Are you hitting the drinks for the last night we'll be together?
What do you think of the Remington R51?
My father and I were looking at the gun store this afternoon and we got that one out of the case and found it to be a very comfortable gun to hold, and very lightweight for it's size and the fact that it's a metal gun, my father is thinking he'd like to buy one for conceal carry soon, and I'm considering one myself.
Is there anything I should really know about them?
>>32098292
Pretty much the gun the Glock should have been.
>>32098292
They are garbage. The most hilarious train wreck in decades of a launch and relaunch.
>>32098292
Just get an original Remington 51.
Sort these in priority order with a why (note - none of these have any direct application to my life):
* Get a gun and go to range once a week
* Learn to draw passably
* Learn guitar
* Get a motorcycle and ride it
* Get a project car / do pointless (invisible) shit to current car
* Get better at job that already takes up ALL free time during week
* Write in
Keep it under $5000 / year.
Working out not on list because given.
Riding a motorcycle has been the most life altering experience for me, as long as your okay with risk and getting out of your comfort zone a bit.

>Nigger can't greentext.
Lol.
>hurr $500 wasr is too expensive
>wait for prices to come down
>it goes way up
>still dont have a wasr in the current year
why do i still listen to /k/?
>>32097945
You never listen to k. Which means you should listen. That means you shouldn't listen.
>>32097945
WASRs aren't worth 500 nor are they worth 600. They are trash.
>>32097945
Don't worry, some other shitty AK will come to fill the gap. When the wasr first came people talked so much shit about them, before them it was other Romy kit builds.
Finally made up my mind. Local gun shop is selling a Marlin 1895 for $600
Should I?
I've always wanted a lever action chambered in 45-70
Hell yeah. Not bad price. I absolutely love my SBL. The 45-70 is an awesome round, I suggest you get HSM cowboy ammo to build up a stock of Starline brass to reload with. You might not like the buckhorn sights that the GBL comes with, but there's tons of aftermarket sights that work awesome (like Skinner sights)
>>32097642
Sorry OP, im only going to derail slightly.
I really want to get a lever action, since I haven't had one since I was a kid. Any suggestions on caliber/model? I was thinking 45-70 or .444 marlin, but im not too picky. I'd like to get rifle for under $1000 and not pay out the nose for ammo.
>>32097779
I have a couple friends that swear by the 30-30
A bunch of my dad's friends say that it was the first gun they learned to shoot on
Knives take more skill.
I would say it takes more skill to cut up vegetables with an AR-15 than it does a knife.
>>32096639
Wow.
>>32096639
Barrel, buttstock, bolt...rails?
Just bought 4 mags online, and the seller included these keychains. The eye screw is hot glued into the primer hole.
I get the feeling these were meant to be snapcaps, and they make them keychains just to "look safe" (i.e. not look like live rounds).
lol no
>>32096613
won't work as snapcaps with the primer hole empty, they are probably just a freebie meant to be keychains.
>>32096640
I should rephrase, not SnapCapsâ„¢, but rather dummy/practice rounds.
Lots of the non SnapCapâ„¢ practice rounds, do not include a primer to strike on.
Tell me, /k/, what is the best rifle that shoots 5.56 and why.
>>32096243
AR-15 of your choice.

I'm building a light 70s ALICE gear load out. My only gripe is I don't like the whole 2 canteen deal. Was the 2 quart canteen issued late in the Vietnam war?
>>32094990
I went into the Army in 1980. I left in 1988. I was never issued anything other than the standard 1-quart, plastic canteen, not even for Grenada. I saw a few of those 2-quart canteens, but never cared enough to inquire about them. If we needed more water, we carried 2 canteens.
>>32094990
There were two types. The first type was a plastic sheeting, clear plastic bladder canteen type.
The second type is the pic you posted anon.
>>32094990

just git one, and quit cryin'

How does a person like this even become an NCO in an American infantry regiment, let alone a senior NCO. I mean I've met plenty who are terrible people, and dickbags, but I don't think I've ever met any that have the wrong personality, character, mindset and temperament to be a good soldier. This guy seemed to be lacking all of that. How did he ever make it beyond private?

How can 9mm even compete?
Greetings, /k/ucks, envoy from /his/ here.
Is there still any difference in the roles of Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates nowadays?
It seems to me all three are just big missile boats instead of occupying specific roles. So what's the point in keeping the nomenclature?
Thanks in advance.
>>32091706
Corvettes are better
Frigates are smaller and cheaper than destroyers and have much less missiles
They exists to escort carriers after the navy runs low on money from building carriers.
Destroyers are all around vessels that carry a good amount of missiles and can do anything
Cruisers were meant to carry a shit ton of missiles and do everything else a destroyer does
Cruisers and frigates are being phased out because they don't serve a role that destroyers can't do just as well. We've never needed more missiles than a destroyer can carry.
Used to be that they would have different anti-sub capabilities but then they were all refitted with tow behind sonar systems.
>>32091706
>Is there still any difference in the roles of Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates nowadays?
>Cruisers
Nowadays, the term "Cruiser" is rarely used except when talking about abnormally large surface combatants like the Kirov battlecruisers. The Ticonderoga-class cruisers were planned as a class of destroyer, but were re-designated as cruisers purely for political reasons. In terms of function, they are essentially identical to the Arleigh Burkes class destroyers, except that they hold more missiles and have large command facilities.
Frigates are smaller warships design to supplement destroyers/cruiser in particular roles. Whereas larger warships are general-purpose vessels usually, Frigates tended to be more heavily optimized towards a particular task. This is a natural result of having a smaller vessel with less room to carry extra equipment. For example, the Oliver Perry Hazard frigate-class was created specifically to act as escorts for auxiliary vessels. In particular, their design was optimized towards anti-submarine warfare because the Soviet fleet was very submarine-focused and so auxiliary ships would need to be protected during a war.
However, for some navies, "frigate" is actually their largest surface combatant, and in those cases, the Frigates tended to look a lot like scaled down multi-purpose destroyers rather than specialized vessels. Sad but true.
Tanks that were introduced in WW2, but never used.
>>32089429
This mothahumpa was introduced a few weeks after Hitler An Hero'd.
>>32089429
I'm still amazed they managed to lose 1 of those for 40 years. How the fuck do you lose 1 of 2 prototypes?
>>32090334
Forget that it was a prototype.
How the fuck do you lose a super heavy tank that never left the country in the first place?
AMEND 2 / HEXMAG S2:
Has anyone had any experience with this magazines? I've heard good and bad stuff from Hexmag Mags, mainly bads from the S1 mags but i haven't heard much from the Amend brand. Which ones are better, are any more superior than the other?
>>32088402
These*
>>32088402
I tried out the amend 2 mag that came with a lower receiver I purchased. It works. Not sure what else to say about it. I like my lancers and pmags better, but the amend 2 worked fine.
>>32088402
I had the Series 1 for a while and it hasn't worn out but i've seen that some people have had problems with them. Then again they're made of plastic i don't think they're meant for things like mag dumping.
