During WW2, in the battle of France, Rommel's 7th Panzer "Ghost Division" moved so fast even the Germans themselves had a hard time tracking where they were, to the point that they had to give a direct order to Rommel to STOP.
During the invasion of Iraq, even the modern US army encountered this problem, VII Corps were ordered to stop at different eastings to track their progress. This lead to a delay of 2 days and the loss of the element of surprised in their flanking maneuver.
In either scenario, what would have happened if the high command gave no two shits and said "if you think you can reach the sea by nightfall do it" and gave the order to attack as fast and as far as their logistics could keep up with them?

Isn't Iraq landlocked though?
Anyways. Iraqi army broke badly and quickly, so it probably would've worked out ok. Casualties might have been a bit higher in the overextended push than they would have been otherwise.

What is it about guns that attracts so many psychopaths?
I'm so fed up with gun control advocacy and propositions that generally take away basic human rights from innocent civilians. I try my hardest to advocate how responsible most gun owners are. How paramount it is to be able to defend oneself from the threats of the world. But not only does it fall on deaf ears (especially in today's more liberalized society), you also get fucks like these who make you and every gun owner with look like maniacs by association. No matter how I or anyone I've met tries, we end up undeservedly looking like the bad guys. And that's without getting into shit like school shootings or domestic terrorist attacks. Another issue that makes us look like rapists and murderers. The very people we originally got guns to defend ourselves from.
So seriously, why do guns attract so many psychopaths? Why are they so appealing to people who just want to partake in conflicts with other human beings? They're inadvertently making us look bad and risking the loss of our civil rights by doing this.

I want a 9mm compact. I have a 380, wife has a 380. What do you guys have for recommendations? Why do you like/hate about the gun you chose. What defence ammo you recommend? Once I get a few recommendation I will head to fun store and see what feel best in my ham hands.

I have a shield. I like the aftermarket it has like trigger upgrades, sights and magazine capacity enhancements. It is extremely soft shooting for a gun its size and it is also extremely affordable while retaining quality.
I don't like the stiff slide release, how you have to remove the sight to access the safety plunger, seating flush mags when closed requires deliberate and extra effort.

is there a generally agreed upon "best" less expensive AR variant, or other modern sporting rifle? I hear the ruger 556 is a great entry into this class, but are there any others? Looking to stay under or around $600 USD, but I can't put off buying one any longer. god knows they will probably be illegal soon enough.
I already own a remington 1911, a magnum express 12 gauge, and .303 Lee-Enfield (1946, iirc)

What's a good handgun for a beginning gun owner? Preferably .45 calibre.
I'm sick of being pissed off and offended by people. I'm sick of arguing and taking shit from them. So I want the strength and tools that grant you the upper hand in case of further conflicts. I'm lifting for that purpose in particular. But I would also like a little something extra to seal the deal and end the situation quickly on the off-chance it progresses to that level.
How expensive are M1911s? They seem pretty damn stylish.

I'm not very much in the know when it comes to branches of the military, never learnt much about them. A friend of mine said that any Olympic level athlete could pass SAS/SBS selection easily and that the walking aspect of the training would be the easiest part for them.
How true do you think that is?

But for the most part, they would do okay with the physical aspect of selection. Whether or not they could pass the mental aspect is the biggest question, and that's down to the individual.

Lets see olympic athletes preform on one MRE a day(if that) and 30 minutes of sleep for a few weeks straight. Athletes are used to being spoiled and getting a sauna and massage after their workout.

Whenever I get into gun debates with eurotards or liberetards they always bring up the "You're more likely to get shot owning/carrying a gun than if you didn't have one." argument. And I don't know how to counter it. I know it's wrong, it's very blatantly wrong and it pisses me off just how wrong it is but I don't understand how to effectively argue against this. The statistics are facts.
