looking to get my first ccw in light of all the shit thats been going down. Ive been meaning to for a while, so I guess now is a good time. Im not new to guns or shooting, I have a model 19 smith and wesson but thats more of a range toy. I want something practical, and have narrowed it down to either a glock 19, M&P compact or something in DA/SA, my lgs has a sig p239 that caught my eye
heres the thing, I live with my dad and he already has a glock 23, so as much as im leaning towards the glock I feel like getting two of essentially the same thing is a waste of money, and I should get something completely different like the sig. But then there are interchangeable parts (im getting him a 9mm conversion barrel) to consider. Thoughts?
Also, any recommendations for holsters, and EDC set ups?

it's the summer so get a single stack or something like that. M&P shield is what I carry at the moment and I Feel the 7+1 with an extra 8 round mag is good enough

This is updated 1970s technology. It died out because there's a really easy way to jam it - look back in a straight line and spray the launcher with bullets because they can't take cover.
It's making a brief comeback because modern computers are basically free, so why not update second-tier gear?

My own experience, I was pulled over and had my hands on the steering wheel palms up. Tell the officer I'm carrying and he says it's no problem and asks for my license. I then reach for my wallet and he screams, "WOAH! WHERE IS THE GUN?" I freezed immediately and pointed it to it on my other hip (lefty).
Today, I heard a caller on a radio show report a similar story to my own.
So to the cops on /k/, do they not teach you in traffic stop 101 that if you ask for a license the person will reach for it?

I know steel plates spall and cause risk of bullet fragments, but could that be mitigated by covering the front with multiple layers of something like duct tape?

Would that help? i was thinking of getting a steel plate cuz its cheaper than ceramic but im wary of the problem of spalling. I know ar500 has some coating they could put on it but im not sure how effective it is or how much is needed

if a tank was designed right now, would it have a manned turret? i mean why would it? the loading sequence can be automated and everything else can be done from inside the hull. this way, not only will the crew be safer since they can only expose the turret having the crew fully in cover but they can also make the tank have smaller profile since crew comfort is not an issue and only restrictive factor will be the size of the gun and the size of the ammo. all of the ammo can be stored in the turret so if the ammunition explodes the crew will not be endangered.
