So then, do you become a 5.7mm fan overnight? Do you rush to get a Five-seveN pistol?

It's obvious why 5.7mm is a great cartridge, in fact it was literally purposefully designed to outmatch 9mm, and in fact NATO WANTED to replace 9mm with 5.7 but were stonewalled by Germany due to being assmad over HK loosing with their offering.

So of the Army chooses 5.7mm as their new service caliber, is /k/ going to reverse their years and years of "meme caliber" shitposting and get on board with the best handgun cartridge ever designed?

no, because the only benefit to the round will be banned for use by civilians which only the military/leo will have access to right?
>>
>>31561345
Well 5.7 mostly gets shit on due to civilians not being able to get the "amour piercing" ammunition

Well /K/ im finally dropping dosh for a AR and after discussing with the clerk who was actually quite nice and informative. we discussed the DMPS panther oracle, a variant of the S&W M&P rifles and lastly a Rock River Arms Operator.
The DMPS and S&W ranged from 650-700$ while the RRA Costs 950$ at my LGS. The clerk and two other employees stood by the RRA saying it had no problems running any type of ammo unlike the DMPS and it had some better features that I favored compared to the S&W.

So if you dont mind me asking /k/ is it worth it to get the RRA operator? Pic related, this is the Upper that was on the rifle. will include pic of store tag next post.

P.S ive always been a milsup guy so im trying to educate myself on the whole platform in general

Good evening /k/
I am currently staying in a travel trailer while I build a cabin. I am slightly concerned about keeping cash in there because of the slight risk of a fire. I am not against banks or anything, but I like to keep some money close buy. Because paper and fire go so well together I would like to buy some silver or as recommended that I invest in guns. The money I have is for backup funds, so I would like it to be something that I could easily turn back for cash if I need to buy something down the road.
So I am thinking of a couple of options.
1. Buy a bunch of silver coins/bars
2. Buy a few guns
3. Just put the money in an ammo can and put it under the sink

If #2, what would be the guns of choice for best holding value and possibly turning into a profit down the road?
The only thing that really makes me hesitant on investing in guns is that buying new it pretty much drops in value right away. Also it can get ruined buy a fire.

Your thoughts please.

Or just a general prepper thread

Silver is not a currency. It is not an investment. It is a hedge. I recommend #3, unless you're worried about wandering meth heads. Then you may have to get crafty.

At this point in our history, any modern functional longarm with good glass on it is a good lifetime investment. After Sandy Vagina a I gave the matter much deep thought and now place all my faith in .223, 30-06, and 12 gauge. Any decent firearm in any of those three, with Burris glass on top if it's a rifle, and at least 200 cartridges each.

Okay so a couple days ago a shooting happened near my college, in an area that is kind of a party/safe zone. One guy died and four were injured here's an article regarding the event- http://amp.usatoday.com/story/91075758/?client=safari
I live near the area and hear the police response and so I was asked the following questions.
>1. Had you ever felt unsafe in Champaign before the shooting on Green?
>2. what was your reaction to the shooting? Did it change your answer to (1)?
>3. Champaign’s violent crime rate was 1.83x the national average in 2015. What do you have to say after hearing this?
>5. Do you think Champaign is a safe place to raise a family?

Help me give some good answers that support gun rights. Not too crazy or racist though since I know the reporter and they will publish my name.

I'm thinking of saying some meme thing like I am ordering an 80%lower receiver and making my own untraceable gun in response to the threat.
>>
>1. Had you ever felt unsafe in Champaign before the shooting on Green?
Yes. I had my car broken into and there were condoms left in the back seat. There appeared to be some sort of brown, salty substance left behind.
>2. what was your reaction to the shooting? Did it change your answer to (1)?
It wasn't surprising to me at all. I thought that if someone could do that to my car then the logical next step is to do something like that.
>3. Champaign’s violent crime rate was 1.83x the national average in 2015. What do you have to say after hearing this?
No worse than Champaign's.
>5. Do you think Champaign is a safe place to raise a family?
I don't understand the question

You can pick one gun from this list and save it from destruction; what do you choose?

SACM Pistol, S/N 2622A.

That is likely a pre WW2 piece.

Is it better to wear a chest rig over a plate carrier or use mag pouches on the plate carrier?

>pouches on plate carrier
>AND chest rig
Why the fucking fuck would you do that?
>>
>>31560849

There's a reason that modern plate carriers are almost always covered in PALS webbing. Why throw on two pieces of equipment when one can easily carry both armor and your equipment/ammo?
>>
>>31560849
i did both. the vest i wore over the IOTV was something i could ditch if it caught on something or if i needed to ditch it. i wore a pistol and some mags and a utility pouch on my belt. vest itself didn't really have anything on it unless you counted threaded pens/camelbak and shit.

Anything that says 'magnum' will cost $1 or $2 a shot, beat the fuck out of your shoulder, and will soon be sitting in a hock shop or fun store on consignment with all the others.

Burris glass is made in America, guaranteed for the life of the scope, and can be had for under $200 at Opticsplanet.

And that's the way it is.

anyone have experience with CCI quiet .22? I'm curious if it would be so quiet I could let a round off inside or if that's pushing it. I don't think I'll do it because I'm in a condo with neighbors plus the gasses, but I was wondering if they would be able to tell.

>>

What I mean is hypothetically making a shotgun that could feasibly take a full 3 1/2 case of powder with a jacketed slug that happens to be compatible with a similarly over built rifled choke tube.

Like a modern big bore rifle but with paradox rifling.
