Would fudd guns make good weapons of war? Would a division of American hunters make good snipers in the event of a war on American soil?
>>31836731
95% of hunters have never attempted to hit a target outside of 100 yd, so it depends on the conflict.
Urban setting? It would be a problem for soldiers, especially considering most large hunting calibers will penetrate everything but level 4 armor
Dense woods? Problem for soldiers considering short engagement distances
Open areas with engagement distances beyond 100 yd? Soldiers efficiently exterminate the insurgents with suppressive fire and air/arty support
So basically the same thing that happens overseas
>>31836769
This desu senpai
Also note that fudd rifles would not be superior in any respect at those engagement distances to spoopy black assault carbines with scopes other than firing stiffer rounds.
>>31836731
>Would fudd guns make good weapons of war?
yes
>Would a division of American hunters make good snipers in the event of a war on American soil?
No
This is the SKS of pistols.
Easy to disassemble.
Can use necked down 5.56 brass.
RUSSIAN Conscripts couldn't break them.
Less than an inch wide.
Gets up to 1800 fps with surplus steel core.
Cheap as borscht.
Why isn't this your innawoods pea shooter?
Am I missing some?
>>31836461
Because I can afford a Glock 17
im noguns whats this?
>>31836508
TT -33 Russian copy of an early John Browning pistol. Ten million made.
Its surplus ammo will go through level three armor because it was steel core. Its insides come out in one piece so its simple to clean. Its dam near perfect
And why I wound up with Winchester autocomp being used for my Webley Mk VI.
So. I wound up searching all over town today for my first attempt at reloading (I have dies and a press already) and wound up getting CCI primers, Hornsby 230 grain lead bullets, and the only powder I could get my mitts on was Winchester autocomp.
I've been loading it with about 5.0-5.7 grains of the stuff.
I did about 18 rounds and then I realized I might want to look around for advice (you know, like a fucktard who does shit and THEN asks for advice on how not to kill himself)
Pic not related.
>>31836364
Do you just not like having fingers?
You're likely into proof load pressures and with that much variation it's impossible to be safe.
New to reloading, and I'm starting out with my AR since I shoot it the most.
I've been catching all my Hornady brass, which is all .223. My bullets are 65gr Sierra game kings. I have yet to find a Sierra load online that uses their bullets with CFE223 powder, but my Hornady manual covers 60gr and 68gr in 5.56. Is it (reasonably) safe to start ladder testing from the Hornady 60gr and work my way up from there?
Also, regarding accuracy testing, is it better to control for a standard low powder load while varying COL first, or do you keep COL the same and vary powder loads first?
>>31836364
Is this the .38/200 Webley or the .455 Webley? Because Autocomp tends to be for larger caliber/magnum level cartridges. Or am I underestimating how stupid your decisions have been thus far?
I'm pretty new to shooting. One thing I've noticed is that with more narrow, steel frame handguns like the 1911, the recoil tends to go straight back into your hand, whereas glocks and polymer handguns I've fired tend to bounce, and go side to side a bit. I shoot better with the former, as I feel I can maintain a better sight picture while and after it recoils, and the .45 doesn't have that much more of a kick than the 9mm, although 9mm out of a steel frame is where I shoot the best.
Is this a thing that other people experience or is this just the fact that I suck?
Either way I'm very comfortable and decently accurate with my Browning Hi Power.
I just want to know if anyone else experiences this, because I eventually plan on getting a polymer 9mm for my carry piece.
pic somewhat related
You're not alone. The steel frame is why I like the cz 75.
Its difficult to describe, but on a completely polymer pistol, you feel a warping.
Polymer is a meme for anything other than carry guns. Polymer fags need to get the fuck out and realize the mass of a steel frame helps attenuate recoil in service pistols.
>>31836043
this isnt a polymer vs steel frame thing
this is a how well the gun fits your hand thing
your hands are too small for a doublestack or your grip isnt consistent so you get side to side movement since you have to readjust after each shot

/k/ what are your opinions on the 1911? Preferably the Desert Eagle 1911 G if you have experience with it.

>>31835666
WELL! I honestly didn't know this was a thing... Magnum Research M1911s. Huh. Well I love the M1911 design, and I thank OP for bringing this to my attention. The more M1911s the merrier!
>>31835666
I own one and love it. I wouldn't carry anything else.
>>31836035
Better watch out, friendo. According to some around these parts, you're carrying what's essentially the equivalent of a flintlock pistol. Be careful with your 'outdated' hardware.
>be me
>be drooling over new Trijicon MRO
>save up enough money for it
>call around
>go with best deal LGS can give me
>Go to store
>they order it
>say it will be a week before it arrives
>going on two weeks now and no word
>thats what i get for trying to support my LGS
Shoulda bought online....
Have you tried calling to se if its come in?
>>31835667
Ive called twice but they just have some old fart who could care less tell me its not in yet.
