What is the largest caliber round you would trust firing in a handgun (even if that handgun doesn't exist)?
What is the largest caliber bullet you would buy, assuming you have a gun to fire it? (price:enjoyment ratio I guess)

>What is the largest caliber bullet you would buy, assuming you have a gun to fire it? (price:enjoyment ratio I guess)
Assuming I already have the gun? The biggest round I could. What kind of question is that?
if this is going where I think it is, at least 500 pound JDAM kit GP bombs to kill Shai Hulud.
Seriously- my advice is to find the largest caliber you are comfortable with using AND have the money to train with regularly. A .45 acp will be less effective if you rarely train with it than a 9mm you do.
I don't ever see myself wanting/buying anything bigger than a fifty.

Would Gallium/Mercury tipped bullets be useful against aircraft frames that predominantly use aluminium alloy?
A couple of hits across the body and it should be unairworthy after a couple of days and start falling apart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veKr6NRRXOY
It might not be useful as an Air to Air weapon for obvious reasons but what about in the belts of an AA gun, or maybe even used as shrapnel in a Missile?
>>30466090
Current AA missiles work fine. They kill their targets immediately.
>should be unairworthy after a couple of days
>a couple of days
lol
>>30466090
so let me get this straight
you want to fly a plane extremely close to another plane so that you can shoot it with some special bullets that might cause the plane to suffer some damage several days later, but only if it's made of a certain kind of material?
just shoot a missile at it. the missile will blow up the plane when it hits the plane, and you don't have to fool around with flying close or having special bullets or waiting around for it to take effect. you just fire the missile, and a few seconds later, the plane is dead.
>>30466118
>>30466137
>HUUUH IT HAS TO HAVE IMMEDIATE EFFECT
>JUST USE A MISSILE
you guys are retarded
Spamming missile boats is shit because they can't carry sensors, but what if they were remotely guided by a sensor ship?
>>30465772
Nothing new just copying what Russia and China already has.
>>30465772
I'm sure missile boats will be just one place where drone swarm technology gets applied, but look for some interest/advances to be made in drone swarm jamming or hacking.

I've been watching the Somme commemoration, and I was wondering what sort of guns these would be.
Are they a standard British weapon?
>>30464281
Yes.

That's a FN SC180 in 6.5 x 45 mm, standard issue for Prince of Wales' Own Culveriniers Regiment and other highly ceremonial units.

Who else is starting to sell their guns due to the vote that will come later this month?
I've already started to put my semi autos on auction platforms to see if I can get some money before they are taken away.
Aren't you guys worried?
You mean the semi auto rifle ban? I thought it wasn't going to happen.
>>30463994
It passed the EU commission and now will go to the EU parliament for a vote.
If it passes the parliament we can kiss our semi autos goodbye and all Other guns as well since they will make it so hard to get guns that it's might as well be a gun ban.

>A patrol boat was undergoing a drill inspection when the Hsiung Feng III missile was set off, Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reported.
Impressive
The Republic of China truly shows that they are the overlord of the Asian Region. Firing a supersonic Harpoon class missile shows they have the technology to lead Asia into the decades to come. Americans must be sweating hard and praising Allah that there was no carrier accidentally hit in the region.

>Until 1947, the Air Force was part of the U.S. Army. Of course, even then, the Navy had its own airplanes launching from aircraft carriers, protecting the fleets and attacking the enemy directly.
>Nowadays, the Army has helicopters and transport planes. The Marines have their own fighter jets. Naval aviators are as renowned as their Air Force colleagues and fly missions against ground-based targets.
>This week on War College we talk with a man who believes the Air Force should be disbanded. That having it separate from the Army does little beyond creating a bureaucracy. In fact, he argues, a separate Air Force has changed the nature of warfare and not in a good way. If all you have is a hammer, he says, all problems become nails.
Short podcast arguing not for the removal of aircraft but the elimination of the Air Force as a separate entity.
>>30462974
No, we should keep our AF.
But as a former Marine that sees daily "let's get rid of Marines" threads, go ahead and troll them to your best ability.
>Grabs popcorn.
>>30462974
But the airforce does most of the killing in war
>>30463043
His argument is that because aircraft have evolved to be a component of essentially every form of conflict, having them as separate entity just creates pointless bureaucracy, especially considering the other branches already have an 'air force' of their own.
The analogy he uses is that it wouldn't be logical to have a separate branch of the military from the Army that was in control of armored vehicles because they are used in every type of conflict.
