I have $497.94 maximum to spend on a CCW and I want opinions on these possibilities that I've found on Gunbroker. If you guys have any recommendations, things you've found on Gunbroker that you think are good deals and feel like passing them on, I would very much appreciate it. I really don't know what I'm doing. I'm probably looking at choices which are too expensive for me. I want to get a good holster and some ammo, obviously.

My LGS is garbage, but the few pistols that they had and I held that I actually liked the feeling of are the following
>Glock 19
>Glock 26 (i could tolerate it, a bit fat and short)
>HK VP9 (apparently isn't that reliable)
>Sig Sauer P228 (all metal felt awesome)
>Beretta 92FS (fit like a glove)
>Walther CCP (felt fantastic and I really liked it but found out later that they apparently have issues?)
>Walther PPK (too much money and useless but it felt great)

Get something you can actually carry, a full size gun is pretty shitty if you actually want to carry daily without printing. A Shield is a great choice and is pretty affordable, it will give you room to get a holster and ammo to practice with.
Used Glock 19 (compact) 3rd gen.
>>30011654
This, get a shield.
ive tried several brands of pocket sand from my local mega lo and have not been terribly pleased with any of them.
has anyone else create their own custom mixture of pocket sand?
i have been experimenting with adding salt and finely ground red pepper flakes to my daily carry mixture
Dangit, Dale, get off the got dang Four Chin I tell ya hwat
crush a lightbulb
gather powder
keep hand out of pocket unless absolutely neccessary
Problem with pocket sand is you can't use too fine of sand. The more powdery it is, the range is reduced. Sure, powdery, fine sand looks impressive, but you don't want to rely on it.
Again, "found sand", like in playgrounds, tends to clump up in your pocket, and also may contain rocks or other debris that just makes it look like you picked some sand off the street.
The true defensive pocket sand has a mixture of both semi-fine, a little powder (for intimidation) and granules that will get into the eyes of your attacker.
Now I know there's a similar thread down below, but I've been meaning to ask as well.
I don't know which division I want to go to for Infantry. Now, I'm from Clarksville Tennessee, where Fort Campbell is. So the temptation to go 506th is strong, but I wanna get your guys's input on it. I'm curious the pros and cons of both.

You think that you have a choice lol?
Just tell the recuriter that you want to go Delta. If you don't you'll just end up some hopeless POG.

So I need you guys, the honored /k/, to help me make a decision. I've been talking to an Army recruiter for a while now and I'll soon be getting papers ready for me to sign and then I'll go to MEPS. I'll be trying to land as an 11x with Airborne. I'd love to be a paratrooper, and if I join the Army my dream would be to be part of the 82nd.
But I've always wanted to be a Marine, and even though I've been convinced to be an Army Paratrooper, I still constantly feel like I'd rather be a Marine. The title, the honor, and the general idea of being one appeals greatly to me.
My Army recruiter (biased source) tells me that I can't just decide to be an 0311, so I might get stuck being an engineer if I choose to be a Marine. I love the idea of being Marine and Paratrooper. Basically I have the appeal of possibly jumping out of planes and faster promotions, or I can achieve a lifelong dream of being a Marine.
So I'm asking you /k/ to help me make a huge decision. Do I join the US Army Infantry with Airborne, or do I become a Marine 0311 Rifleman? What do you think I should do, and what would you choose?
>>30010938
>The title, the honor
No such thing. It's a great circlejerk done by marines who think they're some sort of special bunch.
Go army, become a paratrooper and have a title that's actually worth something.
>>30010938
I have never served, but let me play Captain Obvious:
1) All recruiters are bullshit artists.
2) Not everyone who joins the Army will become Airborne. They could make you a telephone repair technician if that's what they need.
3) If you join the Marines, you will be a Marine, guaranteed. Even if *they* make you a telephone repair technician.
I counsel you to go with the sure thing.
>>30010978
>>30010988
I appreciate the advice. I agree with both of you somewhat. I know that the Marines get a lot of hype, but if you're a Marine you're a Marine, regardless of occupation. But I'd still prefer to be an 0311 if possible. I'm still torn real hard about both.

