I use a German 9mm luger. Pretty reliable and has ammo that is easily accessible. Works pretty good so far

Why would you ever use anything remotely irreplaceable for self defense? It's good as gone if you ever actually use it.

Use literally anything modern and mass-produced that is cheap enough that you won't miss it if the police take it for evidence and let it rust into dust.

>Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the defendant, who, as subpoena of his internet service provider reveals, browses notorious white supremacist forum FourChan, imagines himself as a reincarnation of the fuhrer, a new self appointed messiah to invoke a new campaign of ethnic cleansing. He collects expensive memorabilia like this rare NAZI pistol. This very pistol he used to cut down young Jamal Quiandrius, in the prime of his youth, on his way back from school to help take care of his kindly old grandmother.

Hey /k/, first time poster here.

What are you views on the differences between the US Army squad layout which I believe consists of 1 SL + 2 Fireteams of 4 and the UK Army section which consists of just 2 fireteams of 4 which 1 fireteam leader doubling up as SL.

Personally I think the UK Section is more efficient. Sure it is one less man, but thats surely a good thing logistically is it not? Not to mention shortening communication and having to relay less orders etc.
31 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>31620633
According to US doctrine (as I was taught at least) it's worse because now your squad leader has to take care of both the squad as a whole and his own personal fire team.
>>
>>31620674

But surely his 2IC, Delta leader would be capable of looking after his own fireteam, he'd only have to relay orders to him and then lead the first fireteam?
>>
>>31620633

I just had this conversation on another thread. USMC Infantry with 3 fire teams. A total of 12 men plus SL and maybe docs rolling with, 13-14 men.

I've also done a low man squad of only 8, and teams of 5 in LPOP's. It all depends.

I was surprised to hear the Army only does 2 fire team 8 man squads. Do they have 4 squads per platoon?

USS Nimitz just came out of it's maintenance period and is going out for sea trials.

>"Teams from Combat Systems Department removed, refurbished and reinstalled over 150 antennas, saving over $3 million in contractor costs," said Cmdr. David Gast, Nimitz combat systems officer and native of Miami. "We've updated every element of the ship's satellite communication, and information processing suites were upgraded or replaced."

>Combat systems also completely modernized the ship's Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) capability with numerous upgrades. The ship's integrated network was updated to the new Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services (CANES) system.

>"It provides a more secure and robust system for the 21st century," said Yates. "This brings us on par with the most advanced IT systems comparable to the civilian world."

>During the EPIA, modifications were made to the ship's defenses, adding two MK-38 anti-ship guns and a anti-torpedo defense system.

>A rebuild of the ship's second service turbine generator was completed, as well as a complete overhaul of all four distilling units creating fresh water for the ship.

>The interior of the ship wasn't the only focus of the makeover. Over 100,000 square feet of flight deck non-skid was removed, and the ship performed major repairs to the jet blast deflectors and ship structure.

Considering the time frame, this is most likely roughly the configuration the Nimitz will be retired as.

Nice in-port and swarm option, I guess. I'm more interested in that Anti-Torpedo Torpedo system. I didn't think the CVNs were going to start getting operational versions of that before 2018. Nice to hear they're already fitting them.

I like it though, very low recoil and good trigger.

Given how the AR is simultaneously the most combat effective weapons platform as well as the most cost effective, is there any reason any other weapon designs should be on the market? Would it be possible to pass a law stipulating that only AR-platform rifles and pistols may be sold, while prohibiting the manufacture/sale of other inferior designs?

Cons

> No non-goofball AR that shoot shotgun shells
> No ARs that shoot long action calibers
> No ARs that shoot straight wall cartridges
> Concealed carry permit holders have to somehow conceal an AR pistol

Pros

> SCAR/PTR/M1A owners hunt OP down and draw and quarter him on the spot.

Where do I sign, OP
>>

The AR is a fantastic weapon, but for long term viability, I would rather have an SKS. I am not a "prepper" per se, but I am good with my hands and can do some metalworking. You could scrounge together scrap parts to repair an AK in a pinch - hell the Pakistani gunsmiths have taken hand crafted weapons to an art form.

I somehow doubt that you could easily do the same for an AR. It's the nature of the weapon - an AR is the product of modern tech. I am not confident in our ability to match tolerances as closely as you would need.

Also generally bolt actions are inherently more accurate than semi-autos (except for Mosin, but Mosin is still good rifle) Pic related, this is the same setup I have on my Swedish Mauser, which shoots about .75 MOA when I do my part and can reach out a good deal further with a lot more punch than the AR platform, even against other rounds like 6.5 Grendel.

TL;DR This is either bait or you are the worst AR fanboy I've ever met.

Alright, recently got a couple new rifles. Kinda regret not going to range today. I was supposed to have game day today but we still haven't started yet. Was supposed to start at 4, now it's almost dark and there is no where to shoot after dark.

I am slightly worried about school because I completely fucked up two homework assignments. Also worried about a test I recently took because apparently the day I missed that class we covered something important that was on said midterm test.

Recommend me a bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39.

I have a ton of surplus ammo and the SKS is fun and all, but I'd like to put a scope on something.

I know of the CZ 527 ($$$$) and the Zastava M85 (garbage).

Are there any other options you recommend?
