As I understand, the longer the barrel, the higher the velocity of the bullet (to a certain extent ofc, I understand there's a point where additional barrel length doesn't improve velocity), so what is the shortest barrel length I should conceal carry for a 9mm semiauto? Or is the drop in fps negligible?

>>
>I'm shooting someone with supersonic expanding lead projectiles
>not a nerf dart

Jesus Christ op how autistic are you? Its a fucking gun. If the barrel is longer than like a quarter inch I'm sure it'll work just fucking fine.
>>
>>30342811
for a pistol it doesnt matter
your ballistics are going to be shit and your force transferred to target will be ass unless you get a large cal pistol which is hard to conceal.

what you're talking about is basically a nonissue in anything but rifles, and only has a real difference in the 16-24 inch range
>>
Concealability is all about the grip. So long as the barrel isn't jabbing you it's not a big deal.

What're some /k/ approved Youtubers?

Personally, I like Duelist1954 a lot. His videos are fun to watch, they're informative and he doesn't spend 20 minutes telling us unnecessary information. He tells us the important parts and shoots it a couple times. He shoots a lot of interesting guns aswell.

Just getting some of the obvious ones out of the way:
Forgotten Weapons (really the best channel for firearms)
Hickock45 (his newer videos are shitty though)
>>
>>30342745

Hickok if you want to just kick back and listen to him talk for a while, rambles a lot but is informative.

MAC if you want to watch largely boring videos and him fanboy and shill over his favorite brands (ZQI, IWI). Still has some cool videos but seems like a cunt as a person.

AKOU if you want broken english and retarded AK fanboyism. He does cool torture tests but sometimes I think he's a bit too hard on the guns he tests, having some unrealistic expectations. That said he brought the arsenal paint issue to life and showed how damn tough a WASR is so that was cool. He still shills the products he sells in his videos a lot.

Demo Ranch if you want goofy videos that always seem to end with shooting shit with a .50 BMG. Also seems to get cool gucci relatively unique guns every now and then. Probably the most entertaining but least informative channel.

Forgotten weapons for 30 minute videos on the entire history of a gun. Digs up some really cool stuff, probably the most informative gun channel. Seems to have an agenda of promoting everything NATO/wehraboo and shitting on anything slav whenever possible.

TFB TV...

>hey guys look at all the money and guns my dad has

pretty fucking useless channel, complains about shit all the time, does his mostly useless run and guns, basically the click bait version of a gun channel.

nutnfancy for two part 60 minutes each about the pros and cons of duracoating your razor scooter. weapons grade autism. there is good info to be gleaned from his videos but you have to sift through him rambling on and on about his entire personal relationship with a gun or whatever other garbage he feels like talking about that day.
>>
>>30342803

cont.

tnoutdoors9 for awesome scientific tests of ammunition, very informative, raw data.

colion noir for well articulated although very emotionally charged (especially as of late) discourse on gun rights, with some reviews of gucci guns peppered in there along with METAPHORS METAPHORS METAPHORS

Polenar - slav squatting the channel. also doesnt seem to make any videos anymore.

top gun tori - asian/white waifu posts videos of her shooting way better than anyone here ever will

I'm about to buy a glawk.

I've shot gen 3 couple of times, seems to be okay. Every owner of gen 3 i've met says gen 4 sucks while they do no got into details.

Why, what's wrong with gen 4 of glocks?
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>30342669

When the gen4's first came out they had some brass to face problems which were fixed with a slightly different extractor. Allegedly some people had jamming problems with early gen4's as well.

diehard gen3 fans will say the trigger in gen4 sucks and that the double spring system is unnecessary. The double spring is totally unnecessary but I feel it does lessen felt recoil.

Basically comes down to what grip texture and what trigger you like better, I personally think the gen4 trigger is crisper. I've had 4 gen4 glocks, none have had any issues.
>>
>>30342751

Gen 4 is also a lil thinner in the handle. I myself have small hands, the g3s feels to big, while g4s fit perfect.

What's up /k/, if you had to choose between a Daewoo K1A1 or an F2000 which one would you get?

I live in South Africa and have a chance to get one or the other, right now all I have is a cheap Llama 1911.

Pic unrelated.

