Getting a garand tommorow as part of a trade. Shot them before, but never owned one. Anything I need to know/get in order to make it more enjoyable/lasting? I've heard about getting the garandgear gas plugs but don't know anything as to the why.

Dont shoot new production ammo. If you do make sure its made for the M1 Garand. New ammo will bend the op rod

M1 Garands were made to shoot M2 Ball and nothing else. Modern Commercial ammo is to hot for the gas system, thats why you need a Garand Gear gas regulator. Also if you cant find actual M2 Ball, PPU makes M1 Specific ammo. Get some Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease (the red stuff) so you can grease up the op rod tracks and bolt. Enjoy your M1

Hello fellow kommandos, I am also a kommando.

Anyways, our Governor just signed a bunch of shit laws, so on Jan 1st they take effect, and ban most everything fun.
I had been wanting an AR for the last few years, and was thinking about doing the 80% route which is now dead. So on monday I popped my cheery, picked up a mid level AR (an Armalite Def Sport optics ready) at the local gun shop.

Since then I bought a DDI-12 and Yugo underfolder AK online.

What else should I get while I still can get?

things I want:
-Scar 17S (or some kind of 308),
-VEPR 12
-FN-PS90

(these are sold out everywhere though)

His early ones generally are. The later ones get kind of iffy and most of them after 2003 are either ghostwritten or just by someone else entirely with his brand name slapped on.

Without igniting a holy caliber war, why has 6.5x39 not achieved anything approaching the same market coverage as 6.8x43?

When I look for 6.8 manufacturers, I find multiple name brands like LWRC, Stag, Rock River, Barrett, and LMT. In contrast, 6.5 has Alexander Arms and... Les Baer?

For higher end hunting/match bullets, I find more bullets explicitly designed for the 6.8 from Federal (3), Hornady (4), and even Barnes has a TSX designed for the 6.8. When I go looking for 6.5, I find Federal (1, and AE at that), Hornady (2), and I don't think Barnes makes any bullets explicitly for 6.8.

As far as I can tell, both bullets have roughly the same momentum/KE from similar barrel lengths inside of average hunting ranges, with the 6.5 starting to shine for target shooting past that. With that in mind why hasn't the 6.5 caught on so more with most rifle and bullet manufacturers?

Because a majority of NATO forces still uses 5.56.

Aftermarket, knowldge of such a round existing, popularity, marketing, etc. At the same time, designing magazines and lowers for it as well as parts.

Mossberg now makes an AOW shotgun based on the 500 and they're...drumroll please....$910. Because fuck you, that's why.

That's fucking bullshit. They know it, I know it, you know it. Discuss

They only charge that much because their only competitor (Serbu) charges $1050 for the same thing. They can still Jew you hard with no lube while at the same time being the cheaper OEM option.

So yeah, one part capitalism and one part "fuck you". There is no reason these should cost more than ~$100 over a standard model, and even that's generous.

Surefire EP4s. $13. Electronic Ear Pro is only needed if you absolutely cannot take it off for an extended period of time and absolutely need to hear people talking.
>>
In ear electronics are not going to be sub-300 by any stretch.

I've got some sport ears. Love em, doubling up with some sordins makes even .50s sound flaccid while still being able to hear everything perfectly. But that's like $1400 in earpro and you'd have to be a massive fucking retard to do something like that.

I hear good things about TEP-100s which are relatively affordable.

I have a 75B dated 1998 and seem to have trouble getting grips that fit. I have tried two different ones (G10 and cocobolo) both fit very poorly. Anyone know if the frame changed at some point or do I just have shit luck?

Also CZ general. Post some pre-b's.

Post a picture of your gun and the grips fitting poorly on it. How do they fit poorly? It is not unheard of to have to do some minor fitting to a new set of grips to make them work on your gun.

Sorry about the picture quality. I have shitty lighting here.

The boss on the inside face of the grip doesn't contact the frame anywhere when installed. There is a good 1/8" clearance around the perimeter. This allow the grip to pivot about the grip screw.

I would be glhappy to do a little fitting, but this would need substantial shimming. These are full checkered cocobolo grips from cz custom.

So what do you meme-o-holics think of .458 socom?

I was thinking of picking up a CMMG anvil in .458, or building my own rifle, still debating.

Is the round good for innawoods? is it good for HD?

discuss

In any situation, be prepared to go through the pains of building a rifle that hasn't been thoroughly tested and manufacturing standardized.

If you want a reliable 600gr slug chucking weapon, get a mossberg 930 and brenneke black magic slugs.
