I've noticed something since I got more into guns over the past few years. Gun owners are stupid as fuck, but they all think they're the smartest guy in the room. It's much worse than with other hobbies and activities. Let me give an example.
>recently buy a Sig P239
>the slide catch lever is very low profile, almost impossible to manipulate
>do a Google search for "extended P239 slide release"
>get 100s of results from gun forums
>ohboy.jpg
>click a thread
>OP is asking the same thing I want to know
>first reply: "I wouldn't use the slide lock lever to release the slide"
>second reply: "in your owners manual, part number 18 is the slide lock lever...not the slide release lever..." (what a helpful fucking reply that changes the whole dynamic of the conversation, idiot!)
>third reply: "the simple solution is to release the slide by retraction the slide with your off hand."
>fourth reply: "my P239/357SIG does not release via the slide lock without a loaded mag in the grip."
>fifth reply (replying to a visibly frustrated OP): "[I'd] use the rear sight on either my holster, belt, boot heel, table edge, wall, upholstery...etc [to rack the slide in a one-handed situation]"
>sixth reply: "Most training courses I've been through always preached using the overhand method rather than trying to use the slide lock."
>sixth reply also added this absolute gem: "Sig has changed the lever's design a little over the years, is your P239 US or German?"
>P239
>German
>and that was all the replies in the thread
I could not make this shit up if I tried.
The correct reply, by the way, would have been to refer the OP to a company that will heat up your slide catch lever and re-bend it for a fee. I was just doing a quick Google search in case there were any people selling pre-bent levers out there so I don't have to have a non-functional gun for 3 weeks.
Anybody have any stories of stupid gun owners acting like geniuses in real life?
>>29837341
Most gun websites like sigtalk, arfcom, calcuck and whatever are filled with pedantic middle aged pricks that go off on long winded tangents.
The P239 is a good gun tbqh famfam
>>29837367
It's a good gun, but it's the only semi-auto I own where I can't release the slide with the slide release. That lever is so low profile as to be practically useless.
>>29837429
Is it really? I only shot a mag through some guy had at the range. It's pretty much the perfect gun for me but it's too big.
What, in your opinion, are the best kept budget secrets of the shooting world?
Everyone knows about hi points. I want something different. What hits the good/cheap/cool trifecta?
My submission is the .32 caliber handgun. I'm talking .32 S&W short H&R, old semiauto .32 acp guns like the savage 1907, vest pocket guns and the like. The ammo is expensive for the old wheel guns but for under $300 dollars you can get some pretty cool sidearms.

Thinking of picking up pic related for my first revolver. Also maybe a model-11.
>TFW played way too much RDR in highschool
>TFW 400 hours of Fallout New Vegas
>TFW no big iron on my hip.
Local gun store also has a lot of old .32's and .38 shorts, but .45 colt looks so much more fun to shoot.
>>29837195
So what's your question?
>>29837230
If it's a good buy? A good gun? Something worth getting? It's $450, used, and has a pretty OK finish to it with a little wear on the loading gate.
I'd want to know if it's going to blow up in my hand from cheapness, be horribly inaccurate, or fall to pieces in a couple years.
is there any where i can read about how big many men are in a squad platoon batalion etc also does it change with country regiment and group??

Am I the only one that would use a Milsurp for SHTF?
>Have a shit ton of ammo for my K31
>Very accurate
>Very sturdy
>Smooth action
>Won't make me a target since it looks quite simple and not "offensive" enough
>bayonet
Shit man, I wonder why I wouldn't use my K31 if SHTF.
>>29837080
I would use whatever was available to me at the given moment. Whether it be a Nugget, an AR, or a 40mm Bofors.
>>29837080
>TFW only have milsurp rifles
>Not even poorfag, just love wood and hate pistol grips
Dunno though, my pinger could work pretty good for SHTF.

I would use my mauser m48

How do you do this?

you don't, you hand it over like a normal person or end up ND'ing into someone

When open carrying a handgun without a safety, does /k/ prefer carrying with a round in the chamber, or without?
Pic related.
>>29836518
you should absolutely carry with one in the chamber

>When open carrying a handgun without a safety, does /k/ prefer carrying with a round in the chamber, or without?

>not one in the chamber
If you're not in the Israeli military, you're a fucking faggot. I'm going to assume you're the latter since you chose an XD as your picture.
Faggot.
Fuck no. Walking nd waiting to happen.
/k/, I'm looking for a relatively cheap nvg unit that actually works. Unfortunately I know literally nothing about this stuff, and need your help, please enlighten me upon this subject.

Pain in the ass people use their phones in the movie theaters and fuck up the movie. It would be nice to stop them discreetly without shouting down from all the way back or being completely autistic and shining a flashlight at them (which fucks the movie for everyone). You can also fuck someone's vision at extreme distance if necessary, even in full daylight. Powerful ones can signal aircraft for rescue. Fun to point out constellations and stuff. Variety of power levels in different lasers for your specific needs (kitty toy vs blind a guy).
>>29835922
Definately, you can keep one up your ass when not in use. You're most likely used to doing this already.

would it hurt to be hit by a buckler? would it actually make you buckle?
>>29835841
From personal experience - shields, no matter how small, make for really good bashing weapons, especially when used skillfully. Buckler would function much like a 0.5 kg brass knuckle, so I imagine that being hit in the (unarmored) head with the rim could cause a skull to crumple. So yeah, it would make one buckle.
>Would it hurt
Yeah
>>29835965
It would be extremely painful.
Hey /k/. In a few hours I'll be headed to MEPS. Besides waiting a lot and being rushed, what am I to expect?

Lel I love my lil badger. I put a foregrip and eotech on it for shits and giggles once and brought it to the range. Got some good laughs. But yea deffinitley agree they are useless.
Never heard of lights, lasers, or foregrips huh?
As far as I know there aren't any chemical weapons used like tear gas and your character gets along fine without them in the zone. Why are all the characters on the cover art wearing gas masks?
>>29835505
A shit ton of irradiated materials were ejected from the explosion at reactor 4. The mutants in the game would technically be a biohazard. And gas masks are fucking cool.
>>29835531
then why does your character never have to wear a gas mask? Those things obstruct vision and constantly having to replace filters is a burden

They were well trained and well armed, backed up by the largest Navy at the time and basically the most technologically advanced military the world knew.
They fought a bunch of guerrilla fighters and got their shit wrecked, which should sound pretty familiar to a lot of us.