>>
>>30342544
Fishgun / F2000 no question. They're going to be incredibly collectable since the production run stopped and are really unique.

K1A1 is what I'm expecting most to say as they have great aftermarket support here in the US.

Hi /k/, I want to know about medieval warfare and logistics. how fortifications and outposts were distributed on an area with ongoing conflicts?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I only know a little bit about 17th century warfare, so that is all I can tell you:

Carts.
You had a shitton of auxillaries (usually ethnic minorities and criminals and whatnot) who were pushing carts just behind the regular military.

It's not uncommon that when entire armies got ambushed, the logistics would get lost or cut off or whatever and that armies were withouth suplies.
>>
>>30342444
It varies based on place and time period, medieval can go from wood forts to massive stone fortifications. Give a place and smaller time period since different places used different tactics and fortifications.
>>
>>30342449
That's interesting.
>>30342456
Guess i should check the singular history of every territory I'm interested in then.
but how worked the command chain? Was every Group of personnel fundamentally independant from the others?

clark county just adopted microstamping for their new safe handgun roster
36 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>30342384

Every gun I've ever purchased has been test fired and a cartridge held by the state police.

I really don't see much of a difference, except for microstamping is more expensive.
>>
No one is goin to adhere to that bullshit yo.

>>30342384
>Clark county has banned new handguns

Fixed that for you.

Enjoy skyrocketing pistol prices and not being able to buy anything but a single, state-approved color.

Why don't modern LMGs have a barrel change system that would allow for a lighter barrel for firing on the move, and then a heavy barrel for prolonged engagements where overheating/long range accuracy is an issue?
41 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>30342342
I will confess I have wondered this too. I would further add it would make sense to add large cooling fins to a heavy barrel.
>>
>>30342342
Unnecessarily logistic complication
>>
>>30342361
Don't most LMG Gunners/LMG Gunner Assistants carry an extra barrel or two around at all times anyway?

I hear a lot of hate for BF1, with most complaints being that the gameplay will be BF4 with a WW1 skin complete with faux assault rifles. How justified is this complaint? What are some arguments in its favor and against it?

I would think it'd mostly be bolt actions with vehicle mounted and maybe some basic shit, but definitely not a proliferation of automatic weapons.

To my understanding they're going to use both real and prototype weapons from the war (hence all the semi autos). I think it'll be great for what it is
>>
>>30342266
>>30342273

So, wait, it's the same shit as always? I was hoping they'd make it a much slower type of game where cover is of absolute importance and every shot counts rather than sprinting and rooty-tootin' your way around the Battlefield(TM).

So if missiles are the way to go and guns and large cruisers are on their way out in naval surface warfare, why concentrate the missiles on a relatively small number of ships?

Let's take a modern carrier strike group, which would be a Nimitz class carrier, a Ticonderoga cruiser, two or three Arleigh Burke destroyers, an attack sub or two, and a supply tender. Lots of force projection here but concentrated on two or three ships - the loss of the cruiser would cripple the group's ability to intercept additional incoming missiles, and the loss of either destroyer makes the carrier vulnerable to submarines.

Why not form the group around guided missile PT boats? Maintain the carrier as the centerpiece of the group, but replace the Ticonderoga with a supply tender and fifteen guided missile fast attack boats (to match displacement), and switch one of the destroyers for more guided missile boats. Put a ASW helicopter on each boat, so the group now looks like a carrier, destroyer, two attack subs, two or three tenders, and fifteen guided missile corvettes. Same displacement, more firepower, more maneuverability and flexibility, less vulnerability to a single critical hit on any given ship.

obviously the newer boats would have to be a little longer than the old ones

also as long as they had a tender they'd be fine in the open ocean

I live 200 miles away from the nearest ocean,

thankfully the bore and chamber look okay

but there are specks on much of the exposed exterior, like the barrel, the barrel nut, the trigger guard, etc.

Just how effective were the famous British Commandos of WW2?
47 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>

>>
>>30341545
They sucked balls. They were a snowflake unit who people only thing are cool because of their meme knives and berets. If you want to see a real special forces group look at the US Rangers, they slaughtered in Italy and went up a cliff face on D-Day.

All in all, a failed experiment that the USA adapted into the successful Ranger program.
