I know this maybe should be in the knife general thread but it's getting close to dead and I've got about a dozen pics to dump.
I don't keep up with knife threads around here, and have never been much of a blade collector. I've got my yardwork, brush and camping tools (axe, hatchet, machete, etc.) and a couple EDC folders, a few fixed blade hunting/fishing/camping knives (general purpose, a skinner and a filet blade) and a couple multitools. Generally found something nice I like, paid well for it and used it for a decade plus. Haven't bought a knife in probably 10 years, aside from my newer Benchmark 484.
My uncle recently passed, left me all his outdoor gear and now I'm up at the farmhouse with his entire gun, knife, hunting/camping gear, etc. collection sorting through things. Cleaning, repairing, oiling, etc. Sipping his good bourbon and remembering camping and hunting trips with him. I know what I'm doing with the firearms, and none of those will be sold (though it'll be a pain in the ass keeping all of them cleaned and cared for on top of my collection).

What I don't know is what I'll do with all his knives. There's not much too spectacularly rare or expensive stuff here, but he did tend to pick up what caught his eye and there are tons of duplicates. I'm going to give away a pretty good chunk of it to younger nieces/nephews and his old friends, etc. But I'm keeping many of the nicest, or most used/best loved ones for myself. I don't want or need the responsibility of keeping 180+ knives oiled, cared for and free of rust, and I need a little help deciding, getting this down to managable levels.
So help me out, please. Point out to me where the hidden gems are. Tell me what the steel snobs would say about some of these steel grades. So forth.
I'm going to photo dump, then feel free to pass on your comments while I look through and post a preliminary keep list. This isn't all of them by any means. Many are duplicated. Some are near duplicates or lower end junk (a lot of those old K-Mart fixed blade Western knives, for instance). The pics are the maybe keep some pile.
Thanks for the help.

Anything you want to get rid of or pass on?
Paypa ready.
>>31319425
Probably keeping these and the other three duplicates in other sizes.

Tell me about this ruskie cartridge /k/
how is it so perfect?
>subsonic
>range and energy enough to be used for snipers
>armor piercing
vodka space magic?
also how is it compared to 300 blk
Nobody here knows any more than you can find off of the internet because nobody on /k/ has ever been in Russian special operations.
>>31319342
No idea OP, but wouldn't it being a subsonic round harm its use at range?
>>31319342
Extensive testing of this top-sekret ruskie round in the cutting-edge warsaw warfare simulator known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gives me the authority to speak about this topic: It drops like a rock.
Idk, it is subsonic and heavy so it is probably alright for short/mid range in specific conditions. Good for use with suppressors. Can't be great for armor pen.

I recently spent a nice weekend at my Grandfather's house & went through some of his old gun catalogs. Would anyone happen to have any .pdfs links or excerpts that they themselves have? Just taking a brief look is like stepping right back into the past.
>>31318962
I only have a few I saved from folks here that have shared.
>>31318973
I always adored the art in all those old catalogs. Almost like a comic book at times for gun nuts.
Hey /k/ just got this 3rd gen glock 19, the slide plate looks like there's excess wear on it.
It doesnt hinder the function of the gun but its bugging me, is the slide mal-fit or is it just a shitth slide plate???
Different angle
Torn between a cz75b and an hk p2000 what do /k/??
>>31318933
Some tard probably tried to take the backplate off with pliers without depressing the striker spring thingy and fucked up the plastic a little.
If you think it's ugly then replace it but it's only cosmetic.
Does anyone here know if I can join the US Navy as an officer after I get out of the Army National Guard?
I'm currently enlisted and have 3 years left on my 6 year contract. I'm a Staff Sergeant/E-6 if that matters.
>>31318656
Kneepad promotion the post
>>31318656
Former USAF here. You need a degree. Get your fucking degree. get your degree.
Make it count. Get it in Homeland, cyber, project management, risk management or something like that. A bullshit degree will not get you a job.
Get a degree, your rank means nothing to the military. good luck.
Do you have a bachelors degree?
No?
go to school you fucking idiot. Fuck, somebody who's an E6 even in the national guard should know that officers need a degree.
Hey /k/
So I just got a Sig P238 and I'm busy trying to switch out the grips, when one of the screws threadings doesn't seem to be connecting with the tool. It's like the threading is worn down and I hadn't even done anything to it.
Has anyone been in this situation? What do you do to remedy it? Do I take it to a gunsmith? I haven't even fired the gun yet. Thanks
>>31318645
Tilt the wrench you're using to connect harshly with the sides of the screw. Then, while still applying pressure, turn the wrench with the tilt and unscrew it. Don't reuse that screw and get a new one.
>>31318719
Yeah no such luck, it just seems to be wiggling around inside of the threads and forcefully coming out of the hole when trying to turn.
If you can't figure it out just take it to a smith. It's a easy fix but if you fuck up your gun trying to fix it it's going to be annoying to repair and deal with afterwards. Hopefully the smith will take pity on you and give you a freebe
What do you think it would be like to actually be in a total war? not this pussy proxy war bullshit, but actual two countries at war?
>>31318535
I don't know because that would mean having to serve the state, which is evil on to itself.

