I don't understand why this gun was so popular. Nothing would ever get made like this again probably. There were tons of other options for firearms when this thing was around. What made this thing stick around that people actually wanted to keep using it?

I ask them "what law am I breaking?" then the deputy gets in my face and says "I am the law! and if you dont give the gun back youre getting arrested right here". I knew I was right but it wasn't worth the trouble of getting arrested so I gave it back and was promptly kicked out of the gun show. In the parking lot I looked up the exact statute I was referencing where only FFL licensed dealers were restricted from selling to 18-21 year olds and went back to show the ATF agent who was standing out front. He said "Ok well sometimes what is on the books and what we do in practice is a little different". I ended up getting my step father to go back and buy me the exact gun 20 minutes later so It wasnt a total loss but was it legal what they did to me? They used intimidation to get me to return a perfectly legal firearm. Also, my buddy who is 20 bought a handgun from a different private seller at the same show, so obviously these LEO's dont know jack shit. Thoughts? Could I possibly file a complaint with the Sheriff dept. or the ATF?

The brass a few years in decided that guys had to full length uniforms even though it was hot as fuck and the troops didn't like it. You bet your ass that all but the most special of focres would be in armor if they could afford it.

For that to happen, they probably would both have to be becoming independent today. That means they would have followed the trends of their parent nation, so Rhodesia would use some kind of 5.56 rifle and Angola would use a G36.

Considering the SANDF (only comparable power on the continent, except maybe Sudan; and an army with better funding and supply than either Rhodesia or Angola ever had) still dont widely issue body armor, they'd probably just use chest rigs or those assault vests they're known for.

The first two MR223 and the first MR308 which I've seen at the range all had considerable failures and the MR308 was locked up so hard it had to go to a gunsmith.

I hear the guns available now are pretty decent, but that's one hell of a first impression.

I've always had an irrational sweet spot for the Mk23 though... The only reason I don't have one is because I can't legally get suppressors, so it's kinda retarded.
I don't hate HK, they often make decent guns. But they're not super special.

I suspect that at some point I'll crack and buy an HK53 clone.

Yes in theory, but hard kill countermeasures are of limited usefulness since they pose as much risk to the users as to the projectile.

Super retarded. Anything that will stop rounds greater than pistol will weight several kilos and restrict your view, which is more a liability than a boon. Theres a reason people who use ballistic shields generally either use a pistol or nothing at all.
