Plenty of war stories threads going around, let's hear from Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers.
Note that I was looking for Use of Force stories but if you would like to share a funny/odd call be my guest.

Fuck it, thread is going nowhere so I'll start off with a ride-along story.

>Be me
>Ride-Along with Local Police because looking into a Law Enforcement career
>Officer I'm riding with is bro-tier nice guy
>Doesn't like cutting tickets, lets several people off easy throughout the night (People I would've cited without hesitation)
>Doesn't seem like he would hurt a fly
>Our numbers come across comms for a code one dispute. (Not a huge emergency)
>Apparently a couple of neighbors were arguing because Neighbor #1's dog was barking and Neighbor #2 was trying to sleep (It was about midnight)
>Neighbor #2 goes over to confront Neighbor #1 and tell him to shut his dog up.
>Neighbor #1 answers the door with a handgun
>"Get the fuck off my property."
>Neighbor #2 goes back home, calls police, here's where we come in
>Stop about a block away from address, just down the street to wait for second car
>All domestics are a mandatory 2 car, and we're already on edge because a gun was involved
>We approach the house, figuring everything had cooled down at his point
>Apparently not
>Neighbor #1 is still angry, basically tells us to fuck off because the dog isn't barking anymore, and he didn't threaten neighbor #2 so technically he hasn't broken any law
>Bro-Cop shrugs, "okay have a nice night" and we start to leave
>Walking down the front pathway when suddenly
>BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, POP, POP
>Everyone hitting the fucking dirt
>Bro-Cop is yanking his gun and simultaniously going for his radio
>"228! SHOTS FIRED, SHOTS FIRED"
>Bright lights in the sky
>Look up
>Fucking fireworks
>Came from a block away, completely unrelated to this call, just bad timing I guess
>"Uhhh...Disregard..."
>We patrolled that neighborhood for 45 minutes looking for that dickhead that made us run like chickens
>Never found him
>>
Remember that scene from super bad where the cops arrest McLovin so he can look cool? I did that to some nerdy black kid at a house party a few weeks ago. I don't even know why this kid was there, he said something about how he was only invited because he could get alcohol. Anyway, after explaining and showing us that he wasn't fucked up like so many other guest and he was just going to go home, we offered to "escort" him out so it looked like he tried to fight two cops, then dropped him off a few blocks away. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy to see him get cheered by about 25 other people

Are the Griptilian and Mini Griptilian considered the gold standard in EDC knives? Sure you can get more expensive folders or much less expensive folders but do any match the quality?

So I had posted this on http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?506129-My-Family-s-1903-Colt-32-History&p=4357345#post4357345
(Pics at site)
I have this Colt rimless smokeless .32 that has been in my family since my dad's father got it. The thing is, it's got a pretty interesting story behind how he got it, and the details behind the pistol itself.

For starters, the story behind my grandfather's obtaining of the pistol: He worked as a regular office worker in the early 1900's and not much really would happen. One day his coworker had gotten a brand new pistol mail ordered to him. He had took the pistol into his office and closed the door to fiddle with it. As my grandfather continued to work he heard a BANG and rushed to his coworker's office to find a bullet hole in the ceiling and a near deaf and frightened employee. He went straight up to my grandfather and said "Here, you can have this! I don't want anything to do with it anymore!" And that is how our family heirloom for three generations was given to us.

Now what makes this pistol so special isn't just the fact that my grandfather got it in an accident, but that the pistol came with- and still currently has- all parts, accessories, documentation, papers, and even the box. That's not all, either. When it was passed down into my hands, I took the liberty to do as much research as I could to find what I could about the pistol. What I found was that this isn't an ordinary Colt .32 rimless, this pistol just so happens to be an original, first generation, 4-digit serial number colt with the original ornate grips and refined grips. I have yet to find any other colt .32 even remotely similar at any gun show, and only one or two at most online. I haven't even seen a first model colt .32 come through Rock Island Auction House's auctions. This was really something for me to learn, and the condition is really something to behold considering it's been around for 116 years. I always make sure now to clean it to the best of my abilities whenever I fire it and I truly am grateful to have the opportunity to have it. I currently have a nice hand made leather holster for it now.

That's pretty sweet. You can find type 1s on gunbroker (there are several up right now) but rarely in nice condition. You've still got some of dat fire blue on the trigger, looks like.

I wanted the shorter type 2 barrel when I bought mine.

Either way it's a neat little gun, with cool history in general.

I have an idea. Instead of the fiddly wires and catapults on aircraft carriers why not install one massive wind tunnel on the deck? You fly into it with some panels up on your plane and the drag slows you down. To leave you just fly the other way with the panels up to get a boost for takeoff. I don't see why this is a bad idea, you can create hurricane force winds in a wind tunnel and hurricane force winds can blow a gliding plane to a standstill.

Energy inefficient, fucks with your aerodynamics and would prevent simultaneous take-offs and landings.
>>
>>29829106
>Energy inefficient
Who cares if it werks? Plenty space for more fuel
>fucks with your aerodynamics
Planes can fly fine in a tailwind, fucking with aerodynamics is good if you are going the other way and trying to slow down.
>prevent simultaneous take-offs and landings.
Make two wind tunnels.
>>
>>29829181
>Plenty space for more fuel
No.
>fucking with aerodynamics is good if you are going the other way and trying to slow down.
No.
>Make two wind tunnels.
So quarter your flights per unit time? No.