What does /k think about this here?

Lots of parts out there for building up into a semi. Companies like Indianapolis Ordinance make new high quality components for these.
Anyone want to bid on it?
>>31318309
It's going to go for a good bit more than that. Actual MP40 kits aren't easy to find anymore.
Yugo M56 kits are however, if you wanted one of these without spending a fortune.
>>31318309
If it were like half that price, I'd bite. I've always wanted an MP40 and that would be a cool (if ill-advised) project.
>>31318309
OP, i would like to meet you in irl i am a 18 old female virgin can i have your address and your full name and dob?
All I want is a goddamn SVT!

[On phone]
>G36 that hasn't been neutered (where the fuck is that HK243 H&K promised?)
>FAMAS, even in parts kit form,
>Daewoo K2 (been imported, but prebans are rare and post-bans still take some effort to un-neuter)
>Anything Russian that isn't an AK-47/74. I would especially love an A-545 or AK-107
>Howa Type 64 and Type 89 - Japan, stop forcing your nogun ways on everyone else and surplus your damn unicorn rifles with their funny fire selectors.
>>31318228
I got one.
HA HA
What is the best gun
For what.
the one you have ready when you need it
God made man, but Sam Colt made em equal
how do we weaponise cheese
Put it on some kind of trap
You could fit different sized rounds in the holes and then somehow set off the primers. They would shoot in all directions like a bouncing betty but better

How does /k/ prepare for operating inna dessert?
I'm going to be operating inna dessert alone for the first time this weekend. I know it can be fairly dangerous and I was looking for some advice.
What kind of firepower should i bring?
How much food and water should a bring?
What kind of gear will i need?
Are there any safety precautions i should know?
Thanks for your advice /k/. Pic related is the Dessert.

Subdued-color icing.
Good ol Model 1897 whats the difrence between winchester made and nirinco made? And is there anyone else that makes them? If so were can i buy one?
>>31318040
Norinco a shit
Get a real Winny, they're amazing. Inherited my dad's 1897 that he had cut down to a 18.5" BBL, it's the most fun shotgun I've ever shot. I think the gun was made ca. 1928 or so IIRC.
>>31318040
The Norinco clone will be heavier and made from inferior steel, have poor wood quality, and have a crappy extractor and bolt.
So will the new Winchesters, they're imports now.
The originals will be ass-bleachingly expensive and you won't want to fire them, so your best bet at a quality one is a model before the 2000's.
>>31318094
>The originals will be ass-bleachingly expensive
If you want a legit trench gun
If you just want a regular 1897 they're easily sub 1k for a good one.
OP, trust me, you'll be happy with a plain jane 1897, it's still buckets o fun to shoot. If you really want a tried and true legit trench gun then good luck, break out the pocket book.
