We're always told that warships need guns to prevent them from being board by fast boats. But is there any actual instance where a team of fast attack boats managed to overwhelm (capture, disable, sink, or board) a modern navy vessel?

>>
We would if modern boats didnt have the guns.
>>
Aren't the guns mostly for SHORAD these days?
>>
Why don't they just ram fast boats? or just cut off the ropes they are using to board?

Why would I pack any repellents if I don't expect any mosquitos/bugs on the way to my bug out location?

Bug out bag is supposed to help you get from point A to point B. Not everyone is bugging out into a forest. In fact, bugging out into a forest is fucking stupid in most cases and definitely not a good long-term solution.

I bet your bag has at least 10+ pounds of useless gimmick shit that you wouldn't need in any realistic scenario, while having insufficient amounts of water/food.

Depends on the style you want. Looks like you are interested in a iwb? Also looks like your picture is a savoy leathers, I was thinking about ordering one.

I have a couple crossbreed that are pretty much the same style as that, they are really nice.

So apparently police forces in Germoney use anti shark chainmail when they have to subdue a blade wielding suspect
Apparently this kind of suit will set you back $25k+
Being into armor and shit, I know 'battle ready' titanium mail shirts only cost around 3-4k
My question for /k/... is this shark bite-proof chainmail suit better suited for medieval style combat compared to traditionally made armor? Even if the latter is made with modern materials?

So much you can enforce gun control with them
>>
>>31205611
They're not bad, but not great either, compared to ordinary ground troops. The main benefit is being low-profile in domestic news, which is mission-critical stuff if you're fighting a war and from a democracy.
>>
Pros:
>Wage war from thousands of miles away
>Zero threat to personnel
>Constant presence
>Fairly cost effective
>Spy while you Hellfire random civilians

Cons:
>Very vulnerable to MANPADS, AA
>Needs ground support, airfield

Yes it's very effective, especially against underdeveloped militaries.

Okay, so, I've literally never owned a gun before, except for a cheap .22 I used to take down to the range whenever friends were going. I've recently started to consider buying something small but reliable to conceal carry for self-defense. Ideally it'd be small enough to carry daily and keep concealed, but still powerful enough to stop the occasional heroine junkie. I don't know jack about guns, so I thought I'd bring it here. Pic is related, it's what I've been considering.

The P238 was my first concealed carry pistol and my first centerfire gun I bought on my own, after having been gifted a couple .22's over the years from my dad (Ruger 10/22, Browning Buck Mark), and after having used several other family and friends' centerfire rifles and handguns...

Anyway, it's a reliable, well made gun. I carried it for all 3 years of graduate school (I live in a campus carry state). I never found it onerous to carry, and the times I would get in front of a class and teach a lesson as either a TA or lead instructor, the students never noticed it in my waistband.

Once I got good with it, I found it to be extremely accurate and pretty easy to shoot as well. However, if you are just learning how to shoot a handgun, there is going to be a steeper learning curve, due to how small it is, than there would be for a full size pistol. It's actually relatively easy to control in the scope of guns out there, but beginners find it snappy and will often develop a flinch when first shooting it. Even if you can train yourself out of the flinch, the short sight radius means you need to keep your hands extremely steady. On the flip side, there is tremendous skill transfer. If you can train yourself to shoot this gun well, then you can learn to shoot pretty much any other gun accurately too.

WTF is Fuddy about LAV? Delta operator and legend. Was one of the big four highend custom 1911 smiths back in the day before moving on to other things. Very pro second instructor and big personality with unique access to growing Russian shooting industry. Yeah he is big on the 416 which he developed for Socom but he is a realist and I have heard him talked about its cons too.

Which would you get?

They're roughly the same price ($2600) and I plan to SBR either one.

These are just for fun for me, so I don't care about the efficacy of the cartridges from the short barrel lengths.

The SP5K will cost more because I'll have to get it clipped and pinned with a paddle mag release. I might also be tempted by a tri-lug barrel. But 9mm is much cheaper to shoot and isn't nearly as eardrum-shattering from such a short barrel length.

On the other hand the 553P is 100% Swiss made goodness. Real 55X guns haven't been available since the prebans, which are all $5000+ now.

Which would you get?

>Which would you get?
personally, I wouldn't get either of them
they are both ugly and pointless (at least without the stock) and too $$$ for my liking
if I wanted SMG-pistol just for fun, I'd get vz-61 ($200 where I live)

but If I had to choose, I'd pick SP5K, because of reasons you mentioned
>>
>>31205262
I said I would SBR them, which might have went over your head, but in the USA that stands for short barreled rifle, meaning I am going to put a stock on whichever one I get. I agree they are pretty pointless without the stock. It's $200 to the ATF to get permission to SBR.
>>
>>31205016
SP5K all day for me.

Get a PDW stock and an MP5K foregrip (after SBR stamp, ofc), now that's some good shit.

Sup /k/ I'm new to firearms,

I just picked up a new Smith and Wesson M&P AR-15 in 5.56. It came with a set of trigger locks, a Magpul P-Mag, a barrel plug that goes in the receiver, and a Magpul MBUS 2 rear sight. It cost me $1200 from a local gun shop. Guy showed me how to disassemble and clean it, and other basic operations; What do you suggest I do?

Any customization? Extra training? etc

On 10 March 1994, Holland commanded a single-aircraft training mission to the Yakima Bombing Range to provide an authorized photographer an opportunity to document the aircraft as it dropped training munitions. The minimum aircraft altitude permitted for that area was 500 feet (150 m) AGL. During the mission, Holland's aircraft was filmed crossing one ridgeline about 30 feet (10 m) above the ground. Fearing for their safety, the photography crew ceased filming and took cover as Holland's aircraft again passed low over the ground, this time estimated as clearing the ridgeline by only three feet (1 m). The co-pilot on Holland's aircraft testified that he grabbed the controls to prevent Holland from flying the aircraft into the ridge while the aircraft's other two aircrew members repeatedly screamed at Holland: "Climb! Climb!" Holland responded by laughing and calling one of the crew members "a pussy".[1]
