How does one swim across a river carrying a rifle? I thought about tying a rope to the rifle and dragging it across after swimming to the other side, but that would probably damage the rifle as it scraped the riverbed.

the only thing that really needs to be changed on a glock is the stock sights, which are comically bad.

that said, the "glock perfection" slogan is pretty bold, but they are the best gun for reliability to cost ratio. They also have a solid combat record.

I get why .357 Magnum pistols are memes, but why aren't there any semi-auto carbines of that caliber (that i'm aware of)?
In .357 lever-gat recoil is rather gentle, in semi-auto it would be even lower.

Would they be valiable home defence carbines?
86 posts and 14 images submitted.
>>
>>29931773
People always mention flash/noise/over penetration regarding .357 as a HD/SD caliber.

Not sure about the loudness or flash from carbine esque barrel lengths myself.
>>
>>29931773
Well. To nitpick, a semi-auto would probably have more felt recoil (depending on how it operates) than a levergat by virtue of having parts moving in reaction to a round being fired.

That aside, I'd love it if there was something like a Sub2000 in .357.

Inb4 buy an AR. Yeah it'll do better and probably cost you less, but I get the feeling OP wants a semi .357 carbine because he wants a semi .357 carbine.

>>
>>29931301
Most guns have a front sight at the end of the barrel you dingus. Having to thread a half inch of barrel isn't normally an issue but when you need to have four plus fucking inches of suppressor covering the barrel, things start getting in the way.

HMS Queen Elizabeth should have been CATOBAR. She isn't.
The United kingdom has a population of 64 Million
The USA has a population of 318 Million
The US Navy has reduced their fleet from 11 to 10 super carriers and with those numbers can only have two on deployment at any time (with another one on it's way to relieve one of those two) as opposed to 3.5 with 11. This is mainly due to their nuclear reactors needing a long mid life refueling and maintenence.
By cheaping out on the CATOBAR and Nuclear power the United kingdom is able to afford not only the worlds third most powerful carrier (Nimitz and Ford being the 1st and 2nd) but two of them allowing one on deployment at all times during the ships 50 year life span.

Further more, the US not using ramps for increased efficiency of their F-35B's on their LHA's is a huge mistake and they only do it to try and protect their super carriers from budget cuts. Comments from American's regarding "lol ramp" is a sign that the propaganda got to them.

/k/ will not accept this.

It's not needed. We fight a casual and economic war now. Carriers are useless. Case in point, the Chinese islands. Carriers can't do anything about it. Would they risk MAD if they sink the islands? The islands are Chinese lands like the carriers are American land.

why is gas better than nukes

Alright, I think we all like to have a bit of fun thinking up our own militaries so here we go:

1. This is assuming you are going for world domination, and you already have most of the world under your control

2. You have $1,300 Billion USD to spend

3. The enemy you need to overthrow has $376 Billion USD (With China/Russia level equipment)

Go for it

This may be a better question for /his/ but did any footsoldier in history actually ever use a two handed sword for pitched battles? (ie not single combat) It seems like there is no advantage over a spear/shield or sword/shield, as it's much harder to defend yourself and you don't have anything to stop projectiles. Why are they a thing today?
86 posts and 22 images submitted.
>>
basically, ( to my understanding, of course) most swords in Europe were designed to be used as one hand swords, but also as two handed swords. If you really had to smack someone, use both hands.

Dedicated two handed swords however? not sure. It would be easier to cleave through armor with a massive two hand broadsword than a one handed blade tho.
>>
>>29930845
IIRC, they used them to cleave through lines of pikes and shit

I might be wrong though
>>
>>29930845
>in history actually ever use a two handed sword for pitched battles
Doppelsöldner, basically pike destroyer.
>there is no advantage over a spear/shield or sword/shield
With full armor there is little need for shield.
>Why longsword
Longer reach, but with versatility of a sword.

From what I've seen, /k/ sides with the person filming.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynARIUDll-0

The guy with the gun should never have displayed it if he didn't intend to kill, plus he would probably request a bill of sale, and he didn't immediately draw and double tap into the head

The only reason why the guy with the dog flashed his gun was because he was an irresponsible gun owner (who insists on a bill of sale, lmao fucking dumb fudd) who is insecure around public protesters.
>>
both of them are retarded.
i have and love my dogs.
walking them on grass in the sun is fine so long as you take breaks and have lots of water on hand - this is why the cameraman is wrong.

you should never, ever, ever show or draw your gun on someone unless they are a credible, real threat to your/others' safety. this is why the man being filmed is wrong.

What would happen to you if you walked into a warzone as a PMC/Merc and you came across U.S military forces or any foreign military force for that matter that you particularly side with? Or you went to some third world shit hole and instead of being a "volunteer" for their army couldn't you just jump in as a PMC/merc? Why do you need to be part of a company to operate?
