Can someone explain something to me?
Why do all these youtubere always say they as striker fire is more consistent than a double single action?
Can't you just cock back the hammer and fire it like a single action?
What are they talking about?
Is this a big deal to them?
>>30795890
because there's only one trigger pull to learn?
and that's not always practical.
>>30795890
It's a pretty simple concept, but here, I made this chart for you.
>Can't you just cock back the hammer and fire it like a single action?
If you view a handgun as an emergency back up weapon, then it's poorly advised to assume that you'll have enough time or dexterity to do this. Real life is not like in the movies.
>>30795910
there are very few DA/SA pistols that don't have a safety. and the CZs and Tanfos have to be decocked by letting the hammer down manually, which always struck me as inherently unsafe.

does /k/ have any bad gun purchase stories?
>just bought my first handgun today but the experience was less than satisfying.
>been eyeing pic related for a while now but I'm in commiefornia and these have been hard to find.
>To my amazement I found this one store whose website said they had it in stock at a decent price. I made a 45 min drive there today to see if they had it (tried calling them before hand several times with no response).
>The place turns out to be some hole in the wall that is extremely small.
>Fortunately they have the gun in stock, in fact it's the last one they have, which is one display.
>But its like $60 more than the price on their website and when I ask about it, they said the prices are outdated and they basically abandoned the website a while ago
>Great.. so I ask if they can do anything about the price and they're willing to knock it down $25.
>hesitantly agree to get it since I'd much rather have one that's been undefiled by previous fingerfuckers, but with it being so hard to find I don't think I can pass it up. Worker assures me it's one of the new ones that came in just a few weeks ago.
>Worker starts processing the paperwork and then says the background check is $35. I don't know if this is the norm, but when I've bought lowers from another gun store, it was $25 for the DROS.
>Worker gives some spiel about how other gun stores charge $60+ for fees, which I believe are more likely FFL transfer fees. But the paperwork's already started so I begrudgingly accept this up charge.
>Find out to pay with card, there's another 3% fee
>mfw this shit is getting out of hand
>end up putting $200 on a card and then write a check for the remaining. Happened to have a checkbook in my car and just barely enough in that account to pay for the balance.
in the end I paid about $60 more than I expected for a gun that's been on display and left the store feeling as dirty as the place looked. how badly did I fuck up /k/?

What was the total?

>Be 18
>Want a "man's rifle"
>Impatient and stupid
>Impulse buy a SA M1A Scout Squad for $1,800 at a gun show
The fact that I paid over MSRP stung on top of learning first hand that M1As are just generally mediocre guns.
I sold it for $1,400 about a year and a half later.
>>30795636
I did the same thing except I listened to my friends advice and got a colt and resold it a couple months later (after I shot 600 rounds through it) for a $50 profit
:)
Am I the only one who has no problem giving up my rights to help ease the the violent culture shock brewing up in the recent years? Seems I am in the minority on /k/. I am a huge fun owner and run over a dozen guns (pistols, milsurp, rifles including both AR and AK platform etc.) and would gladly give up any of it it would help the problem with shootings here in the USA.
I mean- in the end, the whole point of having the 2nd Amendment is to secure the right to life. We're at the threshhold where they are doing more harm than good - statistically. It's all over the news.
Of course I'd be sad to see all my funs go. And turn my collection in.... but I would willingly do it and comply with the law so that we can improve the crimes situation.
Gun owners that don't see this are being a little hypocritical, no? Why doesn't anyone on /k/ realize this?
>>30795337
Nice bait, faggot.
>>30795337
It wouldn't though, and the statistics back it up. Paris still happened. And if you buy me either a pressure cooker or a couple bags of fertilizer, I could have you a bomb in a week, that in an enclosed space would do way more than gun fire would.
>>30795349
Nono not bait...

So my mom's an anti-funner. She's also a huge liberal atheist that won't let me hear the end of it for daring to own a shotgun and .22. We get into arguments at least once a month about firearms, and every time I start to win the argument she just says "Alright that's the end of the discussion."
Tomorrow is my 21st birthday and I'm planning on buying a handgun I've saved up over the past months for. She started whining about how she 'doesn't like guns' and how the second amendment was archaic and I finally snapped.
"Mom, I'd honestly give up the second amendment if they also got rid of the first. If only to shut you up."
She hasn't spoken to me for the rest of the evening.

