I think the Colt Woodsman and the Browning Challenger are head and shoulders above the rest. But I have never fired the Hi-Standard. Opinions are like assholes you know. The only .22 semi pistol I own.

Alright /k/, I have a question that does deserve its own thread.
What would be the ultimate survival/SHTF gun?
The way I figure it, these would be the requirements:

If you have .308, you won't be able to carry a lifetime's supply of ammo, but it's common, so you can scavenge it. With .22 ammo, you can carry a shit load, but it takes at least 3-5 rounds to actually kill a person. You can use
.22 to hunt small game, but not .308.
5.56 would probably be the best in-between round, since you can carry plenty of ammo, it's common, and it only takes 1-3 bullets to kill someone. But for people living in areas with larger animals such as bears, .308 would be better.
A good, durable run like a Mosin-Nagant that you can drag through the mud, use as a club, bash skulls with when you're out of ammo, etc is preferable. An AR-15 doesn't fit that criteria, though.
