sks vs ak
>>30653202
AK. Removable magazine is standard and it's slightly more ergonomic. The one real advantage the SKS had- cost- has basically disappeared at this point.
Just buy an AK unless you have a love for history or a chance to pick up a sub $400 good condition SKS.
Type 81
>>30653202
AK all day long.
So a few years ago I got med sep'd because I screwed up my knee. Since then, I feel like I have been slowly getting soft. This is the worst time to lose one's edge, and it scares me. Is there a way to receive formal military training and drilling without being on active duty? Are there any civilian groups who are serious about training?
>>30653096
You pussed out the first time and you'll puss out again. Just face the fact that you're a puss. Go read a book or watch a television program. You're never going to cut being a real man.
Fucking fallout.
>>30653096
>Are there any civilian groups who are serious about training?
Join a gym. Join a gun club. Don't try to combine the two or you're either going to end up on an FBI list as a "known affiliate" or spend a shit ton of money to play paintball with rednecks.
>>30653145
Eat a bag of dicks.
I guess I will quietly sit here and wait for alqaida to turn my neighborhood into a killzone. Oh well, it's been a good run (up until 08 anyway).
Who would win in a no-bars conflict between Turkey and the Balkans region (indicated in red)?
Assume outside interference is limited to supplies
Romanians would steal all of turkeys arms at the start. War over
Albania steals everyones kidneys when they are dead, Bulgaria still mad regardless of outcome, Greeks still don't pay denbts, ankara turned into dumping ground for Romanias gypsies. Serbia blows up bosnia, Croatia shitposts, FYROM still irrelevant.

and Slovenia?
Ok so I am going to be moving from Jew York to Pennsylvania in approx. a month and I need a few pointers/clarification:
>Is there a set amount of time required as a PA citizen before i can make a firearm purchase?
>Is purchase of a handgun without a CCL permitted in PA?
>Are AK's legal, if so what are the limiting factors? ie. mag size, "assault" features.
>As long as i don't have a criminally history, is there any reason for a "shall issue" state (PA) to deny a permit for a CCL?
>If AK's are legal and handgun purchase prior to permit legal, what are some good poorfag beginners choices to get into their respective fields?
https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/pennsylvania/
>>30653014
Also I am a PA resident and the laws here are pretty good. There are some shitty things, but nothing like mag bans or "assault" weapon bans.
No semi auto hunting for example, but I think this is actually getting fought and may change.
Some weird pseudo handgun registry bullshit with the state police (I don't have any handguns so look this up, it's pretty weird)
Private sales need FFL for handguns only
>>30653084
And of course I am no lawyer so look all this up first please. Maybe somethings changed without my notice
Are there any good books that have essentially the same information taught in the military regarding combat techniques, drills, and strategies?
pic unrelated
>be /k/ommando
>spend hours every week at the range
>spend thousands of dollarydoos on Glock-brand-glocks and Daniel Defence ar15s and Aimpoint optics
>spend hundreds on armor plates, boots, combat attire and other gear
>have no idea what the fuck to do in combat other than leapfrog
really /k/...
>>30652927
Ranger Handbook will cover most everything you need to know about the basics of small unit- platoon sized and under- tactics and the basics of patrolling/movement. Most of it is useless though.
>>30652927
yeah theyre called military manuals

What kind of melee weapon would you want if you had to fight this guy to the death?
>>30652765
>>30652765
An automatic assault melee rifle.
>>30652765
A pair of running shorts and good running shoes.
Let's see /k/'s gun cleaning bench.
Inspired by this from another thread:
>You don't need to clean an AR with anything more than a rag to occasionally wipe it down.
I think this is bad advice. It's semi-true and OK a couple times, but owning a rifle like an AR doesn't mean a couple times, it's basically for life. Like safety, cleaning should be taken very seriously. Owning a rifle for 60+ years, used much or not, still requires a lot of cleaning sessions. If not, you will find it one day with rust. That is worse than neglectin powertools, vehicles, even your house. The rifle is ultimately what protects them all, and is made to outlast them.
A cleaning bench should have a clear well-lit work surface and be designated for gun cleaning. Invest in a quality brass rod and jag for each caliber you own, Dewey is good. Buy bulk packs of bore brushes, patches and mops online. Have a solvent like Hoppes No 9 and any lubricant like Rem oil- just have a giant bottle and a small refillable bottle of each. Aerosol CLP type stuff is convenient but relied on alone for long term adds up $. Have an organized system to store all this. Put everything back when you're done.
Every effort should make all the future years of gun cleaning the least burdensome as possible. Should never get home from shooting and dread cleaning, or put it off because you're out of something or your work spot is messy or a cheap plastic case for a kit broke and things aren't all in one place.
I think all this is justified. There are people who want to take these things from us, don't let us take them from ourselves.
Someday we'll hand our rifles down to the next generation. Make they get it nearly the same condition we did, and that the skills and discipline you had keeping it that way is passed on as well. Take care of our rifles better than we take care of our selves. Nothing can change that we have to go someday, but our rifles can pretty much last forever.
/rant
>>30652646
you should keep your starret in a case so it doesn't lose calibration, they're nice tools
>>30652646
I keep my rifles lubricated
Not clean
>>30652646
all I need is a boresnake, AKA a shoestring with knots tied in it, and a bottle of Hoppes synthetic blend for less smell to clean my AK.
How exactly do you 'win' ww3? Over at /pol/ they're say that NATO is mobilizing but it kinda let me to wonder how you fight a war with nukes on either side. Discuss
You win WW3 by being too pussy to launch nukes on either side, and instead send countless men to their deaths and drop a shit ton of bombs until one side gets tired and says "oh shit I'm sorry" and gives up.
>>30652399
>how you fight a war with nukes on either side
if you absolutely have to, very awkwardly
>>30652399
>let me to wonder
You're either stupid or this is a bait thread.
Anyone here love grenades and explosives?
>Undermounted
>hand-held
>launchers
>emplacements/mounted
There's so much to love about grenades, why don't people talk about these more often? Opinions on grenades in modern war? Experiences?
pic related, my favorite gun with my favorite grenade, always thought it looked badass
That might just be the most ridiculous looking rifle grenade I've ever seen. I like it.
One thing I learned in the Army is that explosives are dangerous and if you don't need to be near them then stay away.
I used C4, Det Cord, M67s, LAWs, Dragons, AT4s and TNT. I have all of my limbs because I respected what they could potentially accomplish.
I say leave them to EOD and the Sappers.
>>30652129
always reminded me of some soviet Red Alert type undermounted Tesla Coil, found it in an old weapon catalog
pic related is pretty strange looking as well, think its used by cops mostly though
9mm sbr for SHTF/chimp out?
Thoughts? Opinions?
Bump for knowledge
but thats not an uzi
>>30652050
>9mm
>SHTF/Chimp out

