So I see that the main options for suppressor bodies are carbon steel, stainless steel, and titanium.
Other than weight, what are the differences between these materials on suppressors? Weight is of no importance to me; all I care about is which will reduce the most amount of noise.
Is it worth it to shell out extra shekels for certain materials?
Does the metal type of baffles reduce/increase sound as well?
chrome moly will withstand more abuse than the other 2 and i find it to have a lower tone
Things you care about for the material is primarily maximum operating temperature and wear resistance. For most purposes, erosion wear resistance can be approximated by hardness. Ideally, you want a Stellite first baffle at least, and titanium for the rest of the baffles and body. Stainless gets 'sensitized' and loses its 'stainless' property when exposed to 500C. You start to effect the properties of titanium by exposures of 1000C (ie; the fucker is glowing orange), but you start to get oxidization and alpha case formation at probably 700C. Aluminum (7000 series) goes to all shit at exposures beyond 200C.
So, pretty much: Stellite>Titanium>Stainles>>>aluminum.
If your stainless is a 400 series, it'll be much harder, but less corrosion resistant than a 300 series.
For anything other than .22lr bolt action suppressors, I have no fucking idea why they would ever remotely consider aluminum.

Hey guys. Want a bayonet for my 20" A2 style AR but don't really want to spend $60ish bucks on a real one. How much hate would I get for this?
>or does anyone know of good deals on real bayonets?
/k/'s gonna hate no matter what you do.
Have you tried your army surplus store? I can find pretty good deals there.
>>30099482
There's not one that I know of around here.
>my cetme with bayonet
>>30099454
Just get the Ontario.
It's pricey, sure, but it's better than cheaping out and having your "bayonet shaped object" break if you try and poke something with it and having to replace it.
>Buy once, cry once
Look around though, too.
It's Memorial Day weekend, someone has to have a sale going on.
Hey /k/, I'm on a tight budget and I want to buy a gun, but it's got to be at most $200. Do you guys no any websites I could get my hands on something for that price. Quality wise, it doesn't have to be amazing but it can't be shit tier.

This is the only really decent new gun anywhere near that price point. Sorry about that.
Just save up another few hundred dollars Tyrone

Is this the best $1,000 "combat" handgun on the market currently?
What are the pros? Cons?
It's taken me about six months to save the money so I don't want to end up with a piece of junk.

There's nothing wrong with desiring a handgun that'll stand up to the demands of the battlefield, even if it'll never see one.
does this guy look trustworthy?

Anyone else miss great war documentaries like this? Just the style, the footage, the narration, everything is great and not the bullshit we have today.
I'm rewatching the whole series now and man it is good.
>>30098769
There's only so much stock footage.
Books are better.
>>30098879
Books are better, yes. But not comparable. I can't put a book on in the background for some comfy listening/watching.
>>30098879
And there's actually way more stock footage than you'd think.

Hello,
The /k/ommandos have been very helpful in my journey to be a non-fag that takes responsibility for his own security. I applied for my license to carry recently. I thought it would take two months to get, but it only took 3 weeks.
My problem is I do not have a holster, clip holder, or gun belt. I have no idea how to select one. I am carrying a SA 9mm subcompact, and I would like to carry one extra magazine (somebody here recommended carrying a spare in case the one in the gun fails, and that seems like great advice).
I intend to carry inside the waistband. If it affects my options, I'm pretty fat (230 lbs, 6 ft). I am working on that, but that's where I'm at now.
>>30098233
side hip IWB works best for me. I'm about your build. I used to carry at 4-5 o'clock but my shirts get tight where when I bend over/do anything so it prints easy.
get a nice holster custom fit for your gun specifically. no "Size 4" Uncle Mikes holsters, whatsoever.
Hybrid holsters are pretty comfy but so are straight leather ones. You may need to try a couple. Crossbreed is one of my favorite, but Garrity's Gunleather, Bianchi, and many, many other brands work good as well.
A gun belt isn't 100% required as much as a nice comfy holster, but, over time, I would get one that doubles as a dress belt. Make sure to get a size or two too big with the belt. you'll need extra room with the gun.
read a lot of forum posts and try to visit some gunstores and see what options they have in store you can mess with. But the holster game is an expensive one. You'll likely have 2-3 50-100$ holsters at the end of it all, and you'll settle on one. Try to sell the others online. I think there's a holster equipment exchange out there somewhere, specifically for this purpose.
>>30098233
Sharing you pants with a gun is a very personal thing, what works for the loudest voices may not work for you. Spend about 1/5 of the price of your gun on a good holster, and expect to try different good holsters until you find one that works for you.
>>30098233
Be prepared to buy multiple holsters before you find your favorite. Like the other anon said, its a very personal thing. I carried on a ayylmao gear hholster for about a year and decided it wasn't really my thing. I switched over to a Tulster index holster and I love it. Try a few ddifferent styles and see what you like. Don't go cheap on your gear. Anything that isn't specifically made for your gun will likely be shit. You're going to gate carrying fir a few months, but after that you'll feel naked without it. Also, I'd definitely feel a good gun belt. Regular belts just aren't firm enough imo.
I'm 30 today!!! Didn't get to go shooting, but I have plans to shoot a car with APIT from the Barrett.

Good, some of them desperately need it and it's not like we don't have more.
Anybody else hold mock birthdays for the people they killed on duty/deployment?
After a while I figured it would be nice to do something for them since noone else would after long enough.