>>31835731
>shopping at a gun store with old people
Found your problem. Who the fuck did they order it from? Almost all distributors ship stuff <3 Day for free, sans ammo. Did you prepay for it?
>his handgun doesn't have an integrated compensator
>his handgun isn't a sightracker
>his handgun isn't finished in DLC(that's Diamond Like Carbon, the hardest finish you can get)
Lol, poorfags.
Why do you need a compensator?
The factory Glock finish is already super hard and rust resistant, and you'd get to keep it if you didn't spend $2000 getting a bunch of useless bullshit work done to your innocent Glock.
Seriously I've thought about getting my Glock cerakoted before, but when I found out they had to bead blast the factory finish off before doing cerakote, I changed my mind, because I'd rather just have the factory Glock finish.
I checked the catalog, didn't see an inexpensive weapon thread. Not talking about $500 ARs or SKS, I know about them. Nuggets too. I want a CC pistol, not a revolver. Preferably under $300. Don't care if it's 9mm. Just want something to carry. Fuck my shit up.
Also, post SCARs. They make my dick hard.
>>31835576
Just a thought. Also check the sticky
>>31835576
Try the turkshit like Sarlsimaz or Tristar. Excellent firearms, except their govt may may give money to ISIS.
>>31835603
>>31835670
Thanks. I did check the sticky, just forgot to mention it.
Why did the rooksies use this for so long? Seriously, they adopted it in 1951 and used it till 2003! It's a straight blowback gun that fires a (more or less proprietary) cartridge on par with .380. Russia was making great strides everywhere else in small arms so why did they stick with this? Yeah, it's a decent carry pistol, but I would rather have a 1911 or Glock 17 if I had to put down a pissed-off Afghan who charging at me with a knife. Someone please explain.
I don't think you understand the soviet and former soviet train of thought for production.
>does it work
>then don't change it
>and we'll produce them out the ass like we always have
>>31835545
Cheap. Simple. Reliable.
It was also "good enough" for its intended role.
>>31835545
Two Makarovs I had a chance to inspect at LGS had the shittiest pull I've ever seen on a gun (too long, way too stiff, not quite gritty but struggling). Was it just my luck, or all of them are like that?
Why don't I hear about these anymore??
What happened
Stopped buildin em. They're gonna make a new one soon.
>>31835497
Sure....
I'm still waiting on much Comanche attack heli
RIP
Well. A TBM is more important than a pseudo stealth Hind 2.0
Ok, we ALL know that guns absolutely dominate in home defense, and we know crossbows would be quite shit for home defense. But would the Chinese repeating crossbow be good for home defense if one couldn't get a gun? It can be made at home, and ammo choices can even go down to pencils, and using shite ammo is not dangerous as there is a barrel for arrows like a slurbow. Loading and shooting is easy af, you literally just jam shit in then start cocking it back and forth, and it is super easy to span and fire. Tell me why, if you don't have a gun, you shouldn't use this
>pro tip: you can't
>forced to shoot from hip
>probably illegal as fuck to poison the bolts for killing people like the Chinese did
>maintenance-intensive compared to a bludgeon or spear
>>31835470
>forced to shoot from hip
You have multiple arrows
>illegal as fuck to poison the bolts
Why do you need to do that?
>maintainence-intensive
They're extremely easy to make. You're not in a war, you're in a home protection situation.
>>31835383
The action is fragile as fuck and last I checked the draw isn't that great. It's worse than a 30 lbs bow (aka kiddie bow)
You might get a lucky hit in the eyes and whatnot but if the attackers wear heavy clothing (or just being fat), I'd imagine it would be useless
ITT WEIRD GUNS
hey im looking for pictures of odd guns.
wheel gat shotty
Why do people defend detachable magazines? They suck dick, here's why:
>easily lost
>weigh more than stripper clips
>finicky, most can't be inserted on a closed bolt
>easier to damage than a fixed magazine
>wear out faster and aren't built to last
It would be better if we continued to used fixed magazines, you can easily reload most assault rifles with a fixed magazine like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AagWnQlaEaQ The only time detachable magazines are relevant is to assist in cleaning the gun.
>>31835158
I see you just came back from the sporting goods store with some fresh bait.
>>31835158
Nice try, California
>>31835158
An original idea, but the execution is lacking and lazily done. Needs significant improvement.
4/10.
What's is /k/'s opinion on PSL's with a shorter than 20" barrel like pic related? Anyone have any experience or know anything about them?
People don't talk about PSL/SVD on this board enough so let's get this going.
>>31834795
No experience with the para models but I love love love my full size PSL. Shot this 5rd group the other day.
>>31834795
A vepr with a 16-20 inch barrel is better in every way except mag capacity
Flimsy barrel is flimsy.
Also, due to the twist rate only certain types of ammo can be used.
I love the look, but it's just not worth the money.
