Some pics from the Miracle of America Museum in Polson Montana. This is maybe 2% of the stuff there, if you are ever in the area you can't miss it.

Live in Montana and this is relevant to my interests
I need advice on something, /k/. Yes I'm a newfag. I don't know a huge amount about guns, but right now I'm writing something that takes place in a setting where's it's almost constantly raining. And I was wondering.
In a world that wet and muddy, what gun would you want? What would be reliable? I'd imagine something simpler so there's less parts to screw up? Or are there any modern-day projectile weapons I haven't heard of that would work better than a gun? Other than a fancy bow.
Glock and Sig both pass something called a saltwater imersion test. 30 days in muddy Salt water pull it out and they will fire. Just about anything can be duracoated for extra protection
Really only one choice.

This is a gun designed for use underwater
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwater_firearm
I don't know how much use it would be above ground, but at least you know it's water proof.
How do i start a militia /k/?

go to redneck land
Get a couple friends together and just do whatever after that. I'd try and make a good image for yourself like stock up on a ton of necessities and raise money together that way if anything in your town or area happens you can help the community and just help around the community in general become in good standing with at least most people

General magazine thread, what do you have in your gun?
>>30804053
They go down to $8/each with free shipping if you buy 20+ every now and then ever since Orlando.
They work fine.
>>30804053
yes they're great mags especially for the price.
>I thought pic related goes down to $7 every week or so
they used to every weekend for a while, I guess they aren't running that deal as often now.
>>30804053
They're clearing them out to make way for series 2 magazines.
I have a bunch of series 1 hexmags, and have never had any problems.
I know that modern Western 30-06 is too "hot".
Is Tula or Wolf 30-06 mild enough to be fired out of Garands?
>>30804048
>steel slav shit through a garand
i wouldnt trust any modern 30-06 to run through a garand spare garand specific 30-06 loads. buy surplus greek shit if you can find it or load your own.
Why not just buy a vented gas plug?

Who is currently the most successful modern conqueror?
Does conquering land have the same military value it once did thousands of years ago?
I'd say the US simply because of how we've spread our culture and how we created shitty proxy governments
>>30803720
>Who is currently the most successful modern conqueror?
PRC.
>Does conquering land have the same military value it once did thousands of years ago?
Somewhat. It's all about how quickly you can bring your new resources to fruition.

He successfully united the kingdom, his work still fruiting even now.
Ok so If I am an 18 and live in a state where an 18-20 year old can legally possess a handgun, but it is illegal for anyone to sell/furnish one to me until I turn 21, can someone who is above 21 purchase it and then sell or give it to me in another state where no such restriction exists? Or does the restriction apply to residency rather than actual place of transfer?
>>30803577
Straw purchase is what you're describing.
I hope you don't have a dog.
Alternatively, if your parents or direct relative wanted to buy it, shoot it a bit, decide they didn't want it, and then later down the line gift it to you for collecting family good boy points...or some shit...THEN it's legal.
Unless your state is a piece of shit.
>>30803577
It has to be a gift. As long as you aren't giving the purchaser money for the weapon it's not a straw purchase- so, know anyone who'll just give you a handgun for free?
>>30803577
What state, OP?
hey /k/ is 3 round burst considered to be a machine gun by us law?
>>30803508
yes. Anything that fires more than 1 round per trigger pull is a machine gun.
>>30803508
3 > 1, so, yeah.

Enlisted or Officer for someone who's interested in joining Special Operations Forces?
>>30803426
If you can commission, do it. But realize that you'll get to do hard charging shit early in your career but making a full 20 year career out of it will require political finesse and you'll live behind a desk for the last 12 years of your career, minimum. You also run a very real risk of not getting picked up for promotion and making it 20 years at all.
Enlisting will make you a better officer if you decide to commission later on, but it is going to suck a lot more especially at lower enlisted ranks. But you will likely be able to operate operationally for more of your career, and commissioning is usually always an option if you're not a shitbag at being enlisted and you have a 4 year degree. But you might operate hard early in your career only to commission and get assigned as a platoon leader of some maintenance platoon. But that's the suck for you.

Right now I'm in College, majoring in Econ with a minor in French, because I am primarily interested in the Green Berets. On one hand, all of my friends and relatives who know about my desire to go into the Military are telling me to do ROTC/OCS instead of enlisting. On the other hand, I'm not sure how I personally feel on whether or not being an Officer straight out of College is a good idea. I don't want to be baby sat by NCOs, so I thought it might be better to enlist for more hands on time, and then commission if I decide I want to make a career out of it. If I don't want to make a career out of it, I'll have my degree as a fallback.
Is it true that officers in SOF only spend like 18-24 months in the platoon level, and then they move on to some sort of command post?
Saying this probably doesn't really matter because it's, no offense, pretty unlikely that you're going to make it, if you even try at all, considering you're...coming to 4chan to ask this, but I'd highly advise Enlisted if you want anything close to the kinds of things you're probably imagining your life would be like. SOF isn't really much of an Officer's world, for the most part.
What is it /k/?
>>30803410
I'm partial to my Ruger Redhawk

One of the new Desert Eagles with a built in muzzlebrake. Hard to find a picture of one though. Given the weight and the smooth recoil of a DE the .44mag is probably the most ideal caliber for it. Some people also have extended 10 round mags for it.
(picture related)
If you're talking about an expensive Revolver which is manageable but packs a bang... then you actually want a .460 Smith & Wesson.
The reason is because it also handles .454 Casull and .45 Long Colt. And with these calibers you can get the wide flat nose bullets that do so much damage.
The important thing being that .45 LC is something you could easily get ahold of and already packs as much firepower as a 357. But they have +P loads for 45 LC that are just ludicrous and the .460 S&W will be able to handle all of them.
If you do the smart thing and get it modified for Speed Loader use... you can now also use .45 ACP and .460 rowland. It might as well be like a higher caliber Medusa.
Iv had a few 44's. Got rid of them all except the Marlin lever action.
Long barreled revolvers are a bit unwieldy and only useful for hunting...after the novelty wore off, I just use a rifle because it's better in every way.
You could make an argument for matching your rifle with your handgun in the same caliber. But I feel 38special/357 Fills the role better.
Lever safeties appeal to me in ways I don't understand.
