I want to mount a scout scope on my SKS, and thus far I've got several choices on how to do this.

See, that's the funny thing. It was extremely dishonorable for a Japanese soldier to go home injured instead of dying for his country. This explains why they had kamikaze pilots and such. Once they realized they were out of fuel, ammunition, fucks, etc, they would charge at the enemy. This was extremely useful psychologically, but obviously ended with them dying moreso than not.
But, to answer your question, your anime character should probably be an amputee, and looked down upon, as it was extremely disgraceful to 'not give 100% of your effort' during the war. It was commonplace to be summarily executed on sight if your higher-ups didn't like you, and saw that you retreated like a coward. This is also why the nukes were a bad thing.

LGS is selling SKS crates for $25, and I was thinking if it was a good idea to clean one up to store my measly collection of raifus? I plan on sanding the edges, and maybe making compartments on the inside.

This is the worst feel. Like it or not, guns are for killing bad people when you or your friends are threatened. If you aren't going to get into these situations, then unless you have a lot of disposable income, using your weapon for sport or a hobby is not feasible.
I hate being a poorfag, and I hate that I'll never get to use my weapon. I spent an entire paycheck on a Ruger 9E. For what /k/? For what?

Hey /k/, been looking at SIGs (I was in love with the 226 legion) lately, and stumbled upon this beauty. I don't like the safety, or the size of the grips, but everything else is exactly what I want. I love SA/DA and I'm interested in the decocker doubling as the slide stop. Its not a SIG, but its got 99% of what I want for $600 MSRP vs $900 or above for a SIG.
Military Arms Channel did a video torture testing the Rex vs the SIG 226 Legion and found that the SIG failed horribly in comparison to the Rex. Anyone have any experience with the Rex? Seen one? Shot one? Own one?

I want to buy a Rolex, but a friend told me it was dumb because what if someone breaks in/mugs me, etc. It really made me think about how unprepared I am in any case, Rolex or no.
I live in Texas, I never really got into handguns because I live in the city and most people I know don't really shoot very much.
What should I buy around $400-900 to defend my home and person? Should I be spending more/less? I read that a shotgun is the ultimate home defender, but that seems like overkill, plus the ability to get a license to carry with a handgun is cool.
I don't particularly trust salesmen so I don't really want to ask people who make commissions what gun I should be buying.
FYI your sticky kind of sucks.

2.) Go to a gun shop and fingerfuck guns until you find one you like. A good "starter" gun would be a double stack compact 9mm. Glock 19s are very popular and affordable, though there are numerous other options that are similar if you feel like being a hipster about it. H&K VP9, Walther PPQ, CZ has a compact (forget the model name), there's an infographic out there that has a whole list of viable options but I don't have it. Just find something you like, then google it to find out if it's a piece of shit or not.

The answer is: It depends.
If you are building a target rifle, you DO NOT want a chromed barrel. The chrome lining process is not perfect and the result is a less accurate barrel.
If you are building a SHTF rifle, then you DO want one. They are much more resistant to crap conditions and treatment.