What do you guys think about the Glock 19 Gen 4 over-all and what do you think about them for a conceal carry weapon?
>>30651972
It be awesome if it was 10mm
>>30651972
I'd wait until the Gen 5 comes out
Which might be soon
>>30652079
but then you got new shit and new problems.
isnt it better to wait til its been on the market for a while? I know originally there were complaints about gen 4 throwing brass all over the place and thats since been fixed but it seems old enough to be without issues now.
what do you expect of gen 5?
What's your opinion on the .40? It seems cool to me, almost the same capacity as a 9mm but bigger and not as big as a .45. That's good right?
>>30651863
It's alright, if you want something that has more power than 9mm yet more capacity than .45 thats a good choice.
Yeah its a great and versatile cartridge that can penetrate car doors much better than 9mm.l
>>30651863
Just get a .45 and stop pretending to be a gay.
So /k/ I just got a glock 17 mos what's a good place to get mags at a fair price. Also what are some good sights and upgrades /k/ recommends?
>>30651646
OMG a Glock?
>>30651646
>glock mags
>fair price
Uh they're not H&K mags, faggot. I think you can find reasonably priced ones anywhere. Have you tried google? They seem to know where the cheap glock mags are hiding.
>>30651768
So what about upgrades
Convince me that I need a hi-cap pistol for CCW, /k/.
The wadcutters are my carry load. Buffalo Bore 200 grain hardcast @ ~930 FPS
They penetrate like 2 feet of ballistic gel
The reload is C.O.P 200 grain copper HP @ ~950 FPS
The Charter Bulldog slips neatly into my front pocket. Only 20 ounces, easy to carry.
Should i want more gun?
>>30651564
I wouldn't be carrying hardcast wadcutters.
>>30651564
good enough for son of sam.
but you should always want more guns.
also i know a old gunsmith who did some nasty stuff with his.
>cut off the ejector rod shroud
>cut barrel down to a inch
>take the cylinder release off.
>welded a pocket clip over the area where the cylinder release was.
>large enough to put a belt through the clip so he can wear it.
>cut off most of the metal in the grip but leave enough for a grip to seat.
>put target grips on it
>docks the hammer off
I think thats it, he also carries magsafe in it.
i dont have pics because he doesnt like people sharing pictures of his guns, he thinks people will tell other people he has guns.
>>30651664
why not, they do some pretty good damage.
Is the GI bill just a meme or is it actually useful?
Since everyone I've talked to who wants to join the military wants to join because of the GI bill.
I went to school with a bunch of post-mil dudes using the 9/11 GI bill. It paid for their tuition, books, and housing for 4 years of school. They got a mechanical engineering degree and now make $60-$150K. The two guys that did navy 'nuke' jobs prior to engineering made $150K+ starting with a 4 year bachelors. I'd say they did pretty good. Also to note was they all had a hell of a good work ethic and motivation to do a good career path.
I'm sure there's probably experiences in other directions; that's just been my exposure to guys using the post-9/11 GI bill.
>>30651249
Do the math, the benefits *almost* never make up the lost years of potentially much higher earnings. If one ends up working a dead end job for $40k a year for the rest of his life then maybe he came out ahead.
>>30651538
That's JewMath that assumes the individual would have been able to start earning at that level at the same time they entered the military. That is literally never the case or else they wouldn't have joined the fucking military. The GI bill is awesome, our tuition assistance is bullshit, though. You only get a pittance per year, and they cap the amount you can apply for each semester hour. You're basically limited to shit diploma mills.
