I was thinking about knighthood and in modern times its just in England a reward given out and that's about it.

What if it wasn't? What if knighthood was something that still had a military significance? What if the Ezo Republic had survived and Samurai were still a thing? Modern Jaguar and Eagle warriors, etc, that kind of stuff.

How would a warrior class look like in battle? The same as regular soldier or would they have special gear? Would they lead the other troops or would they be their own units? Would their weapons be provided to them or would they have to arm themselves?

So if you had the power to design it, how would you have them look like? Infantry? Vehicles? Ceremonial equipment, like swords? What would there non-war functions in the civilian world be?

I don't think the idea is really all that realistic in the modern era. Knighthood was relevant when personal arms and equipment were prohibitively expensive for most people. The only way to use them was to be sponsored by a wealthy landowner, and agree to fight on their behalf. Today, the average person can afford the same type of rifle (Maybe not the same brand/quality/features/whatever) as the most elite soldiers in their military, so the need for a special social class just isn't there. The whole "God made man. Sam Colt made them equal." has some veracity to it.
>>
>>30620766
Tank and AFV crews. The knight/samurai is the Tank Commander at the vehicle belongs to the family. Squires and pages of varying seniority crew the other positions
>>
>>30620899
Its not that unrealistic if they performed functions in the civilian world in addition to war.

And would very well remain relevant if they were obligated to serve in the military once called, unlike regular civilians who have no such obligation, turning these guys into a military reserve.

Why hasn't /k/ set up their own international private-military/Police force yet ?

At least a National group in the U.S ? There's so much potential here

There's that, and then there's the talk about going into Africa and becoming a warlord. Which one would you pick, OP? I'm sure someone is willing to leave everything behind to create a force such as this.

Does anybody here use a shoulder holster? I feel like it would be easier for a skinny person (me) to hide a gun in a shoulder holster than a hip holster. Also post approved semi autos and revolvers for CC.

Shoulder holsters have other downsides besides the whole having to wear a jacket thing. A lot of them place the gun perfectly for someone else to use it on you.
>>
>>30620819
Yep. Most don't have modern retention features found on most open carry holsters.

Unless it points the gun downwards there is also the issue of the gun flagging whoever is behind you. May pose a risk of lethal nd if you don't practice your draw enough.
>>
>>30620575
shoulder holsters are a niche item. I have a few and they have their advantages but theyre not for everyone. Imagine wearing a back pack without the back pack part and just the straps, thats the best way I can describe it. Its irritating for some people, theyre expensive and can get tangled easily. I think everyone should at least try them but a hip holster is more basic

It's about $150, used. I want a 9mm carbine, and was considering the 995 for a while, but finding this was so sudden i don't want to get buyers remorse. I'm not so sure i like the way it looks desu, but it's so cheap

Pic related, but it may or may not look like that

$150, well that's a decent price.

Had one and got rid of it for being and feeling cheap as hell. Had screws backing out, certain parts always needed retightening, the polymer felt like garbage against my cheek... meh.

OTOH, $150 is great for something to bury in the backyard.
>>
I have shot them and thought they were good carbines. I don't care much for their pistols but like the carbine. They are $249.00 new here so that is a good price if it's in decent shape.

They'd probably be used by the losing side just as a last fuck you. I don't think any world powers really want to use them, but they'd sure like to see their enemies gone in an instant.

Except the radicals. They just want to kill infidels.
>>
Nukes are becoming obsolete. It's all about proxy wars, ICBMs, cyberwarfare and information war.

No use turning territory into a nuclear wasteland if you can't conquer it.
>>
>>30619616

As always it depends.

US nuclear strategy is all about flexibility and (iirc) Russia never drew a real line between conventional and nuclear weapons. The other nuclear powers are a little more rigid with their nuclear weapons since they don't have the budget for it.

what are the tactical advantages a pistol caliber carbine over an AR-15 for law enforcement?

all i can think of is
>same ammunition as an officers pistol
>interchangeable magazines
>low recoil/faster follow up shots
>good for within 100 yards
>mechanically less complex as a patrol rifle
>some pccs dont look as scary/militaristic as an AR-15, so people wont be rustled over the militarization of police
>the ammunition is less prone to over penetrating compared to .223 rem/5.56 nato
>works fine on unarmored threats
>easier to shoot than a pistol

i can imagine a situation in which a patrol officer has time to create distance between him and an un armored threat in a crowded area so he can shoot the threat without the round over penetrating, with rapid follow up shots
47 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>30619595

the issue is that they would be SOL if they needed to shoot vehicles or people hiding behind barriers, which i imagine happens quite often.
>>
>>30619595
99.99% of the suspects police will be required to fire upon will be unarmored.
