Storing explosives is extremely costy and even a little bit unsafe. Seriously doubt many would keep them around if they have been removed from use.

What would be the target of a civilian MANPAD?

I bought a cheap knife for practice sharpening. I can get it to shave when held at a 45 degree angle but it isn't hair popping sharp, it won't shave when held perpendicular to the hair. Is the bottleneck the steel or my sharpening skill? I have an expensive HSS knife I can test but I would rather ask before testing and taking steel off.

Unless the steel is extremely soft, it's likely your sharpening skill to some extent at least. However, if it dulls quickly, then most likely that's the steel failing you. It sounds like you're doing just fine, so keep up the good work.

What the other guy said. I got plain ol' iron with pretty much no carbon content to speak of to shaving sharp. How long is it going to last is the other question. Hair-popping would also be influenced by the angle you sharpen the knife to.

The Glock and the Colt felt good in my hand. The S&W was just a little awkward to try to release the magazine with one hand. What other semi-automatic pistols are roughly the same size as the Glock and the 1911? I prefer the weight of a metal gun but the Glock is still a consideration.
The aesthetics of a P226 give me a boner but I heard they're really big.
Budget around $1300 CAD. Leaning towards 9mm for affordable shooting. It will be a range toy only because lolcanada

It is hard to say as everything we see about them in the media is entertainment or fed through a biased news channel.
Even their Special Forces debacles are not fair to examine because a lot of those situations were essentially Kobiyashi Maru-Tier operations. At the end of the day they are men and women who, like us or any one state in the world, will not let their way of life be challenged by outside force. Sorry, I know I promised to make these every two or so months, but life has been really busy around here. In this thread I'll try and fullfil my other two promisses: post more PM videos and some stories. I gathered both of them and I'll post them as the thread goes along.
Political/security situation summary:

>terrorist 'cell' (bunch of idiotic teenagers trading ISIS videos on smartphones) arrested by Federal Police
>over 20k troops between Army, PM-RJ and National Security Force (which is kinda like a Military Police force used only in emergencies/large events) deployed in Rio
>housing for athelets and troops is complete garbage
>Border agents are striking in airports, traveling internationaly is now a pain in the ass
>meanwhile, in Porto Alegre, we had two PMs killed in a matter of one month
>one of them was under my command
>not really news, but it's worth pointing out that the Civilian Police in my state is once again dragging their feet, putting in as little work as possible because 'muh salary' (which has been paid in instalments for all state employeed including us for the past year or so) and is making our life a real pain in the ass once again
