Howdy /K/, I got a few funny stories from this years Abbotsford International Airshow's after party that'd i'd like to share, one in particular involving the CAF Snowbirds.
I don't really post my own threads on 4chan, nor do i really write about personal experiences all that often, so please bear with me.
At the airshow there's this sort of famous after party called "Hanger 13" that most of the performers go to, one of the volunteers i worked with who had been volunteering for a long time told me that it sort of has this infamous reputation, and didn't really get all that much into it, saying that "You need to experience it for yourself". It being my first year volunteering decided to go to it, I went friday after the Twilight and had a few beers and got some interesting stories to tell, (I'll post about those later), but for the most part it was uneventful compared to Saturday's after party.
So Saturday rolls around, it was hot, busy, and a long day. So I was really looking forward to that nights party. 6pm rolls around and I catch a ride across the tarmac to Hanger 13. I show up and its pretty quiet, I go and talk to some Sea King pilots and crew to kill time, we slam a few beers, build a tower out of the cups, and talk about how they manage to land that big helicopter on the small decks of frigates. Eventually people start turning up, most of the Americans show up, a lot the "senior staff" for the airshow were there but the ratio of military to civilians was about 3-1. An hour and some go by when eventually some of the Snowbird crew turns up, I believe it was 4 of the pilots in the red flight suits and a lot of the technical staff, 10 or so in total. I mingled for a bit longer but before long I was approached by a bald man in a red flight suit who i overheard was being called "Johnny". He elbows into the circle of people im talking to and asks in thick Quebec accent, "Do you speak french?"
I reply, thinking he was just trying to make small talk with, "No, not really enough to hold a conversation."
He then stiffens up and explodes at me, screaming "Fuck you buddy, take off the shirt. You don't deserve to wear it, you don't respect our language." and all sorts of other profanities. For a good 10 minutes he gives me this routine that could be compared to a drunken cross between "Drill instructor" and "Roast" before calling over some sergeant in the Canadian reserves and briefs him on the crime that is my shirt. He also explodes at me, giving me a similar rhetoric. At this point i was like, "Fuck it, I don't want to be around these guys if theyre gonna be like this all night".
So I fuck off and find some american Avionics tech i met the previous night named Dave, we talk some more and he leaves, and i mingle once more until eventually I settle in with the same Sea King crew. Johnny returns, with Sgt Frog in tow...
They both waste no time, getting back to roasting me. This goes on for another 30 minutes. I normally a pretty thick skinned guy, Their initial barrage of insults and junk didn't really get to me, but I'm a civilian, I don't have to put up with this, I just came out to have a good time. So i pipe up, very frustrated i say to them "If you want the shirt off me so bad, pay me for it."
He stops for second, before reaching into his wallet and pulling out a 20. I take it, strip out of my shirt and walk over to the nearby drink ticket booth and get change. I get back to him hand him the shirt, hand him the 10$ and ask "Are we cool?"
He smiles, laughs and says. "Oh man, you are awesome" and accepts the money and shirt and then extends his hand. We shake gives me a hug, and then gestures to the other Sgt and we do the same. He then bought me a drink and then a few hours after that I went home.
I have to say it was a 10/10 time, I would volunteer again.
And if you're reading this Johnny, I hope you like the shirt, because you owe me one. And a case of beer.
does /k/ like the k2?
It took them forever to unfuck the engine and suspension.
There's a bunch of features I like though.
>KSTAM wrecking your shit from five miles away
>main gun can elevate enough to shoot at helicopters
>>30998994
It is a substantial upgrade from the K1, K1A1 and M48's that worst Korea uses now.
>>30999030
>main gun can elevate enough to shoot at helicopters
every tank can do that
Why don't other countries allow their citizens to own firearms?
>>30998993
Because they are corrupt and fear rebellions.
I just spent an hour trying to watch funny videos on YouTube and all I could find was shitty sarcastic liberal Americans. Not the good kind of sarcasm the whiny shit. Fuck these people. I will trade my citizenship canada for a place in new Hampshire or something.
>>30998993
why dont you just live in a border state? Canadians always tell me most of canada is near the border. move to a border state enjoy your guns, go over border enjoy bagged milk, poutine, and family close by

