Just imagine the CNN headlines if Russians did the same standard procedure with one of the US planes flying somewhere over Siberia.

So how come the Wests naval doctrine prioritises swarms of small, slow missiles (Harpoons) instead of a couple huge supersonic sea skimming ones?
Are antiship missiles not seen as important?
85 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>32043058
Since Western naval power is typically focused around air power and carrier air wings, it's more economical to build antiship missiles those planes can carry. You can also build and mount more of those missiles, for better target saturation.

The Russians built giant supersonic missiles because they wanted something to knock out a carrier in one hit. But the issue is the missiles are so large that only a few platforms can carry them and you can't carry as many, so it's harder to saturate your target.
>>
>>32043058

The ships that carry yuge missiles are giant bullseyes for planes carrying smaller ones.

Also, I believe the harpoon is sea skimming, correct me if I'm wrong.
>>
>>32043058
Because Russians and Chinese are going to run out of missiles intercepting those small and slow subsonic missiles than the reverse.

/k/ I think I fucked up.

About two hours ago I decided to have a rum flip Blackbeard style, with a spoon of gunpowder in it. I immediately began feeling hot and sweaty and I've been more flatulent than I have in years.

Should I go to the doctor?

specify used powder
>>
I don't think blackbeard used smokeless powder

also, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown-brown

Smokeless powder often contains nitroglycerin, a drug prescribed for heart conditions, which most likely causes vasodilation, permitting the cocaine to move more freely through the body.
>>
>>32059299
Do a flaming shot. It will burn off the powder.

Syrian invent new reactive armor?
pic is from SAA 4th armor division in Khan al-Shih, west Ghouta.

Seen like the tank stop 2 PG-7V warhead, and possibly a third one.
the war head did not explode so the add on armor should be some kind of new stand off reactive armor or the tank is equipped with some kind of energy field in the front.

let discuss

What is the point of using a $20 mil Super Tucan'tno over a $16 mil Reaper?
Other than possibly getting your pilots killed of course.

>you need a multinational series of ground stations and a satellite network to use Reapers?
Fuck. I thought my govt (Singapore) could buy attack UAVs. Feelsbadman.
>>
Well, the USA doesn't operate the Super Tucano, so you're right that in that way the USA agrees with you, but I'll just mention some possible reasons. Also, where are the relative costs from? google gives the Super Tucano as around $15 million.

Technology and expertise transfer, the USA may not be willing to give every country access to their primary UCAV, or the ability to operate it fully independently of the USA. Embraer & Brazil does not have these concerns.

The Super Tucano does not require sophisticated communication infrastructure to use for ground support. Besides the pilots needing to stay in contact with it, the coordination required for troops on the ground to direct CAS isn't as simple as with a manned aircraft.

The Super Tucano can intercept light aircraft. In South America, it is regularly used to force down drug smugglers light aircraft. Something the slower unmanned MQ-9 cannot do.

Historically speaking, did scabbards cover the point of the blade or not?

It seems like it would be a really dumb idea not to cover it, but some anon claimed that covering the point increases wear and tear on the blade when you draw it.
25 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
Yes, they did. Imagine marching, camping, fighting, climbing, living, etc. In the rain mud, sun, sand, forest, etc. With a chunk of pointy metal poking out a good 2 feet from your waist. Its a danger, and it would ruin the blade a heck of a lot more than drawing it. Anon is dumb
>>
They covered the blade. The weapon is retained in the scabbard by the hilt. Drawing it correctly would not wear it out as much as you would think.

Anderson lower
PSA everything else

It's currently grouping ~1.5~Moa at 100yds with Norma Tac 223, I have not fed it anything better or more expensive.

The trigger sucked a bag of dicks until I took the 2000 grit paper to it.

Local lower for $50 and a PSA daily deal blemished build kit with free shipping is the best option you have.

With the easily-overheatable handguard and assblastingly fast fire rate?
No.
With a lowered fire-rate, better handguard and, if you're a pansy faggot, detachable carry handle?
Possibly.
It's more likely the most 'effective' rifle ever made, with its extreme light weight and decently good ergonomics (fuck the charging handle oh my god) even though it shoots a varmint round. It's definitely usable for a stopgap that filled the gap it was merely meant to temporarily stop.

Only two guns I own at the time? Dream gun is a Kimber 1911 .45
>> Taurus 85 .38 Special 4 Inch Barrel
>> Sig Sauer 1911 .22 Camo with one magazine

What is the relative worth of these guns to a gun trader and should I just hang onto them or use them as a trading tool towards a 1911? Also what is best 1911 for the money, calibered in .45 ACP? I mainly just target shoot but want also want to keep it for home defense.

*from the description*

This is, without a doubt, the most awesome SKS ever made. In the Jesse James style of extravagant outstanding workmanship, this is a gloss black 16" SKS carbine in an amazing painted and lacquered fiberglass flaming red stock. Not only does it look amazing, it also handles great, with the semi-pistol grip stock and a handhold between the magazine and bayonet. Features a rear aperture and front red post for excellent target acquisition. Bayonet has been customized as well! Excellent workmanship; it feels even better in person than it looks in photos. A truly one-of-a-kind piece of firearms art for someone who is bored with ordinary guns! Not C&R eligible, sorry, and no shipments to California.
