First some background info, I used to live in Kingman, AZ, a small desert town in NW AZ that's like a crossroads between Vegas, Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, SoCal and Laughlin. Small town but many types pass thru and some get stuck.
There is a "range" in the hills and washes just south of town. The locals call it Black Bridge, not really a range, just a place in the desert where people goof off and shoot stuff. It's accessed by one of several unmaintained dirt roads, but usually by the Old Tails turnoff (that's the original route 66). I usually would make weekly treks down there and always had at least a pistol for carry since you run into the occasional stray dog, or shady two legged desert dweller...

So there are lots of tweakers, weirdos and misfits in this town. Many homeless people for the size of the area.
There was one old lady in particular who stuck out to me. Gray hair, maybe 60- not social, and I'd see her walking everywhere around town, but also out in the desert, or black bridge area. What made her stick out to me, is EVERY time I passed by her, usually from a distance while I'm alone she would turn her head and slow her pace. I always just kept walking, but every time I would look over my shoulder she was stopped and having a conversation with an imaginary person while pointing me out, and it didn't look like a very happy conversation she was having with herself, but it was obviously about me. I never saw her or heard of her do this with anybody else..
So one overcast day with a slight sprinkle I head down to Black Bridge to introduce my new Sig SP2022 (9mm) to the AZ desert..

Some will work with you. My general rule is, if it costs about the same (within $50) of what I'd pay after shipping, transfer, and possibly CC fees, then I'll support a local business. If it's still significantly cheaper online I'll ask "hey, this is a lot cheaper online. You wanna try and come down a bit?" And sometimes they will. Otherwise though, I have a dealer who does transfers for $15. I have no problem going to him if a local shop is too overpriced.

Ok I think some of you guys on here need a bit of a reality check when it comes to a SHTF situation.

Unless you already have a dedicated, running, functional bug out location with clean source of water and food beyond "muh huntin" you are going to die.

Not much of a way to rebuild society if you are alone. You will most likely die.
Face it the only real way to survive a SHTF situation is by doing a few simple things.

/k/- I fucked up my wasr barrel trying to dremel a muzzle nut off. I'm about to get it cut down and pinned/welded with a new muzzle device.
If you could only have one muzzle brake/hider/comp what would you use?
Things to keep in mind:
- bolton gas block
- need to be able to clean the crown or inside of the device in case of corrosive ammo
- practicality: this is a general purpose rifle
- overall barrel length + muzzle device must be over 16"

any archers here? looking to get into the sport.

Should I pay for archery lessons? all the ones in my area seem to be for little kids

The US and Russia both have about 1000 active warheads each. China is good for maybe 300.
On the other side, Britain, France, India, Israel, and Pakistan are all in the 200-300 warhead range.
In conclusion, a lot of people are going to get fucked up.
The US, Russian Federation, and PRC have a majority of the world's ICBMs and nuclear submarines between them, so they should eventually win.

Recently picked up pic related for about $750. Anyone here have experience as to what mags work well? National magazine has some options for inexpensive, but I've heard mixed things about those.
I bought two of the Taiwanese T57 mags off of Keep Shooting. Anyone know which mags are good value for the money? Trying to stay away from Springfield's $60 a mag.

There is absloutly nothing wrong with PSA lowers. The uppers aren't the best in the world but I own two and don't mind either. If I'm making a budget AR for someone, PSA is my go-to.
