Hey, guys. First time poster, long time lurker. I felt kinda embarrassed about making an entire thread about it, but here goes.
I finally managed to save up enough money to buy my first gun, a 91/30, and got around a hundred rounds to go with it. With that being said, I wanted to try and get some advice from you guys on how to improve my shooting. In the picture my groupings in the middle are from about 50-60 yards away (I used a water heater as a crude target, don't laugh at me). The ones in the center are from a crouched position with the rifle supported with my leg. A couple around the outside are from a standing position with no support. Overcoming trying to not anticipate my shots is the hardest part, and I feel like it's the biggest thing holding me back. I'm kind of sucky so far, and there's a lot I would like to learn. So, any advice or criticism would be really appreciated. Thanks.
You can anticipate a shot
The whole "be surprised by it" is how you break your arm on high recoiling guns
Don't flinch
Relax
Don't hold your breath fully inhaled when you shoot
Exhale half of it then hold

I'm not huge on recommending little girl 22lr guns for first time owners but 7.62x54r is a bit much, man
>>34890602
You picked one hell of a rifle to start off with. You're probably flinching in anticipation. The only way to get over it is to shoot more and build up your shoulder. Also do strength exercises to be able to hold up control your rifle better. Arms outstretched hold your rifle parallel to the ground for a minute, rest, another minute, rest, minute, keep going until you cant do it anymore. Then add 15 sec to your next set and do this process as part of your daily routine from now on. Also pushups, pullups, forearms, and all that jazz.
Can we have a thread for the cutest handgun, Ziggie Zozig P226-chan?
That's not a 226 though

What gun is that guy holding?
I bought a stripped AR lower some time ago, but haven't got around to building it. Budget limitations have kept me from buying build kits and looking for parts, so I'm wondering, what is the LEAST amount I could spend on constructing this rifle and making it function. Are there any good sites besides (((cheaperthandirt))) for getting super cheap parts from?
>>34889606
dont go cheaper than aero, PSA, etc. you shouldnt be spending all that much more than $50 on a lower parts kit, match triggers are $100-$300 and stock from $50-$200
>>34889617
Stocks don't really affect the performance of the gun at all so i'd suggest the cheapest option available.
Alg defense milspec trigger is like 50$ if you want a good but cheaper trigger above average milspec. Besides that you can get most of the lower parts including average trigger for 50-70$ from dpms i think, i forget but i saw it at a local academy sports. I think an average basic stock is good from about 50-70 as well, doesn't really matter what you get if you like it and the buffer tube isn't fucked up which i think isn't too common for what you'd find. I got a utg A2 stock and it works just fine despite what people might say. Sites like Joeboboutfitters and Palmetto state armory are your friend.
Any thing related to ballistic missile defense. Can be about the US intercepting missiles from NK, Iran, or non-US BMD like Israeli Arrrow 3, etc.
But the main question is of course: Can the US intercept a NK missile aimed at either Guam or CONUS?
>>34888675
Hold on, let me just go to Excite and enter "classified missile stuff" and when I get there I'll download "Top Secret missile specs" and then i'll put it in my server.

Weird, I can't find it.

