for flag officers.

what do you mean?
IMO the PSO-1 is like the SVD, incredibly innovative and advanced upon debut, but kinda inferior now compared to more modern alternatives. I like the counter-sniper version with the built-in IR detector, it was an interesting answer to early NV systems.

This is relevant if I weren't building an SVD clone from a VEPR using a modified polymer SVD stock and forearm ;)

Okay /k/, I've been messing with a new rifle platform in my head, and it got me thinking; what features do you guys look for in rifles? I'm talking stuff like ambi safties and mag releases. Are there any features that turn you away from a rifle?
Realistically my design isn't going to go anywhere but I can dream.

If it's still black or at least yellow enough, it should work out anyways.

You should be fine as long as the rest are healthy, they will only deny your application if you are missing too many or have a lot of decay.

If you had to pick a pre AR era semi auto for SHTF what would you pick?
>>29777315
Like, give dates.
I would go with the Ak-47. It is pre AR.
If not that. The sks.

Pre 1963/select fire weapons era*
It's late on a Thursday morning, let's talk earnigga.
Do you prefer in ear, or over ear? What do you generally use?
I like peltor 3m optime101 overear, then in ear headphones for the music what makes me shoot gooder.

Reposting because worried
I have a glock, bought it because of it s reliability
I go shooting with it and I get 4-5 malfunctions.
I went again yesterday with the same results.
The malfunction is this - during the middle of a magazine, the round will only half go in. I need to drop the magazine, rack the slide to have it fall out, and then reload the round and keep shooting.
What the fuck is happening?
I haven't tried it with a different magazine yet, I'll be doing that tomorrow.
If it's no bueno, I'll be selling it, I suppose.
Real shame
>>29776884
shouldda bought a glock
oh wait...
>>29776884
Did you buy it new or used?
Could be the mag. You could also use a new recoil spring.
If it's new and doesn't have any wear that would require replacement parts, take it apart, clean it thoroughly, lubricate it sparingly, and try again with a different brand of ammo. See what happens.
If it's still a lemon after all that, THEN sell it.
Well there's a slight chance you could be limp wristing
But it could be a man or ammo issue. When it hangs up and you drop the may are you able to dry fire it?
What brand of ammo? I doubt the slide is outrunning the may spring buy it may not be cycling completely.
Whatever it is, it shouldn't be hard to resolve. I'm not a glock fan, but I would rather sort it out and keep the gun. Don't let this experience leave a bad taste in your mouth. It's a sample of one.
>he actually bothered getting a conceal carry permit
Please tell me none of you cucks actually did this. Why the fuck do you need someone else's permission to carry a gun?

I reeeally don't like running for a long time
I was looking at getting my first hammer fired SA/DA pistol. around the $500 range prefered. so far my top pick is the sig sp2022 9mm. anyone with any experience with this gun or anything in similar range?
Not at all comfortable grip angle, to be honest. Trigger's meh.
Weren't CZ75s DA/SA, get one of those, they are beasts.
>>29776368
topgunsupply occasionally gets german p226 trade ins at that price range. SP2022 is pretty good and it's underrated but keep in mind that the trigger will never be as good as a 226's and the mags cost ~$35 each.

got this gun for 425 bucks brand new when they just came out, youre being overcharged
its a good starter pistol

Is the PTR32 a good gun? It seems like a dream rifle. Takes AK mags and cheap ammo, has the awesome design of the G3/HK91. From what I've heard, the PTR91 is a solid piece of gear. So what thinks /k/? Also H&K clone general I guess.
Anyone?
>>29775778
If you like the charging handle, it's breddy gud.
>>29775778
I mean, it weights a gorillion pounds, has a 10lb gritty trigger and the aftermarket's a bitch.
If you have a hard-on for HK and want something to look cool at the range, go for it. If you want a handy/accurate modern sporting rifle, there are better choices.
