Hey there /k!
I usually stay on /pol where I belong but today I am here to ask a Question.
There have been many break in's in my neighborhood recently and I need a cheap, sturdy, and reliable gun for home defense. I am no imbecile, as I know how to shoot and that maintenance is a must. There's just so many options, can you help?
>>29991596
I'd recommend a maverick 88. Cheap, reliable and effective. Do your own research on the myriad of what shotgun loads can do and decide what's best for you
>>29991655
Seconded
>>29991596
Budget?
Skill level?
>bought a Chiappa Rhino 50DS as a range toy and HD.
>show it to my uncles
>one of them dry fires it to test the trigger pull
>the other one freaks out and start yelling how much he's destroying the gun
So I come to you guys, is it safe to dry fire a modern revolver? He said something about crystallization or something like that.
>>29991590
This thread has been done a billion times. Modern day fire arms are safe to dry fire...Just don't cowboy slam the cylinder in, that can ruin it.
I've been told you can dry fire a revolver if it doesn't have a hammer mounted pin. I do it to my 637 all the time but have snap caps to practice reloading with. Read the manual?
>>29991676
>implying that I bought it new
Is it worth it?
At $1200, it's honestly a bargain. I hope to fuck Troy starts selling the lowers they use, that faux third hole is sex.
>troy
>>29991843
>I act like people don't know how bad something they want is because I need to feel better about not being able to afford it myself
Compliment my rifle edition
>>29991386
its shit lmao
Geissele inbound. Can't wait for weekend load testing now.
>>29991436
After spending all that money on the rifle, why did you go MOE instead of CTR?
Does anyone here actually open carry around town? I get doing it while you're backpacking/hiking/camping but does anyone do it while in a densely populated area? If so what kind of reactions do you get? Just curious.
>>29991384
it can only advance the cause of gun rights, it worked for gays.
>>29991581
Is that Bob Chipmen?
How does the Air Force cope with the fact that fighter pilots won't exist in the next 30 years? It's not like they dogfight in the visible range anymore. Today the role of fighters is much better replaced by UAVs and UCAVs that take the liabilities of mortal pilots and lethal g-forces out of the equation altogether. What will Air Force recruitment propaganda of the future look like?
>>29991347
>fighter pilots won't exist in the next 30 years
Not until someone develops AI.
G's are limited not by pilots but by the airframes ability to handle them
A missile can always pull more G's than the airplane
UAV's are not autonomous, they are flown just like a plane, except remotely
Theres really no practical reason to remove the pilot, in fact there should be 2-3 people in next gen fighters
>>29991347
>How does the Air Force cope with the fact that fighter pilots won't exist in the next 30 years?
kek
I don't know, by being on good terms with the reality to know thats a load of shite?
How hard was it to be a good gunslinger?
Are revolvers still cool?
Gunslingers were pretty much a myth.
I think revolvers can be cool, anyway. Don't carry them for defense but I enjoy them

PROTIP:
fast draw stunts in cowboy movies was often done with custom metal lined leather holsters.
Actual leather tends to grip on the pistol and slow down the draw.
the fastest fast draw movie actors always had metal lining in their holster so it was metal on metal smooth and could be fast draw.
>>29991120
they all got shot in the back bruv.
What's in the sleeve, /k/?
>>29991072
Ar upper?
Is it a Buttfor?
Dragon dildos.
Was wondering if any /k/ops, other LEO, or average autist /k/ommandos can recommend a good pepper spray solution for a lady friend.
>Gel versus Spray
I've heard gels are the best, but require more precision. I am unsure if she would be able to accurately spray it in a don't-rape-me scenario. Anyone have insight into this tradeoff?
>Spray holster/case solution
I'm guessing fumbling around in a purse is a good way to get stuck by Jamal's 12 inch dong.
Are there holsters for pepper spray? Or containers that are easy to find in a purse?
Maybe I'm over thinking this. Any kind of input is appreciated from people with experience.
>inb4
What was that? Get her a gun instead? That's the end goal I guess. I've suggested it to her. I just see this as more of a stop gap measure. It's SOMETHING.
She'll just get raped by an angry rapist instead? Oh well, maybe it will make her feel safer.
>>29990993
I'll bump with some semi related stuff.
>>29990993
not a cop, dated women
I went out and tested some gel mace with my ex girlfriend in the woods once, that fucking can runs out QUICK, you better hit them. i would get a couple of larger cans, and i would have her practice with them. you don't want the time that you need it to be the first time you use it.
you don't want the spray because that shit gets all over the place. are you spraying it in a bedroom? everyone in the bedroom just got maced. it's a gas. it fills it's container.
You can carry them on your keys, if she is walking from her car to her house and she feel sketched, she can carry them on her keys
she might not be ready to take a human life, it's okay, don't push it. take her shooting with you (get something like a 9mm for her to shoot don't give her a damn .500). she might just not be there yet. it's okay. if you harass her about it she will not like it
>>29991006
/k/ related not pepper spray related
Any options I can amazon tonight would be bretty good.
What kind of optic would /k/ put on his/her sks?
>inb4 "Just leave it with irons bro"
SKSes aren't accurate enough to warrant a scope. If you need optics, you need a different rifle.
>>29991031
Yes they are. I'm not an SKS-fag. I'm just stating the facts.
>>29991031
eat a dick.
>>29990982
I'm going to get a brass stacker mount and go with some kind of long eye relief scope eventually. That's for the milsurp models, the ones norinco manufactured for the US market later have a different layout which those aren't compatible with. But I'm sure you're less worried about bubbafying something that isn't C&R.
Does anyone here carry a PPK? Is it worth it?
>>29990757
I used to carry one, but I now carry a Ruger LCP.
>>29990778
You might as well have said that you used to be cool, but then you turned into a faggot.
STRATFOR says ATF agents are: "Rednecks with a license to kill. Never ever ask for their help on anything."
>>29990756
Well, aren't they? Their track record seems to consist of burning people alive, killing more dogs than the Chinese and in general being incompetent fuckwits.
>>29990756
unless you got a dog problem
>>29990756
>>ATF plz kill my dog
Alright /k/ I have plenty of time to listen to music at work in Earbuds. Looking for any suggestions on music or much better, suggestions on/k/related podcasts.
>>29990742
I loved me some Johnny Cash. Not much feels more baller than listening to 'The Man Comes Around' while sitting in an open side helicopter and looking at the world through NODs.
>>29990760
Johnny cash is great, my favorite is "General Lee"
/k/ people I can think of:
CCR
Ozzy Ozbourne
Johnny cash
Alice in Chains
Practically anything during Vietnam and AiC
>>29990830
I like Jesus Walks for nostalgia reasons. Yes, because of that stupid movie.
I'll go first: France
Italy
>>29990734
That's a Mexican Express Card
I'm new to guns, /k/. I'll admit that right off the bat. My cousin invited me deer hunting, and I don't have a suitable deer rifle. What calibers do you guys recommend? Any good rifles that won't break the bank? I'm willing to spend around 500-600 on the rifle.
>pic completely unrelated.
Savage axis in .308
>>29990640
Savage axis in 308 with optic combo. Should be around $400-$500. If that fails the ruger american in 308 offers a similar combo for a similar standpoint.
30-06 is also acceptable but there really isnt an advantage in one way or the other.
Ask if you can shoot his, buy a good pair of boots and a pair of binos. Buy a cheap rifle in .223/5.56 with a decent scope. You'll probably have to spit the money between scope and rifle.
>Pic sort of related
