Violence should be appropriate for the situation. There are situations where physical contact is justified but lethal force would not be.

The ideal should be that citizens following the social contract for their society should not have to resort to violence for any situation but this isn't a world of ideals.

I wouldn't. I spent a lot of time thinking about things like this so that I would have a very clear line on whether I should respond with violence at any point.

It may seem like pussy arguing to some people but the advantage is that I'm not going to feel guilty if I ever have to use violence because I knew I made an educated decision, even if it was on reflex.
