I served in the 82nd Airborne as an Airborne Infantryman. Now I'm out and I would aligned myself with a local militia. Absolutely. I expect to encounter other veterans.

challenging to make an effective unit larger than four or five people

not enough resources or cooperative volunteers to train an effective force. very hard to find people willing to be grunts when they're not getting paid or recognized for their contribution. unless theyre ex military, hard to train combat discipline on a weekend-warrior type basis (and these groups usually meet maybe once/month)

youre better off just having a few friends that you shoot with and who you would crew with if shit ever went down. like an eric/chad/barry type setup.

Is there anything wildly better than the Remington 1100 when it comes to readily available (in the USA,) fairly cheap semi-automatic shotguns, or is it considered acceptable?

Are steel targets safe to shoot? dont they ricochet?
53 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
Ricochets are basically not a thing.

Here it is simplified for you

>high velocity (rifle) rounds may put a crater into armored steel at close range
>bullets (kind of) turn into liquid when they hit something harder than them
>if you have a crater in armored steel a piece of bullet can enter this crater, pull a 180° and come back at you
>manufacturers specify what calibers are safe to shoot at what ranges

tl;dr- this has happened a total of 2 times in the course of 700 trillion rounds being fired at AR500 or similar targets

Ok, germanbros we need to talk!
After Thomas de Maizière and "Sigmar "das Pack" Gabriel now the CDU/CSU is considering to tighten up our gun laws.
Since there is basicly no pro gun opposition on a federal level we can expect the worst!
Together with the EU-Ban this shit is serious, we could literally get japanese standards

De Misere said restricting gun ownership wont do much because it's pretty strict as is. Not saying he's pro gun, but he is not a fanatical gungrabber.

And everybody who votes for socialists should not be suprised when they act like commies.

So /k/, I come to you with a question. Let's say that there is alien life, and it's living on Mars. Assuming they don't have FTL, relativistic bomb tech, what kind of weaponry do you think aliens might be fielding one day for a planetary conquest?
> How would they invade earth?
> What kind of warfare are we looking at if long-range barrages can be seen on radar in space and intercepted (thus making firing nukes from earth to mars impossible, and vica versa)
> would you fuck an alien?
> would you trade your raifu for a more compact, more powerful, more reliable and aesthetically designed ayylmao gun?

In what way?

Things can't just be "aesthetic," that's a valueless measure like "meme." Things are aesthetically appealing or unappealing, the qualifier is necessary.

It blows away any other pistol WML for ccw.
But for anything beyond that it does lack when compared to the x300 ultra.
Its for ultra close range, and in that respect it dominates anything else on the market (for now anyways)

I'm 19 years old and sick of my 9-5 job, my family and my life so I signed up for the British army, I past my initial run and icebreaker speech at a local TA centre.

I've applied for army air corps as my first choice, but I have friends in the queens Royal hussars, which are tanks and armoured jobs. Do I join armoured corps or stay with air corps? I don't know what to expect from air corps. Please help me and if there is any ex army blokes inform me of what it's like in AAC compared to RAC.

Ye early plate carriers.

When firearms started to get popular, it heralded the end of the heavily-clad armored knights. However, this was NOT the end of armors. They were used well into 18th century, particulary by nobility since guns were one-shot muskets etc and once you had your shot, it was often back into melee in which armors were pretty dang good to have.

Also, if you could afford one, a well-made steel breastplate COULD stop a musket round (or if lucky, just bound it off) and there even was some R&D towards this kind of musket-proof armors.

Although fully armored warriors got rare, a simple breatplate that covered your front still had it's place.

in this thread we look at those type of post-gunpowder but pre-world war era breatplates.

"Description: Spanish armor breastplate, or cuirass, with a “proof mark” in the left half. This hemispherical dent was the result of a musket ball fired into the armor to “prove” the efficacy of the manufacture. "

As far as I understand, they would even go on using these musket-tested armors.

As a sort of public message that "yeah, don't even bother. This thing can take it". It was something to be proud of. A sort of mark of quality.

I'm hearing that the army has a machine gun per fireteam, while the marines have one per squad.

Are the marines so tough that they don't even need suppressive fire or is the army just pansies.
