Hey /k/, I was just thinking...
In the case of a zombie apocalypse, why not just use a steam/non electrical train?
You see, with trains supply lines can be restarted and thus the first forms of a sort of economy. Being the sole distributor, you could easily get a nice cut out of the total batch of trade, adding to the fact you could get a small reward for the movement of people as well.
Trains are not static and thus less prone to being overrun by a horde of zombies.
Furthermore, trains can distract hordes of zombies away from more secure outposts and be used as a trap for hordes by luring them on the tracks and then plowing through them.
Last but not least, trains can be fortified to survive attacks from survivors, providing the train is on the move. A train would be a moving fortress that houses supplies, people and fighters.
The only problem would be humans being dicks and blowing up the tracks, but overall that would be a small chance considering the fact that humans have to survive zombies more than other people.
tl;dr trains are awesome in a zombie apocalypse, right?

Meh, you can't run a railroad without long distance communication.
It's also pretty easy for an even halfway determined person to derail a train.
On going maintenance and operations are also resource intense.

So I'm gonna be piecing together two Kalashnikovs soon for me and my wife out of two 80% lowers. I have the capability to heat treat them at my work. I'm considering the 5.45 for a number of reasons. Any of you have experience with what this little yaw friendly guy can do? Or should I just build 47's?

I need some help. I've narrowed my mind down to two platforms (either 1911 or AR15) I would like to get but I only have the budget for one. I would like some input on which to get. Here are my requirements and some notes:
>would like something highly modular and customizable and easy to maintain and upgrade myself
>keep the initial platform under $1000 (the cheaper the better)
>would like something useful for a SHTF scenario
>relatively cheap ammo
>powerful, fun to take a range
>I have my concealed carry permit (state of NC)
Also, for reference, my current arsenal consists of Glock 43, SKS, Rem 870, Mossberg Silver Reserve, and Savage .22 LR.
Which should I get, and why?

Why does /k/ and gun enthusiasts in general get all up in arms and butthurt about Waco? I am a gun enthusiast myself, but I don't see how shooting at ATF and FBI agents is justified, especially for a religious organization.
Why didn't the Davidians just submit to the ATF and let them search the compound? Could have saved a lot of hassle and death.
Do people really believe that shooting at uniformed federal agents is justified? Isn't it for the courts to decide the circumstances, not you right there in the moment?

Could assault guns make a comeback in the battlefield?
Looking at the fighting in Syria, you had lots of incidences where cunts used direct firing artillery mounted on trucks to attack enemy positions.
Seems to me that assault guns would do well in urban environments as opposed to meme tanks. Which take up a lot of freaking space not to mention spend most of the time with their turrets pointed up front.

Tanks are for long range shelling; what you will see in urban environments is armored cars/humvees/etc with microwave guns and sonic cannons. How well assault guns perform against that will be answered during our next civil war. It's the future, baby...

5.56 for sure. Remember, 7.62 is a war caliber, where you are fighting in a squad and can be resupplied.
If you are a minuteman, you can only count on what you can carry, or have with you. You will have no humvee to carry your extra gear, nor will anyone be coming to resupply your heavy ass ammo.