What's the best legal way for self defense in city parks?
I was in a nature park walking the trails and turn a corner and suddenly two of these fuckers are staring me down and start to growl before I can even come to a full stop. If their idiot owner hadn't appeared a second later to regroup them I probably could've been mauled. They were not on leashes and I had nothing to protect myself with. I do own a tiny bottle of pepper spray but it wouldn't have done jack to these things, assuming I even had time to get it out. Am I going to have to get a conceal carry permit just to do my nature walks? I'm in Oregon btw.
depending on your local laws you can carry in state or city parks
carry a small frame revolver to use on dogs if you absolutely need to

I had two of these chase down my first dog down and rip it to shreds.
Why does nobody use nukes to fire bullets/shaped charges etc?
>>30998780
That -something- howitzer that I can't remember how to spell well enough for google to fill in the rest. I think it started with a k?
>>30998831
Caseba.
And desu, unless you're in space, there's no reason to use nuclear shaped charges when you can just, you know, nuke the bad guys.

I've always wondered, what is the undershirt that big boss is wearing in MSG Snake Eater?
Is there anything that the military wears thats like this? Or is this undershirt just an artistic thing?
Its not a sneaking suit, so is it just supposed to be under armor? It looks pretty thick.

I've wondered this myself.
It seems like rubber sleeves, it would make sense if he was in a rubber jumpsuit.
gore-tex compression suit
what gun is this ?
shotgun slug ?
>>30998720
Well..... better than being lit on fire
I'm pretty sure you'd be right in saying it's a shotgun slug.
>>30998720
That is not even close to what I expected to happen. There's a large entry hole on the top of his head when he starts to fall over so we know it's a slug but why didn't it go all the way through? I thought it would, no problem. Is the human skull really that hard?
Should I get Alice stuff
Or
Smersh stuff from SSO
Smersh allows you to carry more, if you go Russian go RATNIK though
>>30998587
Where'd you get teh RATNIK digital flora?
>>30998609
Ebay, ruforyou, Russianthunder, there's a lot of places to get it pretty easily. Just make sure you get Technikom and not Betaprom, I made that mistake and am in the middle of swapping my 112 for a 116
22 charger pistol for 3 gun match? pros, cons, what do you think
>not centerfire
>no rimfire class
>>30998560
Pros: lightweight, low recoil.
Cons: too small of a caliber to be permitted for three gun.
>>30998560
what 3gun division lets you shoot 22?
Does a hatchet have much practical use in a SHTF pack or is it a waste of space?
I've been watching a lot of Vikings and frankly want an excuse to buy an axe.
>>30998398
How else are you going to chop wood?
Yes and no. They are a good tool to have, but are a little more limited than a long handled axe.
>>30998421
A large strong knife and another piece of wood.
I don't believe that John Browning designed all of these weapons himself. He must have had a team of collaborators and I wouldn't doubt that he took credit for other people's work.
When you look at other great gun designers, none of them have nearly as many significant gun designs attributed to them
>>30998306
I thought this about Kalashnikov. Some farm kid from the tank regiment making this amazing assault rifle? I think it was a story the soviets made to create false hope for their nation
>>30998306
>he doubts the genius of browning
Nigga made a gas actuated gun in less than a week after seeing his manlet friend blow around grass with the muzzle blast
>>30998385
I attribute the AK to pic related
So what are you building?
>>30998210
Oh the usual, going to college with full scholarship, maybe join ROTC half-way if that's possible, and build a career. Nothing special, seriously.
>>30998210
Is pic related illegal?

I am looking for a somewhat affordable rifle chambered in a "full power" caliber, that is relatively slim and, most importantly, has iron sights from the factory. Right now, I've zeroed in on the Savage 11 Hog Hunter in .308, which is a bolt action, holds 4 rounds in the magazine, and costs $400. I'm also thinking of a Henry 45-70 lever gun, except for the additional cost for ammo. At present, my only two rifles are an AR-15 and PS90.
The main purpose of the rifle will be sport shooting, just to have a rifle in my collection that can go "thump" against my shoulder a few dozen times a month when I take it to the range. However, it would also be nice to have something that I can bring camping with me in brown bear country just to have something powerful enough to end a bear's life without worrying about scoring a head shot while my hands are shaking. It would basically fill the role of a Mosin Nagant in some other people's collection.
I am also thinking of a 12 gauge shotgun with iron sights for shooting slugs, but the ability to reach out well past 100 yards if I ever mount a scope is another appeal of a .308 rifle. What are /k/'s thoughts?
tl;dr, few-rifles wants to become big-rifles, pls help
>>30998119
We've got a bolt action general thread but it's pretty slow sometimes.
I'd say that's a good choice.
>.308
