I went to a wedding last weekend. The pastor was the same one who married my wife and I 3 years ago. He reminded me of something I once said to him:

"If you can name every gun you own, off the top of your head, you don't have enough."

With that in mind, family photo time.

While I technically have 4 AR15s, one is a iron sight M4 config, once is an M!6A3 with an 4x32 ACOG, one is a M4 style with a flattop and reflex sight, and one is just a lower with a single shot .338 LM upper. The other one is a LR308 with a 20" bull barrel.

Similar systems, but not one is the same.

They realized locking mags and built-in optics were a meme.
Otherwise pretty cool if you overlook the part when Ursula was getting uppity.

Useless carry handle makes it fatter than it needs to be.

Fat, special snowflake magazines.

Your sole choice of optic is a dated POS.

>Unpopular opinions about Women in LE/Military
>(Part 1 of 2)
I honestly think women in law enforcement or military roles are in the same exact situation blacks were in before Truman desegregated the Armed Forces via E.O. 9981 in 1948.

In WW2 and even before, we used blacks and minorities mostly in supply/logistics, and combat arms support roles.
>The military establishment supported this via bullshit studies saying black were colorblind at night, or that they were more susceptible to fear so they wouldn't be able to hold bearing during combat, etc.
>However, we all know that this^ was bullshit, especially since limited front line units that saw action during WW2 and wars before performed similarly to the whites (Tuskegee airmen, 92nd infantry div., Buffalo Soldiers 10th Cav., 54th Mass. Infantry, etc.)

I will admit that in the 50's, we went through some major growing pains with integration. Many highly skilled officers and NCO's were against this so either they got out or were defiant, which means the military had to wait 10-15yrs for them to be phased out.

But by the time the Vietnam started up (17yrs later), literally nobody really cared about blacks or minorities being in the same unit so as long as they meet the standards and performed their duties as expected.

If you compare this to today, it's almost identical with various "Studies" that may or may not be fair saying that Combat units who have integrated women into their units, who have indeed passed the training standards are considered inferior to all male units which honestly is to be expected as the integrated unit of course has a lower percentage of actual experience due to new females bringing down the average versus all male units who have higher percentage of combat experience since we've been at war for the past 10 years.

>(Part 2 of 2)
This would be happen regardless of gender as every military minded person knows a units success is determined by...
>Training (Knowledge/Skills)
>Assets (Weapons)
>Experience (combat and years of training)
If the first two are equal, which they would be in any study US armed forces conducted, then of course the unit with higher percentage of collective experience will perform superior until such time that women acquire years of training and combat experience to restore the average.

Lastly, I'm not saying that women should be perfectly 50% representation in the Armed Forces, that's silly especially since quota systems are dangerous as all hell. We really should disregard percentage representation, even if you look at Armed Forces ethnic demographics, they are still hella skewed compared to US Citizens demographics.
>Ethnic minorities of any kind really aren't Officers
>Blacks make up nearly 30% of the Army despite being ~14% of the US
>Asians don't serve
>Why the hell does the USMC look like a Latin American country's Marine force?

However, women should have a right to serve and try for any role, including combat roles, same as men with equal and fair standards that men must meet for that role, doesn't matter if its 1% or 25% representation. People should be glad that any amount of women volunteer to serve.
>>
Not all men meet the requirement to be cops (civilian)
Even fewer women can meet the requirements

Less than half of men can meet the requirements to be rear-line military
Even fewer women can meet the requirements

very few men can meet the requirements to be combat infantry
Even fewer women can meet the requirements

Almost no men can meet the requirements to be SOF/Delta/MARSOC/SEALS
There may be NO women who can meet these standards.

I'm fine with women serving if they face exactly the same standards, including mental/emotional stresses. Otherwise GTFO.

Two Ukrainian truck drivers just broke into my dorm and I've decided I need something for personal defense.

Firstly I need something for in my room, something for in my backpack and something for all time carry.