Every fucking Friday edition.
Thread for the upcoming THREE DAY MEET IN /k/ommandoville!
For those unaware, on Saturday, April 30th, 8 /k/ommandos scouted a location in Plumas County for an upcoming Fri-Sat-Sun meetup in an ABANDONED MINE and
GHOST TOWN. This scouting meet was successful, with locations for shooting, parking, and camping found. Several buildings have been determined safe for use
during the trip, including the 3-story Miners' Hotel seen in some pictures, as well as some smaller log cabins throughout the area.
Preexisting fire pits and future latrine locations have also been determined. Calls to the relevant authorities have confirmed that SHOOTING and CAMPING are ALLOWED in this location as long as shooting takes place 150 yards from the closest road or structure and you follow common sense rules.
This scouting meet did encounter trouble. We encountered several fallen trees on the road, which we will deal with via winches and chainsaws on Friday.
Mud and snow also proved to be an issue, but at the end of June this will no longer be a fear of ours. We will have the equipment to attempt to tow anybody who gets stuck
and markers will be posted along the mountain portion of the route so nobody who misses the /k/onvoy gets lost on his own. 2 wheel drive cars should easily be able to manage this dirt road, but if you don't want to get your car dusty carpool from one of the /k/onvoy points.
VIDEO FROM THE SCOUTING MEET: https://vimeo.com/165378257
>>30010536
WHAT TO BRING:
Food and water to sustain yourself for as long as you intend to stay. Food for the group also -deeply- appreciated.
Sleeping bag, pad, or cot. Tent for those who don't wish to utilize the buildings, most of which are safe. (Some are sketchy, but most are solid.)
Clothing appropriate for late-June in the northern Sierras, warm during the day and cool in the evening. Canteen and backpack suggested.
TARGETS, we're gonna need tons, and they can be made from nearly anything.
TRASH BAGS or CANS for cleanup of the above afterwards, as well as disposal of all trash we create during this meet.
FIREARMS and AMMUNITION in bulk are -definitely- requested but -NOT- required, noguns are welcome and will be given a chance to shoot.
FRS radio to communicate with the rest of the /k/onvoy on the road and just in case at the meet. Radios will be used for calling a halt if somebody needs to piss, calling out road hazards and
directions, and general chatter between vehicles. If you don't own one ask in Slack for advice on which one to get. Several /k/ommandos will have spares if you don't want to get one.
RANGE SAFETY:
During every shoot, EVERYONE is responsible for making sure everybody is behaving safely, some of us will take turns to watch out for anyone going full retard. No -really- autistic range rules here, rapid
fire is permitted and magdumps will be held. Noguns will be under the loving tutelage of experienced /k/ommandos. People who screw up will be corrected, people who screw up hard will be corrected harder.
>>30010544
THE PLAN:
On Friday, the setup day, a /k/onvoy will be assembled and proceed north to Plumas County from the assembly point in Lodi, where anons from further south will be
able to park their cars for the weekend and shift gear and bodies to vehicles going the whole way.
The carpool schedule is as follows:
The /k/onvoy assembles in Lodi, CA around 10am
The /k/onvoy makes a scheduled stop at the Burger King in Oroville for refueling and lunch
And finally, the /k/onvoy will arrive at the site mid afternoon, and proceed with all the joy and merriment and such. SEE SLACK FOR MORE INFORMATION AND EXACT LOCATION.
Once the /k/onvoy arrives at the site, we will park, unload, and set up camp equipment for the evening. A short, evening shoot will be had before dinner.
On Saturday, the shooting range opens in earnest, and a hike will be go out for anons so inclined. Meals will be cooked and eaten in camp, and we will
be packing up on Sunday.
SATURDAY CONVOY FOR WAGEKEKS:
A smaller /k/onvoy is being organized for those who aren't NEETs and work for a living. Saturday morning there will be a guide in Quincy and Taylorsville for
you to follow.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE ON EITHER DAY, SAY SO ON SLACK. TRANSPORT TEAM WILL STAND BY FOR YOU.
Also, everything is subject to change, shit happens.
Also, Mini-Meet on the 7th for bay area fags.
The V-22 Osprey has been the greatest procurement mistake of our time. It is vastly more expensive than a helicopter while being far less capable at the same time. It can't carry any serious weapons and so it is vulnerable to being shot down. The Osprey constantly breaks down and it can't even be exported to other countries because it sucks and everybody knows it. Worst of all, it is prone to crashing and killing everybody inside, which is a very negative quality for an aircraft meant to transport troops.
TLDR: The Osprey is an expensive boon-doggle that can't do anything that couldn't do anything that couldn't be done with a helicopter.
>But it has longer range than a helicopter!
FALSE. The range of the V-22 has NEVER been tested. There is absolutely not even 1 shred of proof that it has longer range than a helicopter.
>B.b.but at least it is fast, right?
WRONG. The V-22 is only faster than a helicopter when flying at high-altitude which it cannot do when carrying passengers.

