In a completely SHTF dark ages sent back 1000 years scenario. Will we re-discover guns/gunsmith? Or for that matter black powder?

What happens when the last round is wasted. Will we re-discover how to mold and craft .22 all the way to .50 CAL?

Will our re-discovery look exactly the same as the old guard? Or will it be new designs?

Are we going to revert to swords for a time being and our grand children use our old AKs ARS and shotguns as blunt weapons?

>Will our re-discovery look exactly the same as the old guard? Or will it be new designs?

Probably so, there will be relics and obviously books that survive. Craftsmen of that time will base their designs on the rusting relics and books they read.

Not really /k/ related specifically, but I always like to listen to Dan Carlin's Hardcore history and Mike Duncan's History of Rome and Revolutions. Carlin is better as a storyteller than as a historian, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm not familiar with Mike Duncan but I'm a big fan of Carlin's. If you haven't already checked it out, Daniele Bolellis History on Fire is really good too.

so. I'm looking at getting a PTR91 and I'm at a toss up. should I stick with the Solid stock or switch to a surplus collapsible one?

>>
>>30334304
Both are nice.
I just bought a PTR-91 hasn't arrived yet.

Personally I'd get a fixed stock for slightly better ergonomics plus it can hold the receiver pins.
I put a folding tanker stock on my AK and a different muzzle break. It's pretty pleasant to shoot.

Get both.

The collapsible stocks are retarded expensive and provide virtually no cheek weld. Stick with the fixed stock.

Lets have a thread where we talk about life in the not so great states.
I'll start with a question or two:
So I'm moving from NJ to MA. Not much of an upgrade, but what are the firearms laws in reality compared to what's in the books?
How much of a pain is it getting a basic FID?
After said FID, what does it take getting a firearm?
Is a CCW obtainable?

Personally I don't think Georgia is shitty, but god damn there no one in this fucking state, everything is at least 20 miles away, and it's like 80% humidity all the time. The gun laws are great but man it gets lonely sometimes.

Flat angled receiver back means Mossberg.
Aluminum triggergroup prolly means 590.
Longass barrel and fudd grip means it was a hunting model.

Go read the fuckin barrel you retard. I can see the stamping right there in the picture.

http://www.militarytimes.com/story/military/careers/2016/06/19/military-lateral-entry-force-of-the-future-ash-carter/85884998/

>Defense Secretary Ash Carter wants to open the door for more “lateral entry” into the military's upper ranks, clearing the way for lifelong civilians with vital skills and strong résumés to enter the officer corps as high as the O-6 paygrade.

>At the same time, it suggests eroding the military’s tradition of growing its own leaders and cultivating a force with a distinct culture and tight social fabric, which many believe to be the heart of military effectiveness. Critics worry it will create a new subcaste of military service members who are fundamentally disconnected from the traditional career force.

How does it feel knowing that soon your circlejerk military life is going to be overran with people who are smarter than you?

I don't see why this even needs to happen. We already fill in officer positions with civilians, they just get a GL rank equal to the military rank the position requires. Only difference is their not required to meet military requirements like pt

You would have to have a bachelors degree to become an officer, where as if this scenario played out, anyone with useful skills could become an officer.

Hey buddy, i'm some dumb fuck who knows fuck all about guns compared to you fags.
Soooooooo...
The Orlando shooter had an MXC Carbine and i don't believe it was even modded for full auto, he hit a lot of people. People forget he also used bombs though.
Anyway, what do you think could even be done?
The only thing I can figure is take those types of rifles out of circulation and shooters are more or less stuck with pistols, shotguns and older rifles.

I mean, the MXC was clearly designed for military shit. Do citizens really need access to this?
Do citizens really think if there's a revolution that:
A. The soldiers would listen
And B. That they could take down the military with their dinky arms?

Im not trying to stir shit up, I just want to hear what you guys think. I like getting both sides of everything and the news never shines a good light on pro gun people, even when they do, they never bring up good arguments.

95%+ of mass shootings happen within gun-free zones and rifles are used for less than 5% of homicides. Ban gun-free zones, repeal the NFA, Gun Control Act, and Hughes Amendment, and let the citizenry take care of itself.

Hey, /k/, I'm looking for revolvers for a first hand gun (own about 12 rifles already) and I'm not sure which models would be relatively cheap. I love the look of Ruger's GP100 series but they seem kind of expensive. I've already decided I want one chambered in .357 Magnum, with a barrel at least 4.2", preferably 5". Any suggestions? Also looking to spend around the $400 range.

No money wasted with a GP100. They are built like tanks and will stand a diet of extremely hot loads for the rest of its life.
Don't cheap out anon.
Get either a S&W or a Ruger.

This. Modern Colt sucks at nearly everything they do, and everything else is a ripoff of a Colt or S&W design anyways. The GP100 is a good, solid, reliable gun.