I was thinking a baseball bat for my room, a foldable baton for my backpack and a knife or pepper spray on-person carry.

Please commend and/or recommend.

Guns are reaching a point of complexity at which it would be easier to have some of their components be electronic or motorized.

Thoughts /k/?
27 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>30240443
No. Completely fucking retarded. Besides making maintenance a complete shitshow, the electronics would inevitably get fucked up by the continuous explosions.
>>
>>30240443
Modern guns are hilariously simple. When you have over 100 years to perfect a design, you loose pretty much all the excess fat.

There are some components that could be enhanced by electrical components. Electric triggers are a fairly proven concept, and electrically cycled guns have been around for a long time, but they are pretty much only used as vehicle mounted weapons. Adding electrical components to a firearm would only complicate them, not make them simpler.
>>
Sure.

There are already bullets that steer themselves in flight, you just need to paint an IR target on the target with the rifle/a spotter scope and hope nobody has anything that can follow that IR beam home.

Motorized guns are called miniguns.

You could maybe make a case for a battery powered winder for a giant magazine that keeps pressure on the cartridge to go in the chamber at optimal levels to reduce misfeeds.

Sights have already been made electronic, too. It's very expensive, but you can get a rifle that calculates windage and drop and the like for you. Or, more simply, all of your red dot/laser dot stuff that's a tiny laser pointer on a glass window in place of traditional irons are making sights electronic.

Metal Storm is a good example of a gun that has an electric ignition system, and today's 20mm rounds have an electric ignition system rather than pin and primer.

Anybody that wants to complain about explosions and hard wear fucking up electronics should look at the long history the automotive industry has in lacing engines with sensors and switches, and the ignition system of cars in general. Electronics can be made to work in extreme environments, they just can't be too complex.

Lots of AR talk but never a mention of the hk416 or the civ version the mr556a1. The hk416 was the last rifle I was issued on my final deployment to Afghanistan and I thought it was the most amazing semi auto rifle I ever used. I was wonder what /k/'s thought on the the civ version is. Pic related.

All you're going to hear is that a piston shouldn't be in an AR because it makes problems where there wasn't before and that it costs too much.
>>
>>30239969
OP here. I see people spending thousands of dollars on their custom ARs and I figure why not just get a stock mr556a1. The piston IMO is awesome. Shoot 1000 rounds clean the bolt with a tissue.
>>
>>30239922
It's a H&K so it's good quality.

The short-stroke piston is a gimmick based on the "Shits Where It Eats" meymey, it works, but it really doesn't offer you any distinct advantage over regular Stoner "gas-expansion", regardless of what H&K's marketing claims.
If they had made it with a conventional Stoner gas system, it would have been just as good, while being cheaper and a little bit lighter.

The "piston ARs are unreliable" meme mainly comes from conversion kits, trying to turn a regular AR into a piston gun is never a good idea, if you must have a piston AR, don't half-ass it, get a H&K or Ruger.

Just know that this is not something which makes your AR better. Suppressor use is arguably a little more pleasant, and it handles heat a little better, but it's offset by a little less potential accuracy and a little bit more recoil.

If I was gifted one for free, I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one.

What the fuck. This statue is a deliberate slap in the face to America and one of our most cherished cultural values.

1) why did they do this 2) why do we let them get away with it 3) why hasn't this piece of shit been torn down and melted into bullets for a charity shoot already?

Maybe it's a tribute to those old ass Looney toons cartoons. Also that revolver has a long ass barrel, so it must be a cartoon gun.
>>
>>30239864
Because the UN supposedly works towards peace and apparently the only thing a firearm represents to them is war and death.
I'd have put something different, like a giant globe or a fuckhuge sword or something.
>>
>>30239864
If they were going for an anti war message maybe they should have used a gun that's been used in war?

I mean that's the point of the sword/plowshare statue.

This style of revolver has always been a solidly civilian use weapon.
