So the ammo situation with 5.45x39 seems to look pretty grim right now as far as brass cartridges go.

It seems commercially made 5.45 is made only in steel casing right now and the market doesn't seem to be wanting for brass (or so I've read).

And because scumbag ATF banned imports of 5.45 7n6, I guess the only way to some is to buy it from already existing stocks from before the ban, which really sucks as that's a very small market.

So I guess I don't really know all the details, but what is the distinction between 7n6 Russian surplus as opposed to others(?) I guess.

I'd love to get my hands on the brass because I actually enjoy reloading my rounds.
>>
>>30490586

Alot of people emailed and bugged a few brass manufacturers (also overseas so if imports shut off no more brass either) privi partizan replied and straight up said demand is no where close to enough, i forget the name of the other manufacturer but I know they only produced brass cases not loaded ammo.

Highlights of Previous Threads

>William S. Lind (born July 9, 1947) is an American monarchist, paleoconservative, columnist, Christian, and a light rail enthusiast.
>light rail enthusiast

Preface
>the state upheld its unpleasant responsibility of setting torch to faggots, was what marked this as an act of Recovery

Chapter 5
>The scum depended on them; no lawyers, no scum (a point we have enshrined in Victorian law, where you must represent yourself in court).

> Boyd was the greatest American military theorist of the 20th century

Chapter 8
>“And in the Marine tradition, I propose a toast, gentlemen,” I concluded. “To the Christian Marine Corps, and confusion to our enemies.” Appropriately, it was drunk in Sam Adams beer.

Sam Adams is owned by some German company. It's where the "take a sip whenever the protagonist says some German" drinking game comes from.

Chapter 10
>Fedora Man
>Who, I would like to point out to those who didn't read Chapter 10, actually wears a fedora and LARP's some idealized version of the late 1940s with his family.

Chapter 12
>“Because Don and the rest of the gays have me by the balls, that’s why,” Hokem said. “Well, not that way, but you know what I mean.”

Chapter 13
>I don't necessarily disagree with Lind, but when he puts it this way it's pretty autistic
>\thread t b h

Chapter 14
> No white male would agree to serve on a jury, which would mean the jury could not look like America. Under the new law, that would appear to mean no jury.

Chapter 16
>By the third decade of the 21st century, the dissolution of the United States had reached the point where each year brought a new crisis. The crisis of 2023 began with the Persell Amendment to the Clean Air Act, a measure intended to prevent the smoking of tobacco.

>Bill Kraft had the answer – a perfect Retroculture answer. “There won’t be any electronic records,” he said. “Remember, we had banks long before we had computers. We just go back to [banking] manually, with passbooks and account ledgers and the like.

Chapter 19
>none of us could afford to build such a vast engineering work. But private industry could... signed an agreement with the Great Wall Construction and Power Company, a Chinese consortium.

>"Remember the Sukhomlinov Effect: the army with the best looking uniforms always loses.”

Chapter 21
>“T-34s are exactly the right tanks for us,” I replied. “They are crude, simple, and reliable. They always start and they always run. If they do break, any machine shop can fix ’em. We don’t want tanks to fight other tanks. That’s what anti-tank weapons are for. The best way to stop an M-1 is with a mine that blows a tread off. We want tanks for real armored warfare, which means to get deep in the enemy’s rear and overrun his soft stuff, his artillery and logistics trains and headquarters, so his whole force panics and comes apart.”

>This becomes more obvious later, but Lind is basically in denial about Desert Storm, since it takes a giant shit all over his ideas.

Chapter 22
>On the 23rd, an Aztec high priest cut the beating heart from Mr. Ambassador Zimmerman and offered it to the Hummingbird Wizard atop the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan.

>“Black people have been the only warriors in history. White men can’t fight. It’s because their noses are too small. Courage comes from the nose, not the heart, as the African spiritual healers you call witch doctors have long understood. That’s why black people eat their snot. What do you white folk do with your snot? You wrap it up in a little white surrender flag and put it in your pocket. So you don’t have no courage.”

Chapter 23
>felt like a broken-glass suppository wrapped in sandpaper
>What an apt way to describe this entire "book"
>>
>When I stuck my head into Ross’s CP, which was a single command version of the LAV, I was almost impaled by a German spiked helmet coming out. Below the helmet was a vast, rotund figure that could only be Bill Kraft [Fedora Man], clad in the dark blue uniform of a 19th century Prussian officer. Down the trouser legs ran the wine-red stripe of an officer of the Prussian General Staff. I must have done a double-take, because Kraft looked at me and said, “Don’t you remember why I turned down your kind offer to join the Christian Marine Corps?”

Chapter 24

>I pointed to the shortest member of the group. “Rack him.” I ordered... Our rack operators were members of the Society for Constructive Anachronism, who had never had anything more lively than department store manikins to experiment on.