Can we all agree that USGI mags are better than PMags?
I cant keep my pmags loaded without the feed lips getting deformed...
Lancers > USGI > Hex > PMags Gen 3 > PMags Gen 2 > Surefires > Drums >
>>30794993
no because GI followers are terrible and if you drop a mag the risks of it getting dented and deformed out of spec is way too high.
the feed lip problem is the notch in the back of the magazine for the bolt catch/last round hold open acting as a stress riser when you drop a fully loaded magazine on the lips.
>>30795120
Most USGI aluminum mags come standard with magpul followers now.
As for the rest of that, good and fair points.

there's just so much that can be said of this but it all boils down to "frig off, Randy"
Get fucked ATF. Now I can afford getting an FFL without paying $2000 a year for ITAR
>Modification of a firearm that changes it's round capacity
Do these fucking people still not know how a magazine works? Like anyone is going to modify a garand to take twelve round clips.
What gun under 2500 should I buy to get the most attention at the range? Yes, i'm a douche bag. I was thinking of getting an L6 Deagle or a Plat Gold Deagle. I also thought of getting a Five-seveN. I guess the best way to put this is, which firearm under 2500 makes for a good conversation piece. I have a SCAR 17s with EOtech and Magni but it honestly doesn't get that much attention at the range.
>>30794855
You're a douchebag.
Also, some kind of AR with a loudener.
That's gold plated.
Or an artillery Luger (the less tacky and douchey route)
>>30794884
Yeah, I am a douche bag. I have enough AR's and a loud brake is a different tier of douche bag that i'm not trying to achieve. Also, artillery luger is pretty gay.
>>30794855
Get a cheap ar and have it coated with stars and stripes.
>"READ INSTRUCTION MANUAL" printed directly on gun. Permanent
>"CAUTION: CAN FIRE WITHOUT MAGAZINE" printed directly on gun. Permanent
Can we not treat people like fucking morons and hold them accountable for their fuckups, or is that just not possible and we have to ruin the aesthetics of our guns forever? fucking normies I swear
>>30794835
How about next time you blame someone else for your problems, ask yourself if it's your fault or purely the product of random chance.

What kind of gun is this, /k/?

Enlisting soon for the military
not sure which branch to choose, which is best & why?
Navy if you want to travel.
Army if you want a job after you're out.
Air Force if you want a career when you're out.
Coast Guard if you want to fight pirates and drug runners.
Marines if one or more of your parents was one because anything else will just disappoint them.
>>30794837
What do Marines do exactly? What separates them from the army?
>>30794878
They're the grunts of the navy. So it really boils down to army or navy

Dearest /k/
I have a blue water sail boat and am planning on taking it across the Atlantic next year. What countries should I hit up to smuggle rare slavshit from? I can't access Russia unfortunately but I can go to any countries along the Mediterranean Sea such as ukrain, Romania, etc. any advice on establishing contacts and such? I can't bring back much as my boat is rather small and I need the room for supplies, but I'd still like to bring back a few rare "parts kits" with me if possible
Libya, Pakistan, Sudan and Somalia all have cheap guns. No to be confused with Iraq, Syria, Eygpt where market supply forces the slavshit to higher prices.
>>30794508
I forgot to mention the general route I'm taking will lead me to Europe, or north Western Africa if I choose. It seems that the slaviest countries I can access by sea are in the Mediterranean sea. I could go to Russia by sea but the waters are a lot harder to navigate up there especially in a smaller boat like mine.
are you taking a rifle, or indeed any arms on your Trans Atlantic trip?
is anyone going with you?
will you document your trip and upload whenever you can, else at the end of the trip
In the event of a home invasion, are you supposed to shoot to kill?
>>30794479
If you want to. It's your house, you can do what you want until the cops get there.
Depends where you live, how threatened you are, and if you're cool with going to trial.
For example, i live in NM (which is pretty good with gun laws) but i can only shoot someone if they threaten my life or another life. I'd have to watch Mr nig nog walk out my door with my TV unless he tried to attack. Study your state laws instead of asking no guns central
>>30794501
What would you do? I personally wouldn't want to take any risks. By that I mean I would assume the invader is armed, so I'd be inclined to blow his head off on sight...BUT I feel like it could be a legal nightmare. I live in Massachusetts, the laws of which are cucked beyond belief.
