>Russia's Ministry of Defense (MoD) is planning to bring back into service some of its mothballed T-80BV main battle tanks (MBTs) and to update them, according to a source in the country's defence industry.
>The upgraded T-80BV MBTs will feature the Sosna-U fire-control system also used by the T-72B3 and T-90, an updated energy generator and engine starter, and advanced explosive reactive armour (ERA) plates. The modified T-80BV tanks will be suitable for the climatic conditions of the Arctic, the Far East, and Siberia, the source said.

This does not seem very plausible. I think they're even trying to phase out the few hundred T-80Us which are more capable then BVs, simply to move away from the T-80 chassis. The T-72B3M is a much more cost effective upgrade that has better automotive qualities and is sufficient for killing Polish Leopard 2A4s or any Ukrainian crap.
If true however, that means their Armata system is a few years late in development.

P320s are all essential the same. It's a modular pistol. Kits aren't too expensive and allows you to swap barrels, grips, triggers, etc. Great if you're, for some reason, only allowed one registered gun.

For the British MIV program, looks like the government is debating between a sole source government to government contract for the Boxer or an open tender.
From what I gather MIV is basically a program to replace the FV432 series with an 8x8 platform in APC, C&C, ambulance, repair and recovery variants.
What should they do?

How exactly do you beat a Roman Legion in the field? I ask because, according to their written histories, the Romans not only seem to lose battles alarmingly often, but often with the total annihilation of an entire legion or more. This despite an often considerable technology gap between the Romans and their enemies, their foes in the East not withstanding.
The pattern is this
1. The Romans encounter a new enemy. That enemy slaughters them on an epic scale
2. A new commander arrives and institutes some new tactics or employs new equipment
3. The Romans win in a subsequent battle, this time lopsidedly slaughtering the enemy on a massive scale
I don't know if this just a characteristic of ancient historians who felt the need to embellish to make the wars they were writing about to make them seem more epic, but it is curious.
