For pilots/aviators, at what rank are you finally done flying for good (assuming you command at every level)? This question is mostly for Air-Force and Navy because I know for Army it happens quite early. Like would a CAG or Carrier CO still need to do carrier quals?

Are FN49's worth the money? I'm really wanting to get one, but I always get buyers remorse after buying a gun. I want to make sure I'm making a good choice.

I'm probably going to go for an 8mm one, because I already shoot 8mm, and they seem to go for around $800.

The other alternative physically on the shelf is an Armalite AR-50A1. for about $3,600 without optics.

Some background: this will be the first fun I buy for myself (but not the first one i've played with, and not my actual first fun [gifted nugget]).

And I want to take it home to surprise dad.

Is the magazine really worth all that money? Funny thing is, after we finish trimming our forest, we will probably end up shooting durrr and turkeys with it eventually. Obviously the remnants of the turkeys will be used to stuff our pillows.

From how things are layed out, the magazine will let me get a second shot off on a durr if miss the first, since palming a second round into the AR seems like it will take forever and three hands, and i can handle the bolt action okay.

$87 for SSAA membership
$30 for two NORI shoots (under instruction)
$30 for the ammo for those two shoots
$75 for the handgun safety course
$250 for SSPC membership
$52.20 for the provisional license
$90+90 for the 6 shoots
$188 for the license
$9.20 for the permit
$250 for a safe at the minimum

So then without the handgun, you're looking at about $1200.
Once you've got the handgun included, it'll come to about $2k