Lol use Altavista, they can search more sites.
Hey /k/, I've been trying to get into hunting more, and I've been looking at .308 rifles, are there any that are new, or somewhat new for around 350 dollars? I've been looking at a Savage Axis, tell me what you guys think.
Pic not related
Mossberg MvP
>>34888545
But, next time, use the QTDDTOT
>>34888486
Watch sales. We're coming into hunting season with goose and waterfowl ready to start, plus a lot of bow seasons will be starting in october so hunting rifles will be getting pushed.
Are you looking for a combo rifle scope or just a rifle?
What took the U.S.A so long to deploy their first heavy tank ?
the war ended before the mk.viii could see battle, there was no money or effort for tank development between the wars, the m6 was a piece of shit, the sherman was among the best medium tanks when it debuted, they had to ship tanks to europe and the pacific, the war ended before heavy tanks designed to counter the king tiger could be fielded, the m103 was a piece of shit that was rectified by the marines, then the heavy tank was obsolete because of the mbt
>>34888475
'Cause there was no need for them. A M26 was more expensive than a M4 for roughly the same combat capabilities.
>>34888475
A war in which transporting Heavy vehicles across the Atlantic is more expensive than they're worth.
Okay so this laser cut Molle shit. I dismissed it pretty much immediately when it came out, but they seem to be pushing it pretty hard lately.
so far this is what my investigation (all hypothetical, i have never owned or tried it IRL) has yielded.
Pros:
-Cheaper to manufacture (laser cut, su you just take a piece of fabric and automate the process) ALTHOUGH, from what i've seen, that hasn't really translated into better prices for the average customer.
Cons:
Multiple slits with difficult access=potential for dirt and grime to get everywhere
One layer of cloth hanging only from the edges as webbing? i see potential for tears and ruptures
Potentially harder to attach pouches (?)
And finally the time came, the time when i found a product that i would reaaaally like to buy BUT
M O L L E 2 . 0
Shit
But here's the deal. Look, i'm sure it will be fine for everyday use in an urban environment, but that's not what i am interested in. Do i need any better? Probably not, but i'm sick and autistic and OCD so i want all my shit to be bombproof
So, help me /k/. Am I being unfair? Should i give it a go? or maybe I was justified in my prejudice and by buying into it i would just be feeding a forced shitty trend?
Let me know
>>34888360
>hasn't really translated into better prices for the average customer
They might be trying to pay off their new laser cutting machine and will lower prices when they've done that.
>>34888369
If it works and people are buying it, why the fuck would they lower the prices? the way i see it, if it really is worse and if they get their way pushing this trend, manufacturers would only be cutting down costs while keeping the same profit
>>34888377
If someone else realizes they have a laser cutter and buys their own laser cutter and accepts paying it off over a longer time period, they can offer a substitute product at a lower price.
Is there anyone in the military using Multicam Arid? Like sfg or green berets? Im just curious since that pattern looks so good imo
>>34888253
I just find it so funny that Multicam, originally supposed to be the "jack of all trades" camo, ended up splintering into countless variations for specific areas. Self defeating marketing much?
>>34888465
Pieces of different variants look okay together though. New looks okay with faded. Try that with other patterns and all the kids will point and laugh.
>>34888465
Never should have gotten rid of woodland and choco chip. Worked 1000 times better
Hear me out.
A frigate the size of a Perry. With phased array radars, a VLS like Australian refits, and SeaRAM.
Give me one way this isn't superior to the Litoral Combat Shit.
>>34888097
Sure, lets go to Europe and shop around for one. They have like 5 "frigate" variants over there.
Why not buy Chinese?
The put weapons inside containers so they can change weapons anywhere that has a port.
>>34888097
You are literally describing the SSC version of the Freedom class, so I'm not sure what the fuck your point is.
Freedom class has AESA radar and SeaRAM now. SSC adds baby-Aegis and could add as much as a 32 cell VLS if they use the whole mission module, though at that point a person would be free to question why you don't just use a Burke.

Why didn't the US change its attrition strategy to something that actually worked? Why did America play right into their hands?
Because the US government was riddled with the communists that Joe McCarthy tried and failed to get rid of. They made sure that the military never ended up being able to fight a left-wing enemy (Korea and Vietnam) with the force it brought to bear on right-wing enemies (Germany and Japan). The plan worked, and the military ended up being hamstrung, which made the war drag on until the population got tired of losing sons and having no gains to show for it, and demanded an end to the war.
>>34887993
>Joseph McCarthy was a good guy
>We lost because of the hidden communist conspiracy
I should have specified I was looking for real-life answers not conspiracy theorist delusions.

>I should have specified I was looking for real-life answers not conspiracy theorist delusions.
That's not an argument.
But this is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wljpYZ8wejA
>People taking footage of monkey-model Abrams being used by middle-eastern nations being destroyed by TOWs and then using that as a basis for hating the actual Abrams tanks that actually have depleted uranium armor.
The people who complain about that also say the Iraq war was an indictment of the T-72
The battle of Latakia during the Yom Kippur War is probably what modern naval warfare will look line.
Heavy use of missiles, ECM, and extremely lopsided casualties even with near-peer adversaries.
Modern naval warfare speculation thread.
What happens when the missiles run dry on both sides, ECM and hard kills being largely effective?
Does it reach a point where defenses are sufficient for combatants to close to gun range?
Do we need, dare I say it, big gun cruisers? Or...battleships?
>>34887735
If not that battle then look at the Falklands War in which the Argentine Navy got shut down due to fear of submarine attacks and the Royal Navy got hit by air attacks.
>>34888055
If I recall, Egyptian Russian ships emptied their missiles and has no guns so the Israelis were able to close in and fire their guns on them.
That's why newer Soviet fast attack crafts has a big gun.