I have a small group of friends, all of which are gun owners and have a small food/water stockpile. I own a small cabin and some land and we will head there. We will all die before we get there because we live in a city. Up the Maples Edition

> What's this thread about?
As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics.

The LAV III is a derivative of the Swiss MOWAG (now a subsidiary of GDELS) Piranha IIIH, yet it deserves examination within the context of its unique and indispensable role within the Canadian Army itself, and its influence in neighbouring America’s Stryker. Canada’s involvement with the LAV III stems from July 1991, when the military had identified an urgent need for replacements for 1960s-70s era AFVs. $2.8 billion was allocated for the Multi-Role Combat Vehicle (MRCV) by the Conservatives, with the express goal of creating a common family to replace the Grizzly, Bison, Lynx and M113 variants in service. Due to budgetary constraints, however, it was cancelled by March 1992. With the return of the Liberals in 1994, however, a new Light Armoured Vehicle programme was undertaken, spurred by both Army requests and concerning reports of underwhelming Canadian AFV performance during UNPROFOR in the Yugoslav Wars. On August 16, 1995, General Motors Diesel Division was awarded the contract to produce the new LAV III, a combination of the Coyote’s turret and weaponry, along with the latest developments in the Piranha family. The vehicle itself carries seven passengers and three crew, propelled by a Detroit Diesel six cylinder diesel engine and its main armament consisted of a TIS enabled Bushmaster 25 mm and a 7.62 mm coaxial. In operation, there are typically two “air sentries”, standing on the benches to look out the back deck for security. There are currently 651 in Canadian service, a substantial portion of which have improved IED protection.

OP: As always, feedback, suggestions wanted and appreciated.
Happy Canada Day! I must confess I was mulling the idea of Independence Day, but since the actual date of Canada Day was closer, and I was pretty interested in the LAV, I chose Canada.
The protection of the LAV III amounts to a Level III equivalency along STANAG 4569 guidelines, with all round protection from 7.62x51 mm NATO rounds. The protection of the LAV III has been significantly improved over the years, with the early introduction of the ceramic Modular Expandable Armour System (MEXAS) officially bequeathing next level protection up to 14.5x114 mm rounds from 500 m. Furthermore, in 2008, the Canadians undertook a comprehensive series of programmes aimed at packages for protection against 30 mm AP, EFPs and particularly IEDs emerging, with the IED upgrades becoming a staple of continued operations in Afghanistan. These upgrades cumulatively were $68 million with the IED package alone being an additional $13.5 million. Nevertheless, for a military that had sustained the vast majority of its casualties in actions involving the LAV III, these upgrades were a necessary investment. In 2011, with IEDs still being a pressing threat, General Dynamics was awarded a contract to upgrade 550 LAV IIIs with further mine protection along with an extension of the vehicle’s lifespan to 2035. The LAV III has performed admirably in most respects in Canadian service, with issues such as feared rollovers being negligible – only sixteen, operating in very rough terrain were ever reported – and the lack of protection in Afghanistan being addressed with ad hoc solutions or later modular addons, and tools such as the Nanuk RWS. However, unlike the Leopard 2A6M’s outstanding protection in Afghanistan, the LAV III is still a much lighter vehicle, with the limitations that entails against the pernicious threat of IEDs and explosive weaponry.

More tank news, as per the new format.
If you have more queries regarding a news story, just point it out, and I’ll further elaborate and provide links.

Following on from news of the USMC’s trialing of Israeli Trophy APS, the US Army is now looking to foreign systems for solutions to emerging missile threats to AFVs. Four separate systems, two of which are Israeli in origin and one domestic will be trialed on the Stryker, Abrams and Bradley, projected to be deployed on European units once integration is complete. This is expected to be an interim solutions, as MAPS (Modular Active Protection System) the Army’s own effort is still in development.
South Korea’s DAPA is now examining methods of improving the efficiency of its 155 mm howitzers. At the Defence IQ Future Artillery conference in London, Lt Col Chung Win Jee spoke of the potential in automation of artillery systems to prevent manpower losses in any North Korean counterbattery or preliminary targeting effort, and reducing the garrison requirements on the border.
NORINCO is now exporting a new 120 mm mortar WMZ-551. The system is not an exceptional deviation from existing designs, but does offer full amphibious capabilities, and a recoil system mitigating the need for stabilisers.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has received its final prototype of the 29 tonne next generation AFV to replace the state’s M113A2 Ultra APC fleet. The currently unnamed vehicle is currently under development by the Defence Science and Technology Agency in partnership with Singapore Technologies, the project dating back to 2006, and it is expected that it will be complete by 2019.
The UK Ajax has now completed its first air portability trials at the Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit at RAF Brize Norton. The Ares platform was driven onto a real size mockup of the standard air transporters in British service, and tie down drills were practised onboard.

And that’s all for now.
