Anyone else here from this shithole?
Thinking about picking up a Vz58 or a LE6721. Not sure which would be neater.
For those that don't know; HBARs are the only AR's allowed. AK, FAL, HK's are banned among other things like the AUG....
I moved. Virginia is so much nicer in every way.
I'd probably get a Tavor if I was still there. Or maybe an AK SBR build.

Literally who?
Well, if you were in at the end of the last /thg/ you would know that I am building a replica tank. To be specific, a Panzer IV.
I have reached out and found 2 local mechanics, a carpenter, and a professional painter (vehicle and other) that will help with building an painting. I have 3 shops to build in (mechanic, carpenter, and my own) on top of that, I have acquired plenty of money to start up and already have a Volkswagen engine, transmission, ect to modify.
>Why make a thread about this?
/k/ has a diverse and knowledgeable base of people to draw from. It is my hope that you guys can give me advice, plans, references, ect to help make this happen.
>Whats in it for us?
Well, I will stick /k/ on the tank (in the format as the thread pic of the sticky) and may very well bring it to meet-ups for anons to drive or shoot out of.
>Where are you at right now?
Besides the listed material, I currently have bought a scale model that I am in the process of measuring and scaling up and have been working on tread designs. I have also talked to the carpenter and may have found a cheap(ish) way to "armor" the tank mostly out of wood to make it lighter and make it easier to build.
>What do you need now?
Anything you got, any relevent material helps!
>An actual engine? Whats the scale on this thing?
1:1 preferably, or as close to that as I can get. I plan on it not only driving, but shooting firework shells from the main cannon and the MG barrels taking roman candles that make it seem to shoot "tracers"
Current hull idea. The first layer is thick "China" or basically, cheapo wood that is pretty crap. Layered on this is a slab of American maple.
The reason for this layering comes from a few problems. How do you cheaply cover a large area in wood? How do you make it seem hard like armor? How do you get a good thickness without draining your wallet?
The cheapo China is cheap, thick, and can easily cover a large surface. The problem is, it is rather weak and feels flimsy just touching it (even with its depth). So, layered over that is a sheet of maple. This maple is stiff as fuck, looks good, and will take sealers and paint rather well. Not only that, but it prevents dents and cracking that occurs on the China from screws, bolts, climbing in in out of it.
Why not use a ton of good old American Maple instead? It is expensive. Buying a thinner sheet and layering it over the cheapo wood eliminates the problems with both. No more cracking and shit quality from the China, extra thick that is cheaper than buying expensive, heavy maple.
Tread idea as it stands.
Cheap, not hard to make myself, works with very little modification of rims I already have.
The problem? It is liable to break, time consuming to make, and miss need careful control to make each piece right.

i actually got to sit inside that tank at the deutsches panzer museum

Everyone is ass hurt about medics in /k/ so let's talk about tac med
>>30780412
Let's talk about a very subjective area of "medicine" that seems to have so many experts and private schools and programs with really just a bunch of fluff and no actual data or research to back it up.
Tactical medicine is not about medicine but about tactics and will vary depending on your resources.
It's like talking about firefighter medicine, we don't talk about people suffering from the host of potential injuries involved in being trapped in a burning building as firefighter-med. It's merely fire ground tactics to mitigate and stabilize a hazard before traditional EMS services can be engaged.
Teaching a cop to use a tourniquet is first aid.... not this "tac-med"
>>30780412
FYI. Having just done a multi agency multi day school shooter drill I can add some stuff later when I am at a computer to type. Just know that in the real world in a real situation it's scene stabilization, triage, system management and resource managment.
Actual medicine is limited to basic first aid and routine ATLS/PHTLS. Getting SWAT involved doesn't change how you run a "sick" trauma patient as far as medicine is concerned. So ultimately this is not /k/ related and you should have just posted in the EMS thread the mods have allowed to kick around as now you are just being obnoxuous.
I'm talking tactics IE ditch bag before or after you make entry or ammo should I pick lighter round cuz for medics ounces equal pounds
Would any anon in Kentucky be interested in trading milsurp guns?
I don't have any money for guns, so I'm offering this M48 Yugo Mauser I have. All the parts on it match except for the floorplate.
>>30780392
502 here, what are you looking to trade for?
>>30780423
I'd be interested an 1895 Nagant or a K31.
Basically anything Milsurp that's not a Mosin. The M48 is Milsurp, so I'm not asking for anything more than Milsurp.
Unless someone is willing to offer a Glock 17, in which case I'd accept that.
>>30780445
Dang, the only milsurp I have are Mosins. Would you be interested in just selling it?
What do you guys think of the .950 JDJ?

It was designed for shits and giggles and that's literally all it's good for. It's "because I can" in cartridge form.
Fuck all else to be said about it
it's a big cartridge.

How many so far?
Is it heresy to convert a 30" winchester made in 1903 to a 20" barrel?
I don't need a full choke and the riot models are sexy as fuck.
Put a grenade launcher on it
>Is it heresy to do something that's been exceedingly common for at least a decade?
Depends how you look at it. For me personally it depends on what shape the gun is in and why you want to do it.
Unless you're building a CASS gun or a trench/riot clone you would likely be better served just buying another gun.
>>30780350
If you can remove the original barrel without damaging it, and keep the original barrel in good condition, I don't see why not.
Hey /k/, what are some books every gun owner should own in their library.
Mostly looking for non fiction things.

That was painful to read;

>blaming 'England' when it was 'England' that gave them Palestine
So I'm here at Benning going through training and just heard that a fresh lieutenant out of West Point died from suspected rhabdomyolysis while in RAP week. This is the first Ranger school fatality since 1994.
Ranger school, particularly for infantry officers, is considered a school that will break your career if you fail it. Typically only soldiers in excellent shape are sent to Ranger school and of those roughly 40% end up graduating, most have to recycle a phase or two. If you don't have a Ranger tab, many battalion commanders will not allow lieutenants to have platoons and chances of being promoted beyond captain are slim with a lack of leadership positions. As such, students push themselves as hard as possible or else their career can be over.
So should Ranger school be changed? Are students being pushed too hard? Or keep it the same and increase moderation of students?
>>30780145
1 death every 12 years isnt bad. It sucks but the guy should have known his limits
>>30780145
no ranger school is it, the army holds it in high regard, it is sad to hear a man died and I give him much respect he was probably giving it his all and someone else failed him, he did not fail
>>30780145
Your claims are all fucky, or source them otherwise.
I've seen more than a few idiots who shouldn't have made private make well beyond captain without any tab.

Same as I do about video game shirts.
Your autism is showing.
About the only acceptable logo shirts you can wear without identifying yourself as a sperg is brand names and bands (metalfags and punks mostly need not apply, classic/big names acceptable).
But go ahead and respond to me with stuff like ">caring what other people think" and "it's comfortable so i wear it."

Where did they go wrong? Were they just too few in number, or are they like the potato version of the shitters in Syria right now?
killed too many women and children then defeated by tougher odds
>>30779828
Ireland isn't like Syria though, the people are reasonably civilized so eventually civilians stopped caring about them and there was no point in what they were doing. Now there are just splinter groups, they kill one person a year, and they're like criminal gangs now.
>>30779851
So it was a hearts and minds thing then. I always thought they were decently armed considering where they were located. Pic related.