Hey /k/, I'm a black 19 year old and I'll be moving San Bernardino California in a low income neighborhood soon. Since I don't have a car, I'm going to spend most of my daily commute both on the bus and on foot, so I'd prefer to have something I can always carry with me. Now, while I am a huge supporter American gun rights, I actually have never shot one in my life. So I have two questions for you guys.
Being under 21, I can't buy a handgun in a shop for obvious reasons, so I planned on maybe doing a private sale. Considering my age and ethnicity, do you think I'll have trouble finding a wiling seller? And secondly, would I give off the same impression if I were to go to a gun range and learn how to shoot? I just don't want someone to mistake me for a gangster and refuse to sell me a weapon, any ideas?
Also not baiting with the picture. I googled "black man at gun range" and it was the first one to pop up. Ironically, it was taken at a gun range in my current city, I just thought it was funny considering the context.
You should stop being poor, get a real job.

Hi /k/. First time poster here with a question. Let me give you the background. I'm moving out of my family home, I'm about to live on my own for the first time in my own apartment. Naturally, I'll be feeling on edge when I live by myself and have thought about protective measures. Problem is, I'm living in the U.K. and as the rest of the world knows, I'm living in a pussy state.
My question is concerning what kind of weapon I could own within legal limits for my own protection, should a burglar or assailant get into my house. I've made a list of what I could possibly use and here's what I'm thinking:
>Pepper spray, Baseball bat, Cricket bat, Chain lock, Golf club, Tire Iron, Hammer, Sledgehammer, Tonfa (Baton) Axe, Machete, Bill Hook, Pocket knife 3'' blade, High-powered BB gun/rifle. Bow, Crossbow.
>Augmented:
>Billiard balls w/ sock, Kitchen knife attached to pole.
I'm trying to think of other augmented weapons I could combine. Thanks in advance /k/.
>>30010197
Pepper spray is illegal to own.
>>30010211
No shit? Well that's out the window.
>>30010197
Im from the uk and some of your ideas are a bit retarded. Air rifles/pistols have a power limit and bb guns arent going to do jack shit. Pepper sprays illegal. And probably carrying any of those out the house will result in pic related.
But inside of the house all the things in the top list except pepper spray and a bb gun are fine. A golf/baseball/cricket bat and a ball shouldnt result in any "WHAT HAV U GOT THIS FOR THEN SUNNY JIM"
Also if you dont have a criminal record you should be able to get a shotgun license easily, but that depends as well on if the landlord of the apartment wants the safe bolted in to your wall
Came here looking for thoughts on this, didn't see any threads.
In any case, Shield discussion thread
Very good option for the price.

The Shield, or .45?
Why would you want less capacity and even more recoil from a tiny pistol?
Dumb shitty gun
Here's to (you)
>>30010074
I agree, I don't know why people like them so much. I hardly consider them much better than hi-points. And the price is true to that analysis. They're the same price as S&W's because the creator doesn't believe civilians should own guns, so the price gets hiked.
As a CAD/CAM Technician, I appreciate the ease of production awarded by the design.
I really, REALLY don't like the ergonomics, though.
Is the Russian Navy a paper tiger? I counted all the anti ship missiles in their cruisers and destroyers and the US has vastly more defensive missiles than Russia can dish out. I didn't count their submarine cruise missiles. Check out the math from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_Russian_Navy_ships#Ships_in_service:
>1 Kuznetsov class
12 P-700
>2 Kirov class
2x20 P-700
>3 Slava class
3x16 P-500
>9 Udaloy class
9x8 P-270
>8 Sovremennyy class
8x8 P-270
>2 Admiral Grigorovich
2x8 Klub
>13 Nanuchka
13x6 P-120
>25 Tarantul
25x16 Kh-35
Total anti ship missiles = 730
===========
Now the US side:
>62 Arleigh Burke
>96 VLS
>Assume 1/3 for anti air
62x32 RIM-66M/RIM-174
>22 Ticonderoga
>122 VLS
>Assume 1/3 for anti air
22x40 RIM-66M/RIM-174
Total anti air missiles = 2864
===========
Assuming that USA has to shoot 3 defensive missiles per offensive missile, (730x3=2190 < 2864), the American navy can withstand any Russian surface saturation attack against a carrier battle group. It is mathematically impossible for Russia to win a surface war against USA.
If you think this list is accurate, you are pretty naive
>Wikipedia
Anyone can edit that shit, you know this right?
>>30010953

I compared it to this: http://russianships.info/eng/
It's pretty close. I forgot to include the Buyan class but Russia most definitely is BTFO by USA. They just don't have enough missiles LOL.
