Yep, I prefer it. It's nice not having to worry about banging them up when shooting actively, and if your gun gets warm, as most do, they are also nice for that reason. Been using pic related, although I may switch once it gets colder.

Has the f-35 been the biggest waste of money in human history? The whole program so far has cost as much as the Iraq war did and it'll probably end up costing more.

My stepfather passed away a few years back and this revolver ended up being left with my mother who has since given it to me. I know its a Smith and Wesson 586 but i dont know much more about it.
Its pretty dirty and i know its been that way for a while, none of the carbon will even come off on my hand anymore so im wondering if it soaked into the plating somehow? Can i use solvents on the nickel plating? What can you guys tell me about this thing?

Can someone redpill me on this round? Is it a good all-around alternative to .308win in an AR-10 platform? I know the big tradeoff is bullet weight and barrel wear, but does the round still hold enough energy to penetrate barriers at distance like a 308? Does it still have the lethal range like a 308 for hunting?

If you know how to shoot its perfectly fine. There are guys that use 6.5 creedmore and 260 rem on game out past 800 yards successfully.
>>
>>31919446
What purpose do you want it for? 6.5 mm bullets were used in every major war of the early 20th century, so it would be fine for killing people, if that's what you want it for. If you want it for hunting, I would go with 308 just for better ammo selection, but 6.5 Creedmoor is certainly powerful enough for just about anything short of African dangerous game.

It's been less than a month since I bought my first gun and I just walked out the door of my local range with a glock 19. I was there to try out some potential carry pieces. I decided to start with the 19. I've tried glocks before (17, 34, 43) and hated them, but this one seemed to fit right in my hand. After getting used to the trigger I was shooting groupings that were just as good as my Hi Power (which fits like a glove)

150 rounds later I returned it and I saw that they had them there for $529. I haven't seen them online cheaper than that (when you factor in shipping and FFL costs that is) so I just said fuck it. I went with the Gen 3 because it's cheaper and I just didn't like the grips on the Gen 4 at all.

1.Did I do good? some people hate the Gen 3 and call it a glocknade or whatever but I assume that's an exaggeration, just like people told me the Hi Power trigger is impossible with the mag release but I got used to it pretty quickly. I've also heard some people don't like the mag release but I have big hands so it doesn't bother me

2.It squeaks when I rack the slide. Should I be concerned about that? is there any way to stop it. It's a brand new glock so I assume this is normal and will subside with a quick lube and a break in period, but I just want to be sure.

3.Speaking of lube, how much am I supposed to lube this thing? I've heard of "over-lubrication" on these things. Should I fire some rounds through it before I lube it up, or give it a once over first?

Anyway this thing is comfy as fuck. Never thought I'd use the words "Glock" and "Comfy" in the same sentence, but there it is. R.I.P. my bank account

Congrats on purchasing the greatest all around handgun ever made. It won't blow up in your hand, shoot factory loads or load your own. You can modify the trigger pull Yourself with a spring kit and YouTube videos, it's relatively easy. The squeak is normal with new Glocks, it'll go away over time. You barely need to lube it, if at all it's up to you. If you do just drop a dot on each side of the slide where it meets the frame, and rub it down the towards the barrel. Have fun
>>
>>31919194
Coming from a browning Hi Power the trigger aint that bad. Come to think of it that was a great starter gun for me. I was able to move from barely being able to hit a 12 inch target to working on trying to hit inside the red bullseye within 3 trips to the range.
>>
>>31919227
The real issue besides the trigger with factory Glocks are the sights. The factory sights are God awful, I'd recommend getting some new ones, maybe some trijicons of you're gonna carry it. The factory sights are too obtrusive, and cover too much of your target area, making tighter groups harder to come by

Who would win in a fight, Cain Velasquez or a green beret?

Cain Velasquez. A green beret would be able to fuck over 90% of the population, but you must remember that pros spend their entire life doing nothing but training in hand to hand combat, green berets are trained to do 90 other things.

If a green beret could take out a professional MMA fighter like Cain, he wouldn't be in the military. He would be in the UFC making money.

Why do people hate on 7.62x39 so much while praising the .45 acp for its "stopping power"?
I've been thinking about doing a 7.62 build but everyone i know is saying its a piece of shit round to invest in.
i know ones a pistol caliber and another is a rifle, but arent they in a similar situation right now?
>both are fairly heavy hitting for the guns they're chambered in
>phased out by lighter more efficient cartridges (for most parts)
>both have greater penetration power compared to their competitors but harder to control and weigh more
is 7.62 just that much worse because it's in the rifle realm or is it just a bloated muh americanism behind the .45 acp?
im relatively new to firearms so im sorry if i sound retarded.

I think it's a Russian hate thing. I've loved my SKS to death since I've bought it.
>>
I dunno. I look love the 7.6x39 cartridge. Maybe the hate comes from hating something that isn't American? The 7.62x39 does a lot of things well enough. Intermediate cartridges rock.
>>
If anyone was looking, Dick's had boxes of 100 rounds for $30 yesterday. Don't know if they are still that cheap. Funny story, I bought one and a box of 50 9mm, the upstanding african american that checked me out (who was NOT high, you can be assured of that) scanned in the 9mm first, then while the "check ID" error message popped up, scanned the 7.62, but of course it didn't scan, since the register was waiting for age verification. My total was $13.

I'm looking for a pocket pistol in either 9mm kurz or 9mm luger. Steel or alloy frame. Do /k/ have recommendations?

Pic related although it's a bit too big.
29 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
The smallest pocket 9x19 I know of is one of the Kahrs. It's polymer, you simply won't find a metal frame in a suitable size/weight for pocket carry.

You could also consider a 9mm or .38 (not .380) revolver. They're going to be about the size of a single stack conceal carry 9 though.

The gun you posted has a sharp beavertail and exposed hammer. Not good for pocket or waist carry, but a cool gun nonetheless. I used to want one when I first started looking into CC, but I realized polymer is infinitely superior for this role.

If you do manage to find a .380 that's metal it might be small and light enough. Make sure you use copper cross-tip rounds like the Underwood and Lehigh xtreme penetrators. They make a .380 into sort of a low powered 9mm.
>>
>it's a bit too big

Then what could possibly be the reason why you would want a heavy 'pocket' pistol?

What should I buy /k/? In terms of ammo availabilty and price, I know 7.62x54 is cheaper... But which is funner/more pleasant to shoot? Would you suggest a regular 91/30 or m39? Same with mauser K98 variant, Yugo M48, or ww1 era mauser?

>>
>>31918775

A nugget is only a good option if you're too poor to afford something else. It is neither particularly fun or pleasant to shoot. I personally would recommend a K98 variant--especially an Israeli 7.62 NATO version if you can find one for a reasonable price.
>>
>>31918775
If you reload, go 8mm. A lot more loading options and round types available. Also some brass case ammo brands are reloadable

I'd like to have an ideas thread on the subject of legal improvised weapons.

I'm particularly interested in finding a good, legal alternative to brass knuckles.

Can anyone recommend any specific carabiners that are more or less hand-shaped?

Maybe extra heavy-duty ones that are made for winches or for maritime purposes?

But I'd like to hear people's ideas for good, under-the-radar improvised weapons in general, whatever they may be.
