Why do soldiers ever wear shorts? It's the one thing I never understood about the Rhodies.
I can understand if you're in a desert or some shit, but isn't the jungle full of venomous insects, snakes, toxic plants, etc? I don't know if Africa has poison ivy and shit, but I'm sure they have something equivalent.
While shorts seem like they'd be really comfortable for operating innajungle or innawoods in the summertime, it seems like it's just asking for a bad rash or serious insect bite.

What is a good first handgun? I have fired quite a few handguns and I'd really like a 1911 cause of aesthetic and nice trigger. I can't help like feel I should start with a 9mm first though. I can't really decide though from what I understand Glock,cz, Sig, walther, and beretta are all god choices

I get home and look at it. Grab the bolt pull back and out and it pops free. This old man that had this .22 rifle for 30 plus years had no idea that the bolt locks back like that.

Then why do we build surface ships? In the 1930's the concept of an underwater cruiser or battleship were proven to be feasible however it was only treaty limitations that prevented them from going forward.
Why don't all countries just have subs, and sub versions of destroyers and carriers..

Can any of you upstanding fellows recommend a good bolt action rifle chambered in 5.56?
It'd primarily be a paper puncher, but I'd like it to double as a groundhog genocide machine on occasion. Ideally, it would capture the aesthetics of something simple like the CZ 455 Varmint (pic related), but ultimately I'll settle for function over appearance.
Any recommendations?

Can't find it anywhere else for cheaper, heard it's really good quality. They have a Smith & Wesson MP Shield for $349 as well, I heard that was a good 9mm.
With FFL dealer prices and shipping it will add an extra $42, which still puts it way below the usual $550 I see in stores and such. This is my first pistol, should I "pull the trigger"?
